Would you sacrifice your life for anyone?

haha...if i think about it probably not
but if i would probably do it by reflexes, and it wouldnt have to be a specific person, im likely to risk my life anyone
im weird like that

I'm sensing a general theme in the 3 last new topics lol.
it would all depend on the situation and who it was.
I was going to write a big long reply but I can't really do it without explaining every possible situation which would take to long and even then I would miss some.
I would risk my life tho in alot of situations to save almost anyone (even if I don't know them). Just not knowingly give up my life without going through alot of factors of the situation at hand.

but the question is would you do it consciously?

i think a better question is, would you risk others lives to save someone
like in saving private ryan, is it wise to risk a squad of men to save one guy

the men who volunteer do so, risking their own lives for a team member. They are making a conscious sacrifice.

I think i would unconsciously sacrifice my life for another yes, but depending on circumstances, it may be a conscious action

Again it would all depend on the factors at hand. Like the chance of success, who the person is etc.

If it was in war tho it would most likley teter on the chances of anyone else dying. Most likley in a war it would be to costly and that person would be left to die or whatever(alot of times the 2 sides will end up exchanging prisoners).

Alot of the time my reactions are to try and save a person unless I'm sure of certain death or a risk of death for me(thats when I get into the factoring in the situation. In the case of war its differint, you have to factor in things because there are so many differint outcomes).

It doesn't take me very long to measure the factors in a situation.

have you seen saving private ryan?
would you say that was a good decision to risk all those lives?

I don't really remember saving private ryan but if he is taking a action that is uncertain and he is knowly risking more peoples lives just for 1 person then in the way of war(and probably in the eyes of his general or whoever is higher up then him but wasn't there) he made a bad choice.
But if the group agreed that they know they are risking their lives and they all expressed wanting to save him then it was a good decision.
There are all sorts of things to weigh out like if them leaving the army short would cause more people to die.
Again bear with me I totally forget saving private ryan :p

I would say that choosing urself to have that man sacrificed for the team is a good idea sometimes. If he's vital to the missions success, then yes, i would sacrifice a team to save him. But if he wouldn't improve the teams chances, then I would see him sacrificed.
When I say the teams success, Hopefully a successful mission will involve the survival of your comrades. If you lose the mission, u may endanger the lives of more in the future or u may even lose the mission because u have died..
