are we really worth nothing in this vast universe?

I personally think we are all here to reach a certain goals or lesson(each one of us has our own set to learn).
We probably have more then just one and after the end of our life we come back with our lessons/goals + some we learnt along the way. I think you can however fail in doing what your here to do. Then you just come back again I guess.
I don't think anyone controls what we do tho(I'm sure we get helped along the way tho). I think we just do what we can until our goal/lesson is reveiled to us or we pave our own paths ourselves and happen to reach our goals along the way(and sometimes we don't reach our goals). We probably all have alot of goals and lessons that we are here to learn.
Once we have done what we are here to do we might stay a little while longer then pass on to the after life in which we put all together all of our lessons that we learnt in past lives(that would explain deja vu). We may decide to come back to learn more who knows.
This is of corse all just theroy no one really knows until we are gone and can't speak in this world anymore.

haha nice post, but what i meant to say is that one person doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things, actually our whole race doesnt matter, we are just a point in th universe

This thread will bring about many different opinions indeed.
I do not think our existance here is futile, but i do think we have one shot in life and that we all have some part to play. For some of us, an early death may be what our part was in this whole thing.

I totally agree with you in that sentence.
For example when all the people died from the tsunami in Malasia.
They all died (some early death) for a reason. Maybe to bring about a event that can happen as a result. Maybe to change a number of peoples feelings on things. Who knows. I think its something to push us in a certain direction tho(the people who survived it must have had other things to do in this life).

sounds pretty much dead scientific.
But i am a bit religious and I see things for humans on a grander scale. I see us as more than just animals, but like i said. this thread is gonna have very mixed opinions

well,it's hard to answer to a tread like this.
But i think we are just a small part in a big thing.
we might get blown up tomorow, or maybe find out there IS nothing.
anyways, i won't be bothered :p

1st Q - no
2nd Q (animals) - we are more special than animals, I would defend it with scripture, but I dont think anyone really cares that much.
