And yes, Naruto was on the list of mangas to be chosen from, yet it didn't make it in the top 50, or even in the "other" most popular of all time...looks like they polled only smart people with taste.
Translator didn't say anything about Bleach...but apparently, it's not there either.
not surprised that slamdunk is on the top of the list. Bleach, I think, isnt in the tops yet because its one of the newer ones. I mean, compare dbz or slamdunk to bleach. Those animes are old schools...
What Im surprised of is that yu yu hakusho is that far in the list. :(

I'm just glad that Slam Dunk is on that list. It was one of the first Manga series that I ever read.

^^^ One Piece is on there at number 11. It's also cool seeing Hunter x Hunter and Vagabond on the list. I would've been surprised if Monster wasn't on that list.

I explained about Naruto and Bleach. One Piece did extremely well though.

I think Naruto is dying. It was one of the ones to be chosen and not only did it not make the top 50 it didnt even make the "Others" category.
Im not sure that Bleach was on the pick list though. It definatly should have made it.

Anyways, I think that's a really deserving top ten though I would have wanted to see Berserk and One Piece up there.

I totally read this article on my Google feed last month, too, Planeswalker. ;3
But about this list..You have to keep in mind that SLAM DUNK and some of the other series are PHENONMENONS. SLAM DUNK is one of the (if not THE MOST) famous shounen sports manga series of all time--I mean, by that list, it's obviously the most loved. It was so crazy that people actually joined basketball teams and started playing it all the time just because of this manga that they read.
And Death Note--even though I don't consider it better than BLEACH, has highlighted the headlines, too. There was a school in China that suspended some students (and they may have banned the series from the campus) beacuse they came up with their own Death Note (following the series' instructions).
Sorry, but nobody hunts ghosts and collects souls..yet, anyway. ;3
And it's not that the poll is for the most controversial or culture moving/inspiring series, but I'm sure 79,000 people of ALL ages have specific tastes. Also, considering this poll only reflects the opinons of Japanese fans, we can easily assume that North American/European/anywherebutJapan's tastes aren't going to be the same.
Seriously, MOST of Naruto's fans are North American. Japanese people don't really care about ninjas as much as we do, sorry. =\
Basketball, however? Man, that's hawt.
Huh? No Berserk or Monster? While the mangas on the list are definetly great, the list is more of a popularity contest, so it doesn't say how good the mangas are, but how many people read them.
