Has anyone here played/heard of the game Grandia? Not the second one for the Ps2, the first one! It's a totally awesome kinda 2D game, when FMV scenes take over, it's all anime ^^

Grandia is my all-time fave, not extremely popular though...

YEAH I LOVE GRANDIA LIETE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL!! I love Liete , Rapp is cool too but I had wished that for the last fight you could use Sue she was my fav character ^^ then its Liete and Rapp and Gadwin oh almost forgot the woman married to a cow MILDA! lol she is funny and Leen Im really glad she revived after they beated Gaia lol hehe yeah I played it lol

Rapp and Justin are my fave characters ^^ Rapp is just TOO funny...he reminds me of Kouga from InuYasha 0.o hehe ^^ Glad there's another fan yup yup ^^

I think Liete is my strongest character, i've started the game again (i wasn't strong enough to beat gaia XO) I can't wait to go to Kafu (Kafu or Cafu? I think Cafu??) And meet Rapp hehehehe

Guido is strong and I beated Gaia at lvl 32 Justin that is he was the strongest one >> then Feena 30, Rapp and Liete 28

Grandiaz sooo koool, yep dat game ownz.. beat it with more or less the same levels^, Grandia II was pretty awsome too, Ryudo kicked ass^^

they should make a true sequel to the first if one is even possible like chrono trigger it was probably one of the best games for snes but i like grandia also. i have the game in my game case some where here -_-

Grandia Extreme is good but not the best Grandia out there the best Grandia is the 1st one :D lol Feena is strong but they gave her the strongest magic cuz shes the main female character, I love chrono trigger and I also love Chrono Cross lol but thats outta topic

whaaaat? u finished it with feena? wow,i was the main damage dealer i got bored one day and decided to power up my sword level*thank god for the all hitting move ^^* but my sword's skill was at 435 i think and when i got a power boost i'd do at least 2000+ XD

Oh yeah, I remember Grandia...it was an awesome game, but stupidly ridiculously easy. I beat the last boss literally by just pressing the circle button without looking at the screen. I played the English version, and the voice acting was insanely bad.

I couldnt help but laugh in all of the "serious" scenes. "H,Herr Mullen..?" followed by "Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!". And i forgot the heroine's name, but she was like, "Hey Justin(i think that was his name), do you love me?" followed by "Yeah, I love everyone"...what the ****!? So ****ing cheezy and annoying...but funny. Im waiting on Grandia III, which should be out or coming out soon in Japan.

I like the voice acting in it *cries* though sometimes it ook ages for them to actully SAY anything, and yeah the serious scenes were weird most of them....i don't really listen/look i just listen to the awesomely awesome music ^^ If there's one thing i like about Grandia, it's the music (Kafu village my fave ^^) The scene with Feena and Justin on the boat....that took FOREVER it's nice first time round, but it a bit annoying the more you see it, anyway yeh, i think Justin is supposed to be 14-15 (they don't give you an age) ad he supposed to be ignorant and....stupid LOL which he is.....very....

I like the lil pictures thingys....i like Justin without his hat on....all that orange/red hair.....hehehehehe

No he aint if you at a low level...my charcters were on levels 20's (wn i play a game, i like to see how low a level i can defeat the last boss on, BUT 26-28 is far too low for Gaia)

not really liete and rapp were lvl 28 on my game so its not really low and they were the ones to damage most cuz feena and justin where mostly dead lol

I just loved Grandia 1st is my fav then Xtreme on 2nd place

Oh shit, I remember the part where my friends and I started crying from laughter due to the horrid voice acting.
Whenever Justin uses that move he got from Gadwin(I think thats his name), he says, "Gadwin's secret move! Dragon! King!! SLICE!!!". Holy shit, that was so funny every time i heard it.

ic its ok then but I guess that any game voice acted is perfect I mean the voices begin and their mouths dont move or they arent talking and their mouths are moving >< thats a real prob

you never got his move? dam thats how i killed everyone i became the invincible god in that game XD it power up's your sword skill/earth/fire skills if u had that and before u went up to the airship part it would of been really easy*and the last part before u enter gaia*

I have the first Grandia too. It probably doesn't mean a lot unles you are from Belgium though. (Grandia was NEVER released in Belgium, But I got it, for 3 Euro)
I like the game, it can actually still be on my all-time fav RPG list. I liked the story from start to ending. The only problem I have is that my PS2 kinda tends to lock up during some battles.

Yeah, thet "getting stuck" thing is annyoing, it happened for me first during the end gfight...ver bad, but on the second try, I got through.

lol funny.. dunno if this worx entirely, but back in my country weneva it got like that , in any game, ppl just turned da console upside down and the problem seemed fixed. No clu y or how, wheneva a game not exactly from that console froze, etcz if u left it upside down it was smooth and normal gameplay^^. Anywayz beats just banging on da console, my ol' fave technique^^

Well, PS2 has the problem of DRE.
This is caused by the laser drive being too slow for the ratio at which some games were made.
This can be fixed by downloading the PS2 production shematics, then take your PS2 apart. And use a pencil or a toothpick or needle to adjust the laser frequency. Then run the game that doesn't work. If it works, great. If not. You'll have to turn it up higher.
Now as the laser get's older. You'll alway's have to turn it higher and higher. untill you overflow the laser frequency and blow the whole thing up.
That's all.

Putting the PS2 is diffirent positions helps at the first symptoms, but it'll get worse in time.
I know, because I have 2 PS2's and fixe both of them a few times.
I do must say: You need to know what you're doing, else you'll just kill the PS2.
Don't try this with a PS1. It'll just wreck the little balls inside the drive and you won't be able to play any game. I tried... Believe me. It's not healty for PS1's.

well my fav grandia is xtreme the storyline wasnt really good but the voice acting was ok and the skills were better and the mana juctioning was good better than the coins thingy on grandia 2

You can put it in any direction in any way. My friends brother used to play games on it with the console upside-down. Else it wouldn't work.
If PS1 games don't work then you probably have DVd-driver 2.50 or up, for some reason it won't play them. I think if you insert an illegal disc in it, then a PS1 disk, then it works. It did for me, and I never had any problems with PS1 discs ever again. (Except that the MGS 2 disc I have once was considered illegal... But that never happened again...)

Grandia always sticks at the battles, and sometimes if i've been playing the game for hours, it tends to stick and i have to turn it off for about 2 hours for it to cool down. Grandia 2 stuck once i think, but that's just cause the disc was dirty. My ps2 games rarely stick...only with the older ones or scratched ones

My Ps2 is old and you have to be very gentle with it or it goes into a mood. It may take a long time to load, but it ALWAYS loads in the end ^^

That's just Grandia... It does tends to stick during a battle. It's a coding error. Nothing to do about it.
Just make sure you save a lot.

I do yup....don't you think being able to renew your health at the save points is a godsend?

sometimes, but usually I don't have much problems with RPG's.
I just love playing them, forgetting all about them and replaying them. Just for the story. That's my RPG policy.
Combat system is my n#2 way of judging an RPG. (Most MMORPG score bad at this point...) The FF system is starting to get a bit old... I hope there will be an original RPG released soon. (I'll have to wait 1-2 years anyway...)
I usually stick to items in most rpg's, inns are almost useless in most RPG's because of it.(I love the Star Ocean item limit to 20/item, it makes items so much more precious. And LoD's total item limit is 32... now that makes inns usefull.)
But in Grandia, it's been more than once that I've been gratefull for the save/restore points.

wow yeah i love grandia as well its cool that this many people have heard about it yeah there is one thing i havent done in the game that i really want to do and that is to get one of feena's last magic spell the one with 99 water and 99 wind to get it will take a long time but its the only left i need to do in the game :)

Grandia has got to be one of the best rpg's ever. The story, the characters, the battle system..............everything rocks.
