Confused on rolling

Hey everyone I was reading the RPG section and I love it but I am alittle confused on the whole rolling thing could someone help me out please

If you want to roll say... three 6 sided die then you could do it in one of two ways. You could either have it automatically added with this [roll]3d6[/roll} but with a normal bracket at end. It would look like this [roll0]. The next way to do it is if you want to get multiple die to show such as when attacking while playing(In which case you would normally roll a d10 but I will keep the d6's for my example). It would be rolled like this [rollv]3d6[/rollv} Again with a normal bracket at the end. And it would look like this [roll1]

im still confused, where do the die come from? why do you roll and when do u roll?

Well, you roll for certain actions, any time you see something like 2d10 or "roll a d10" or something like that, you have to roll a dice. For just about every action you take in the RPG, there's dice rolling.
