k this view belongs not to me but to a friend of mine...do you agree with him...really its up to you and ill let you discuss it here...
Survival of the fittest, or Devine intervention?
From the beggining of time, creatures have needed special skills to survive. Perhaps armored skin, maybe long legs for running fast, eventualy a bigger brain for solving problems.
Somewhere along the line humanity became the dominant species on this planet. I do not, however, believe this to be from superior evolution, so much as from devine intervention. Why? Becuase people are stupid.
Next time you are in a public place look around you. Maybe even look in a mirror. Chances are, you will see somebody doing something excruciatingly stupid.
While I was driving down Corydon last night, I noticed a man walking towards the crosswalk I was approaching. When I was about 10 feet from the crosswalk, this guy slaps the button, and without breaking stride, continues across the street, nearly becoming a hood ornament. Now, as a child, I remember a rule pounded into my head ever scince I could walk. Look both ways before you cross the street. This also applies to avenues, boulevards, etc, you idiots. Another prime example is when people stop at yeilds when there is an entire lane dedicated to merging traffic. Here we have one person who is soo incapable of judging vehicle speed, that they need to come to a complete stop when a whole lane is available, causing all the traffic following them to come to an abrupt unexpected stop. Here are some circumstances when you are allowed to stop before a merging lane:
You wiegh 400lbs and drive a Hyundai Accent
You drive a Smart Car
Anywere else in the animal kingdom, creatures engaged in such stupidity would surely die. A squirrel stepping out infront of a stampede of bison, or that same bison in the front of the stampede coming to a sudden complete stop would bring immediate death. Why are we humans exempt from such natural selection? Simple, devine intervention. Only with help from a supreme being could the idiots that comprise humanity survived so long. But perhaps you don't believe in such things. So next time you try to pay for groceries using a third party cheque, just think about what you are doing. If natural selection doesn't take you out, perhaps I will.
