Game of GO

well, as the title says, this thread is to talk about GO, which i found out through watching Hikaru no GO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hikaru_No_Go)

also we might be able to play some matches in yahoo, or maybe just talk about the game ^^

Hmmm... Too lazy to search for a Go thread myself. And I think this might be better suited for Sports/Hobbies because Poker is in there and I think of Go as more of a Hobby. I know it's a game and all but I think this is for like CPU games or consoles. Doesn't really matter though.

I was just recently introduced to this game a couple weeks ago.(Well, I had played a long time ago but only once and the rules weren't really explained to me. Basically it was pointless.) But I tried learning it a bit. The rules are easy to learn and all but the actual game is really hard especially against people that are good. I haven't had much time to practice at this game but once I do then I'll take you up on a game. If you ever want to play a game of Go with someone that is relatively good then just hop by the IRC channel and look for Jimbozeubuen.

currently i'm trying to beat the program i downloaded (so far i've only beat it in level 1, with a handicap of 9 and 8 stones, i was black >.<) but from time to time i play on yahoo

I found that the game was pretty easy to learn, the only problem that I have is whenever I go to try and play with people on yahoo games, based off of my first move a lot of people don't want to play with me. It seems like it could be a lot of fun to play if I could find some people to play.

I was playing GO very well 1-2 years ago. now I quit playing it so I'm not that good anymore. I almost forget lots of the rules.

I found out about this game through watching Hikaru no Go as well, but I'm loser material at this one. First game was with Kendad *Kenta Shimizu* on Yahoo games, but later that night, I marked myself as a loser.... didn't win against someone who said he was also a noob *stabs person*, his score was 40 and mine was...err... 3 -.-''
so overall, I'm not good at it, I'm lower than a noob... *if there was any other title*

I am starting to learn it and I will be purchasing my own Go set soon so I can play it and learn more of it hands-on. Then, I will probably start playing on Yahoo games.

I'd be rather good at it if I had more time to play it. But as of right now I just don't have the time to learn a whole new game. WoW is rather consuming :P

i think the best way to learn is by solving problems and by playing someone who knows how to play and who CAN help you learn... computer software not good (although i'm using it >.<)
