View Full Version : No0bs feelings

How do you guys feel? Or how did you guys feel when you were newbies. I mean when u were new to a particular forum and didn't know much people. This forum is different in that respect since a huga portion is just a reunion of NT people, so NT people don't count as noobs on this forum, but still post how you felt when you were a no0b.

Members would likely be more responsive if you can specify exactly what you meant by "No0bs".

Just a thought.

Hrm...

NT = Naruto Talk [a Naruto-based forum]

I thought you were a member from there. I recall the exact username and the person had Sora from Kingdom Hearts in their avatar.

My mistake.

I don't think that really answers the topic question. ^^;

Personally, I am not intimidated by anyone, but i DO try to make good first impressions. Forum vets are vets for a reason,so yeah, even if we all belong under a group "members" IMO newbies need to learn their respectable status by behaving nicely, and NOT spamming or flaming. Unfortunately, I see that lots of people (not just on this forum) post just for the sake of posting and post count and not really because they like to add anything to the topic at hand... of course spam and small talk from time to time ain't bad, but most of the times, that's a lot most newbies do.

So no, I don't feel any pressure or am I scared to say things that I want to staff, or anyone else. I'm a grown up woman, I know that my common sense will suffice in such simple matter as forum. :) In places like this, it's easy to make friends and just have fun without thinking what vets think of you. :) We are all forum members. And without us, a forum is useless.

rofl.. NOW THAT IS A REVIVAL.

This thread.. was made.. 3 days after the actual forum was made according to the first posts.. how..did you find this!?

Artemis
06-18-2007, 11:52 AM
woah, thats true!

Holy Sh- This is friggin old!
Is the original topic creator still active? Or even the first page?

woah! We should preserve it or something?

Anyway, back to the actual topic...

I reckon most people feel a bit shy when they go to a new forum and pretty much wherever theres already a large group of 'vets'.

But I reckon CB is probably one of the most welcoming forums in the entire world. Your intro page actually has people going around and saying hello. I think the whole RP and Gotei 13 and the adoption and e-marriage plays a big part in the whole community feel towards it.

And the fact that the members continuously interact with the other members, mostly because of the things I said before: Gotei 13 project, the Bleach and Naruto and Kingdom Hearts RPs, the e-adoptions and e-marriages create a warm and close feel towards each other which generally means that newbies can feel welcomed and friendly towards the rest of the established members.

Also, you seem to notice members more and more here in CB. In other forums you may not ever make a real connection or friendship on the forums. Here most people know each other to a limit and are always welcomed to each other.

Summary:
CB = Good place for newbies
reason = friendly and close community
reasons for that = can't be stuffed saying again.

So, my initial thought to reading this thread title was: "NOOBS? They have no feelings!"

I thought this thread was going to be about how people should be nicer to noobs. :<

But OMG, this thread is hilarious. I was reading "I am a noob and I'm proud of it." Click that person's username and it said s/he joined JANUARY 2005.

I was like "OMG you are not a noob." =/

roffles.

HAHA indeed.. its amazing. I cant fathom how shaberry even found this.. it had to be buried in the darkest region of the forum.. Its prehistoric.. finding.. like some fossil.. lol.

And nah.. the original creator left long ago.

I didnt actually know that his forum had alot of NT people .. thats interesting.

Whew I'd not call it shy, but I think it takes a bit to integrate yourself in here :)

I still didn't but I already know a bunch of awesome people here.

Helikaon
06-18-2007, 12:08 PM
Lorraine I suggest you go introduce yourself first if you havnt already.. then go have a look in the randomness section.. and get aquainted with some friendly people.

On a side note. Scorch I got a question.. Did you know it was me that created the idea of the Marriage thread on CB? Im just wondering if thats general knowledge or people think it was someone else.

Artemis
06-18-2007, 12:13 PM
I think i knew, I just forgot.

Technically I should be thanking you, even though i haven't e-married.

Your idea is one of the most popular 'creations' on CB. It's given some real community spirit and has created closeness among many members.

Your creation of the e-marriage thread has made CB a better place.

All credits to you.

Helikaon
06-18-2007, 12:16 PM
Well haha thanks :)

I first created it for myself.. because I liked a girl on CB genuinly and wanted to make it 'official' But I decided to give the thread a go.. thinking I would probably get flamed for creating such a thing... But it ended up being massively popular.. and well... Its still around.

Artemis
06-18-2007, 12:19 PM
So which kinda means,

that you were possibly the first e-marriage in CB?
And if your still married (and I hope you are), you could be in the oldest 'official' CB relationship on record!

Someone should be verifying this, and make a:
Club Bleach's Forum Records!!!

Helikaon
06-18-2007, 12:25 PM
rofl.. nah.. I wasnt actually the first e-marriage.. and neither am I still together with her :)

The longest e-marriage is by someone who isnt active anymore.. but.. generally it was about 2 days after it was started.. and hasnt been divorced.

Wait, am I an oldie or a n00b?

I am kind of in the middle, so I guess I am either an old n00b or a n00bish oldie.

Since this is the first forum I have even been on, it is kind of hard to say for certain. I really haven't changed since I joined this forum some seven months back or so.

Although I think that posts get more credence and respect when the Member tag isn't slapped above them.

i have to admit i get a little shy when i first join a forum, but i hate being called a noob jsut because they have more posts than me
i mean, i could be calling that person a noob on a different forum but i choose not to
besides, i dont really think post count tells how long someone has been on a forum. A noob could easily stay on a forum for hours and hours in one day until they get enough posts

I actually have to say this forum has probably the nicest and most approachable members of any forum I've been on. Very laid back in general.

Toasty
07-26-2007, 04:13 AM
I'll agree w/ the members being approachable. I've always found it difficult to stay active in something this long on a regular basis... without it being a complete obsession that is (Neopets, etc...) ...... but having people to talk to and so much available at one place makes this forum VERY accessible. I just find it wonderful that there are so many groups, The Bleach Project, Bleach RPG, CBNL, Contests (SOTW), and just awesome sections like Entertainment, Debates, etc.

This place is VERY well organized... and even though I've seen it during some of it's rougher times, it's amazing how well it's all come together! This place has a VERY strong structure... one that it will be easy for "newbs" to integrate themselves into quickly and easily. After all, it only takes a month and 100 points to be eligible for the Academy, right? *questions* ... Well, either way, there really is something for everyone (including the perverts and their hentai. *sigh*)....

G'job awesome Admin! We love you all... and Newbs. Don't worry. Everyone comes onto CB all newbish. It wears off eventually. Just try to find yourself a place in this great community and don't stop trying! People are friendly, overall.

there are a lot of young people in Clubbleach so i think long run users should give them pointers and educate them about forums system.

most young people are immature so
if you dont want to be called as immature
please try to be calm at all times.

don't insult or shame others by your comments.

Good advice, IMO! Nice.

I do agree. Just try to be friendly and respect each other. Emotions play a LARGE role in communication. Online, you lose the emotional aspect and are left with only words. Try to remember that not everything is meant to be hurtful. Some things are just misunderstood. And try to remember that it IS just an online forum. (no offense to all of us CBers) ... There is life out there and don't get too worked up about things. Respect each other. There is no reason to treat people like dirt. :) :biggrinlo

It's important to note that not all newcomers are young and immature, foolish etc..

I'm new for example, and I don't feel shy or anything at all.. I just sometimes try to contribute and post my thoughts on a certain topic without hesitation.

The only thing with being new is the people you talk with and after awhile, even if they don't know you too well, you get know them or at least their thoughts.

I never really thought of myself as a noob, its a slightly degrading term..

TBH IMO noobs are just regular members to me. If they dont get me, or they tick me off, I just ignore them or manipulate them (waves at DreadRaven and Nemesis0521). Their feelings matter just as much as anyone else's, so treating them any differenty is telling them "your not equal to me' or biased shit like that. =\

new people suck, they should all go choke on a donkey.
I keed, I keed.

uh, I don't think I was intimidated when I first joined, though I was pretty noobish. people here are just extremely nice, almost too nice if you ask me. >.>

When I joined here, I already knew most of the respected locals. I FELT YOU GUYS WOULD HAVE PROTECTED MY ASS.

Even thought I was on other forums and even was Administrator of two of those (Dunno why,but the Admin of one of them leaved because he broke some kind of rule and choose me to be in charge of the place o_O),I still pretty much feel lost here, not because I'm new about this community or something, but I'm lost about this reputation/bank/points thing. :eek13:

And I was (and I still am) always a n00b at Sign Making,Photoshop, etc.

I feel a little like trailing behind. Like they know something I don't. There are a bunch of nice people around here, though. I still feel a little lost because I think some people don't like to talk to newbies ^ ^

yeah, there were a few others who were semi-new that accepted me rather quickly and the guys and gals here are super nice and extremely helpful as long as you have an intelligence level higher than a rock.

I was always fine here. :biggrinlo But over at NF I felt so intimidated by the high rep/post count gods and the capricious nature of the senior members.

But now that I am not a noob anymore, it is fun. :)

Same here supra. It's like the longer your postcount, the better chance you have of avoiding getting in trouble when you start being offensive to newer members. There are people that have been here longer than me and have gotten warning after warning for being disrespectful, but have yet to be banned and even more rediculous, said members have yet to learn their place.

Sad really.

To all those "n00bs" that feel nervous around old members, don't be. They are still "n00bs" sometimes :lol

What constitutes a n00b? Post count? Reputation? Join date?

If it is the latter than I am kind of a veteran, but I don't spam nearly enough to get high post counts or three-row rep.

So maybe there is a little noob in all of us. But don't worry, as soon as that post count hits a 1000, we'll stop bashing on you. ;)

I think there's a difference between a "n00b" and a "Newb". Nubs are idiots who are not willing to learn anything from their screw ups. Newbs are regular people who are liked by the entire community because they don't have a serious problem with spelling and actually listen to you if you're trying to give helpful advice.

Either way, I don't give a rat's ass who you are or what title you hold. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z67/FFExtremeDerek/Smilies/cookiemonster.gif

I'll judge you as I see fit and complain about how much I think you suck if I don't like you. xD

Is it wrong for me to say that I think people who never post outside of The Randomness sections are noobs? Nah, I don't think so.

But that constitutes as flaming which is one of the foremost attributes of a n00b. =o

all n00bs shall be obliterated by my gigantic e-penis.

veterans are sillier than new people, n00bs are just more annoying with all their repetitive questions that have already been answered a bazillion times.

I don't consider myself any different from any of you on here, just because you have a bigger number next to you're name doesn't mean I have any reason to respect you anymore than someone with a 1 next to it.
We're all equals on here as far as i'm concerned.
