I'm not really a fan as to me all the vocalists in this genre sound the same as all they do is scream their guts up. I've only really took time tho to listen to Opeth, [I've heard others, I jes can't distinguish between many of them] and I gotta say, I hate the death vocals, but when the guy sings, he's got one hell of a voice. His death vocals sound like "cookie monster" tho. :/ I do like metal music, I jes don't like death as the screaming jes goes to far.

that's understandable, at first i hated the vocals but in time i began to get accustomed to it. Opeth is a good band. Have u heard leper affinity yet?

Necrophagist. 'Nuff said. Most technical Death Metal band on the planet.

As for Opeth, I like 'em alot. Mainly their softer stuff such as "To Bid You Farewell" (which is one of my favorite songs ever), but I've heard the heavier stuff, and while he does tend to sound like Cookie Monster, at least he speaks real words instead of the gibberish other bands like Cannibal Corpse spew.

My brother recommended the song "In My Time Of Need" by Opeth, and I absolutely love it. This guy has a great voice. Next time I see my brother, I'll grab the "Damnation" album off him, as apparently there aren't any death vocals on that album at all.
