View Full Version : What's wrong with witchcraft?

I've read an article about a woman trying to ban Harry Potter from school books because, as she said, it atracts children to whitchcraft. Well, Halloween has been out there for quite some time, and it beats me to why a whitch fantasy would ever be a burden. I know some people call themselves whitches nowadays, but why would that even be someone else's business. And also related to this, are parents entitled to choose their children's religiousness? And isn't it abusive to try and ban diferent religions from your schools (assuming that's the case)?

A lot of religious people see witchcraft or any magic as the work of the devil and think anyone trying to practice it is going to hell. Also parents may feel it's their right or duty to choose their kid's religion for them if they think the kid will go to hell if they dont. That said, I hate censorship in pretty much any form and for BS reasons like this especially. I guess some christians just feel like they have to make enemies for themselves so they have something or someone to condemn, or claim that they're being "oppressed". *shrug* , I never really got it and I think most sane people know not to take this kinda thing seriously, or at least I hope so.

parents are just lookin for scapegoats as to why their own children are messed in the head..."why does my child swer...must be TV...why does my kid act like a jerk-off in school must be videogames...and so on and so on...so really as long as parents don't want to fess up that they in turn may be the reason why their kids smoke at 10 and are having kids at a young age and dropping out...this will ALWAYS be an easy way out...in all reality they may just need to be more active in their child's life...but excuse me i need to go watch harry potter and cut myself....LOL just kids about the last part, cept i actually may go watch it...I LOVE HARRY!

its a religion thing all religions however much they say love thy neighbor tend to act differently in reality and witchcraft has for hundreds of years been considered a barbarian belief which most organised religions have worked very hard to snuff out.

actually its wad they do that really counts... its far-fetched here... but for example if someone uses witchcraft to save another person or sumthing... i doubt the victim would really mind after that.. but yes, i agree with candy that most adults just try to make up excuses nowadays... but is witchcraft really a religion??

not a religion but a belief and it was concidered a barbarian belief which is why religions tried to snuff it out.

Witchcraft can be sort of summed up as the ritualistic system of any of a myriad of earth-based religions. Alot of earth-based religions have their rituals referred to as witchcraft by outsiders. Alot of religions (most notably druidic ones) face this, but several tribal ones (notably Voodoo) also have this named.
