View Full Version : National Novel Writing Month (Nov 1-30th)
It's also known as NaNoWriMo, and I was just wondering if anyone else in CB is participating.
http://nanowrimo.org
National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
I first learned about NaNoWriMo about a week ago, surfing online. I visited the website and got totally hooked on it. Plotlines and character profiles have been buzzing in my head ever since. I'm totally stoked. XD
So, if you haven't already considered it, I challenge all of CB's writers to try it! Sign up! It'll be HAWT.

Hmm... So this is what you were talking about. I might sign up for that. Probably won't. But I might.
Holy cow, NaNo is starting in less than an hour and I'm starting to freak out a little here.
Ack. So, I know this little thread isn't much, but I'm hoping that someone will skim it and help me out here. Basically, I've got a story, scrapes of a plotline, some complex (but very interesting) characters..but...
None of them have names? So, I'm asking everyone to first name themselves (first name is fine), and also their favorite person.
Names are very important to me, and I choose them carefully. But just about every name that comes to mind doesn't work..so I'm looking for some inspiration. <3

Wow, this sounds awesome MooL. I'm not going to participate (yes, lame =P) but if it happens next year I'll definitely plan on it.
I wouldn't mind helping with names MooL. I enjoy making up names for characters I think of in my mind, maybe I could help or at least give you some ideas *shrugs*

there is this site - which is an awesome resource for names
http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/names.htm
jsut pick any catrgory and u'll get prob any name ever created
hope it helps :winking56
*side note* : i would like to participate in this, but is it feasible to actually "write" something that u've already started?
for eg, i started writing a novel a few months back but only got the first chapter in.....then stopped cos of university.
would it be possible for me to "submit" that as my first chapter - and then continue from there for this NaNoWriMo?
if so i'm signing up........
GO FOR IT, DECADO!
It's totally up to you to choose whatever you want. For me, I started fresh, but I incorporated ideas of stories I have had in mind for awhile.

hmm... r u sure it's not too late?
also, wat happens at the end of this? (to ur written novel) i heard that anything uploaded to the site is counted and deleted immediately by a computer program. They don't read copies of any text uploaded...
Too late for me to join lol. But I will next year.
Ahh, you could still join! Unforunately, I didn't make the deadline (I had college applications due on the 30th and a bunch of huge exams), but I'm extending my own Personal NaNo until May 2007!
YOU ALL CAN DO IT WITH MEEEEEEE. And then, there's the film/play script NaNo in July 2007!!! =D

Aww, too bad you didn't make it mooL. May 2007 sounds like a good date though, and film/play script sounds interesting.

Rofl, I thought about doing it.
Like...once I saw this.
And then went "Shit, it's halfway through November already."
Maybe I'll just do it on a self-imposed month time limit and then submit it NEXT november.

Heh, I forgot about NaNoWriMo until just before November. I didn't have a story in mind at that time though, so I'll do it next year. By next November I should have much more planned out for an idea I have :P
And have fun Moolies :)
