But if America conquers Japan, America would also have to pay for the destruction done to the land. As we both agree, Japan would lose and Japan would be in great economic debt. :facepalm: Plus, if the U.S. conquers Japan there would be no trade gap, as Japan would now be a U.S. territory (and we can't have a trade gap with ourselves).

Yeah, I was just amending what I said before where I wasn't sure if the invasion was to happen after the bombings or was scrapped completely for just a bombing campaign, turns out it was the former. The key word there is "defense". Nuclear weapons exist ONLY for offense. Japan is not allow to have an offensive military, so they cannot possess offensive military weapons. In addition, nowadays, you need the UN's approval to make nuclear weapons or else risk international persecution (such as Iran and North Korea are facing right now). Oh, we mean two different things. Oh, lol. I'm not sure if Japan has nuclear powered facilities, but I know they're not allowed to have nuclear subs armed with nuclear bombs. besides, in warfare, that's the whole point of having a nuclear sub: to be able to travel underseas while launching nuclear weapons.

Its simply a way too destructive way to solve any problem (man up to a coin toss anyone? That would save saome lives) . I've always thought it would be better to have the leaders of the two countries get into a boxing ring and duke it out. They're usually the ones who start these wars anyway, maybe if they had to personally fight they would be less inclined towards warmongering. Plus, it's not like we elect our leaders for their intelligence anyway (sadly).

Ah, but did they ally themselves because they agreed with the Nazi's ideology? Probably not. More likely they were intimidated by the Germans' other friend (the Soviet Union) and decided that joining up with such powerful countries would save them from becoming the next Poland.

maybe. Nah, they only used that opening for the last episode, so I think it will be used for at least the first few of the new season. Really, 24/25 is the begining of the new season. I can actually see ep 23 being an "end of the show" if they wanted it to be, but the 25 end was a real "you can't just leave it like this" cliffhanger.

If you watch carefully, they actually change the first opening over the first several episodes. Prolly to prevent spoilers in the begining.

Not really. After a week or two of waiting, I get over inconclusive anime. It used to bother me, but after watching Berserk, there will be nothing that compares.
I honestly dont think the second season will stack up to the brilliance of the first. I mean, recreating the excitment when Lelouch used the Geass for the first time, or when he stole the mechs and made his own army. Or even how they demonstrated his genius by owning the guy in the beginning. If they make another 20+ episodes, everyone is going to wish they ended it sooner. Unless they really go into detail about how Lelouch changes the world, but I think its going to turn into mindless mecha battling.
We were left at a cliffhanger, but the series was starting to lose excitement towards the end of the first season. Lelouch's friends not knowing his identity and such, I just wanted Karen to know already.

@eternalmetal: Well, Code Geass isn't that long. If CG ends at the end of season two, it can still be an awesome anime. While I'm glad for a season two, I hope to god CG won't turn into another Naruto, Bleach, etc, where they drag episodes on forever. Animes that have over 50+ episodes bore me, simply because the mangaka is only dragging the anime/manga on to earn money (which is why I've totally given up on Inuyasha, Naruto, and Bleach)

Yeah, I think two seasons will be enough assuming we wrap up the storyline. I hope it's not a sad ending, I'd like this to be a "Lelouch triumphs over evil ending" but it could easily go the other way. As long as it doesn't end in a sappy plotkai was like the Claymore anime did.

Just finished watching this series, all I can say is wow ....
Episode 22 blew my mind, my jaw just dropped to the ground. Happy I didn't get in to this series until after the first series ended, cos I would've spoiled that for myself if I had >_>

I love how Euphie tried to resist the geass... she failed but in the end, she did overcome it by not killing Suzaku

I can't imagine boys having high pitch voices... I mean, our growth through puberty basically gives us low voices.. women, on the other hand, they could be tomboys. Or they can play boys who have not gone through puberty.

Well, its for the pitch. Generally men after a certain age lose their high pitch voices, and its harder for them to reach a certain pitch needed to sound like a younger boy. Not saying it's not possible, cause it is.
So instead of looking for a guy with that has that certain voice or hiring a young boy to play the role they turn to women.
Well I was just popping in to see the convo cause I finally watched the last two episodes of the first season. And I'm excited about the next one. Glad I have those episodes fresh in my mind too.

I just finished the first season today \o/
I'd avoided watching it for a long time but with season 2 coming during the Gundam break (+being forced by Miya) I thought I'd give it a shot. Have to say I wasn't too impressed with the start of the show, also the Pizza Hut advertising was just lame =.= Some characters are quite underdeveloped imo but hopefully that'll change. Mech fights are definately a highlight of the show, always looking forward to the next one. The last 5 episodes were great too, so action packed and upped my opinion of the show. Guess I'll be watching season 2 :)

She didn't build it. It was Lady Marianne's Knightmare. It seems the Ashford family took possession of it after her death. It's one of the things that attracted Count Lloyd to Milly.

Lloyd was only scared of it after Nina came out and that was because he recognized the device it was carrying as a prototype nuclear weapon.
It's instability and power come from it's place in Kightmare design history. At that point, Kightmare design was still working on getting the kinks out of fine motor control after having reached a development point that military application seemed promising. (See Wikipedia: Knightmare Frame: Third Archetype (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knightmare_Frames#Third_Age:_Archetype)).

This is a question about R2: does anyone know if the series is licensed already? What I mean is just the second season, not the first, since I know that Bandai Entertainment obtained the license and that it's being shown on Adult Swim in late April. Anime News Network shows Code Geass R2 has been "licensed" but there wasn't any news about it at all.

I dont know exactly how the licensing business works (other than screwing up fansubs and scanlations), but I would assume that R2 is already licensed by the same people who licensed the first season (it is the same series). If it isnt already licensed (ANN isnt 100%), it will be very soon.
Ohhh. I don't want to hear that. v_v If that's true Shinsen wont do a sub of R2 then.

According to this link, Bandai has the license for season 2. We should get a fansub for an anime this popular though, I wouldnt worry. I know shinsen is one of the best groups, but whatever I guess.
Maybe Syndicate will do it. After viewing theirs and GG's sub of 24/25 a few times, I've realized Syndicate's was much better.

Judging from that title...it's going down the same road as Death Note...even though I liked it! What made Geass special was Lelouch's struggle of morality...and unlike Light, Lelouch was a relatively sane and caring guy. Makes me feel that's all gone... :whatevah:

I'm not sure if that would be possible. Since the first season ended in a cliffhanger (in like three different ways) they're going to have to start right where they left off I think. Trying to finish those bits off with falshbacks would be fail.

Oh, character developments are built up quite nicely. You gave up at episode 6, so you wouldn't know, but Hei's and Yin's character were beautifully well developed. Kirihara's character was also good, but not as developed as Hei's or Yin's.

Ah, yes. That means there are four main plot points now (Shirley knowing her memory's been erased) --- no, five plot points (how C.C. survives) that cannot be ignored from episode 24/25.

I watch my articles, and revert edits that are incorrect. :babies: But for the most part the contributions of others are positive.
I also went through the article for Shirley a while back and corrected grammar, did minor rewriting, ect on it. That's how I knew there was an article for her. ;)
I can't remember if you're in the group that reads Mirai Nikki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirai_Nikki) here, but the wikipedia article gets changed slightly with the current status of the characters every time there's a new chapter released (last paragraph for each character). Me and a couple other people do those once a month.

There wasn't that much fanservice in season one. Did you know Kallen starts the new season in a bunny girl costume? Seems like a rip off from MoHS now.

Taken with a grain of salt i've generally found most things i've read on wikipedia to be reasonably genuinely informative. Also I have found the odd bit of vandalism/bias usually sticks out like a sore thumb, having said all that I am never surprised when i find something sourced from wikipedia to be blatently false and I do agree that using it as any kind of authority is extremely silly :)

I believed they (Shinsen) said they would do it, their translation are very decent but they might not use the best fitting of words and their sentences are less fluid. Menclave has got the best translation basing on their job on Gundam 00.

Hmmmm. Is Menclave usually very slow in their releases? I note they are only on episode 5 of Shigofumi, which is finished.
Shinsen started subbing CG season one as a joint project with Ureshii, and one thing I noticed was the subs became more readable after Ureshii left because Shinsen changed to a non-serifed font and bumped the size up slightly.

I dont see many terrible ones, and if there sentence structure is poor, I just correct it based on my knowledge of English, and if possible the Japanese if I recognize the words/phrases they use. The only truly bad fansub I have ever come across was Flame of Recca. I dont know who did it, but the grammar and vocab was like 1st grade, and they would talk for like 30 seconds and the translation would be like "try harder next time" or some short one sentence generalization. Ruined the show imo. No other fansub has been like that. I am more obsessed with video quality that getting a perfect translation.

I don't like YM. Aside from mistranslations (to just NOT-translating whole dialogs...), they add random shit in their subs during at random times.
You'd think it'd be interesting to know tidbits, like with Rumbel and Gintama, but nyope.
If YM if subbing R2...then I'll be more than happy to wait for another group. If another group ain't picking up...guess I'll jus wait for the DVDs. :)

A little OT, but I was watching a movie where some of it was subtitled, and I was kind of impressed with how poor of a job they did. It was an American movie with a few foriegn scenes (dont remember the name of the movie), and I was shocked with how terible the grammar was and the talk to word ratio (everything someone says in another language means SOMETHING!). They skipped out on small talk completely and just gave us the important bits. Anyways, Hollywood has bad subbers, they should go the free fansubbers on the net :D

I've noticed that, but I'm interested in finding out how Zero has been X'd [executed] when he is very much alive. The only thing I can think of is Suzuku was killed when they shot at each other, and some other plox went on behind the scenes.
The way the explain those events would make the story, regardless of Gundam rip-off fight scene's. :P

Clamp could never do a true Gundam series though because they focus more on the characters than the mechs . . . most of the Gundam series' are a little plot and character development in between the "lets go blow shit up now" parts.
BTW: Karin in the closing is HOT as F**K (^_^);
The opening song is ok... better than the 2nd opening of season 1. I can't wait for the subs to be out!

Yeah DDL took me only half an hour. I wont even try torrents. They take like hours for me..
Usually it's the opposite for me. I just didn't want to have to reseed such a large file.
Edit: Okay, my download's finished now and I've realized why its so big, it's the HD broadcast... and I can't play it! The video runs in slower than real time so it loses sync with the audio. I had to watch the epsode on Veoh. :(

I downloaded mine in about 20 minutes using torrent. Of course by that time it had like 2000 seeders :D
@nx6: Don't you use MPC with a codex installed? That's what I use and it played perfect, at least as far as I could tell. Quality was pretty good :D

It does sound different, for almost the entire show. I think it's just his attitude before he regains his memory is a lot different, and that effects how he speaks. At the end it was starting to sound more normal.

It's not the player app. It really is my PC. I opened the process manager and the CPU was pinned at 100% while the file was playing. The issue is my graphics card has little hardware acceleration, especially for video playback, and this is an HD x264 video stream. My PC is from 2002, and its served me well, but I really am going to need to start building a new one soon. I'm on eBay looking for a graphics card to remedy things in the mean time. >_>
If it was AVI it probably would play due to much lower processing requirements needed for AVIs.

Yeah I agree. At the beginning, he forgot everything and was a so-called 'normal' person. And then at the end, you know what happens.

Their encode is of the HD broadcast, so an older machine might have issues playing it.

I had to re-watch the last 6 or 7 episodes of the first season because I had a hard time remembering what happened. Im glad I did because there were a lot of things I missed (it moves fast) or just flat out forgot.

Meh, I hate mkv files. They always lag and subs always overlap each other. I downloaded the first episode by gg last night and it lagged very bad, even with the latest version of VLC. So instead, I downloaded the avi by Eclipse. Avi ftw really...
