I had recently been browsing around Anime News Network, when I saw this!!!

Wally Wingert (honestly never heard of him) is going to be playing the role of our favorite badass, Abarai Renji!!

Wally Wingert is all over the place. If you watch Family guy, chances are you've heard him many times over. He probably hasn't done any anime work many people would know of, except maybe some Transformers.

Personally, I was wishing Lex Lang would have been cast as Renji. Wally is going to have to do one heck of a job to get my blessings, because I know Lex would have rocked as Renji.

Now that I've heard his wide variety of voices, I think he just might be able to pull it off.

The guy has a pretty wide range of voices he can pull off and the last clip on his 2006 MP3 demo sounded very nice. We'll have to wait for the final product, but I'm thinking it'll be good.

Still, he might just be able to pull it off seing as he's all over the place.

I think that you guys should get Final Fantasy 7 and listen to him there.
I have heard him as a character on Zatch Bell. He plays Brago and his Brago sounds a lot like Renji.
So I am looking forward to hearing him take on Renji.

He played Barnaby and/or Phineas. I whole hartedly approve of this casting decision.

I checked out some animation demos and all. His voice isnt bad for Renji. Actors can play lots of roles so well just have to wait.

Of course half the populace of this forum seems to disagree, because English voice actors somehow lack the sheer amount of talent ALL Japanese voice actors seemingly posess.

Looks like he's done a hell of alot in the past, also one that you've all missed out is that he VO'd George in Blood+, anyway all the characters he's done have been different voices, so he could pull of Renji,

He was great in FFVII:AC as rufus, I love that line "a good son would have known". I hope they fit Crispin Freeman in there somewhere too, my vote would probably be a creepy character like ogichi or mayuri, since he was brilliant as albedo in xenosaga (I would love to hear albedo's laugh on ogichi)

I have only heard him on FFVII:AC, which he did a good job on, but listening to his demo's on his site, i just can't see him doing Renji well, if he can't do the signature phrase, i'll be sad. I just hope im wrong.

I heard ze dub, and the voice of renji at the end of 15, though not alot of it was strange to me. I'm wondering if you need to hear more to have a proper opinion though.

Also saw the dub of episode 15, and I'm not too keen on either of the new voices. Yoruichi sounded like Terrence Stone to me, and I wanted him as Byakuya. Not to mention, I don't think it sounded deep enough.

Then there was Wally Wingert as Renji. This is, by far, my least favorite voice so far. Even below Urahara and Chad. He seriously sounds like a dork. Where was the punkish quality that Renji is supposed to have? I'm really disappointed. Lex Lang would have definitely done a better job with Renji's character, a type he excels at, than Wally Wingert.

If only Bleach had a different director. Some of his casting decisions suck balls.

I agree with Kagebu. Lex Lang did a good job as Sanosuke from Kenshin. Renji's VA sucks like hell. I really hope he improves in the next episode. I better hear a good, "Howl, Zabimaru!"

I just watched tonight's episode..the filler with the ending showing Renji and Byakyua......He sounds ...weird but I kind of expected it.

The lines were:

I don't that is is humanly possible to make that sound anything but a bit geeky.
I mean I doubt the Narrator from NFL Films could make it sound tough.

Just put the pitchforks down and at least wait until we hear fight Renji before losing it.

The Japanese voice didn't sound geeky when Renji said those lines. But Yeha i am giving Wally another chance. I hope to GOD ...TO GOD that he does a better job.

omg i almost starrted to cry when i heard renji's voice o_o; i was so upset T_T i was actually looking forward to the VA of kon to play renji (only because it would be funny to hear Axel and Reno's voice for renji cause it might actually suit him) personally i think they didn't do very well on the dubbing for anyone but i think it's just something we all must get used to because we've all only seen it in japanese xD lol i think chad's is pretty good? ionno lol im actually kinda hoping Byakuya get's Sesshomaru's voice for some reason xD (don't kill meh lol):Domo

Not gonna happen. Dubbing is a regional thing, and David Kaye is a Canadian voice talent that works for Canadian studios like Ocean Group. Bleach is being dubbed in California.
