They're my favorite band, I've followed their career from when they were At The Drive-In and eventually split into The Mars Volta and Sparta. I'm not a big fan of Sparta though. But The Mars Volta is amazing. Their lead singer, Cedric, is one of the best rock singers I've ever heard. Their drummer is amazing. Their keyboard player Ikey is awesome as well. Their guitar player Omar, while can be a sloppy player at times, gets a lot of credit for not only writing all their music but having great use for effect pedals. They put on the best live shows too.

YES. I'm extremly glad to see that there's a Mars Volta fan here. Cedric's vocals are wonderfull. "Roultte Dares" has 158 play count on my iPod.

My favorites always seem to switch depending on what mood I'm in. (Though I can listen to the Mars Volta ANY TIME no matter what foul or good a mood I'm in) I've been jumpy lately, so I've been listening to a lot of neon Blonde and The Blood Brohers.

i haven't heard everything of theirs' but what i have heard has been awesome.

While I like a lot of bands like ATDI, TMV, MCR, FOB, C&C, TEN, MR, Anberlin, List goes on, my absolute favorite is....EMERY! They are awesome live. Their keyboardist practically makes their live shows awesome. Plus the fact that almost all of them can scream is just awesome.


i like emery, but i've yet to go to one of their shows. i heart keyboardists that go all out. have you watched the keyboardist of motion city soundtrack? He does handstands on his keyboard.

It's not even a question dude, 2 thumbs way up. Their past and present work, either one of them, it frigg'n rocks. Their past music were a lot more heavy then their songs from City of Evil. I guess they were told to keep their songs not so heavy or something, either way, though. That album is sick!

i dont listen to much besides japanese music, but theres only one chinese band that has caught my attention... thats mayday. i absolutely love them. they have the most beautiful music and lyrics. next would be L'Arc-en-Ciel. ignoring the fact that hyde is hot, their music is good too. =) then theres mean machine, consisting of judy and mary's yuki, chara, and actress ito ayumi etc. its a kind of special project thing, but their music is really good. and what can i say, all girl rock bands that are as tough-sounding yet way cuter and sweeter than guy rock bands just kickass. =D
