I can't believe there's no thread on this anime. It's already up to ep 9 and it's one of the most popular anime currently airing in Japan.

The story is about a teenager named Lelouch who witnessed the destruction caused by the Brittanian Empire and swear to challenge it in hopes of building a better country for him, his friends and his disabled sister. With the power of the Geass given to him by a mysterious girl, combined with his own unrivalled intellect, he aims to bring freedom to this treacheous world.

I was thinking about making a thread, but my experience here is that if people don't like something then they don't post about it. Anyway, it's a pretty good series. Lelouch is a pretty interesting character since he comes off Machiavellian at times. I also don't know if he really cares about justice or if he just wants to get back at his father. There's also a fair amount of political intrigue about who actually killed Lelouch's mother. Brittania's belief in social darwinism and how they treat conquered countries is pretty hilarious. Finally, there is Kallen fanservice in episode 9. Whooo!!! :Domo

Yes, Karen is my favourite girl in this series. Seems like she slapped Lelouch in ep 9 but don't know what exactly happen until the sub is out.

Hmm, do you also frequent Random Curiosity? On another topic, I'd suggest Souko no Strain. It's a fairly new mecha anime series. The relationship dynamics are pretty good with interesting characters. The show is also set up already to have a lot of tension between them because of the people who connect them. The ending theme Umi no Opal is beautiful.

I'm pretty sure Lelouch mouthed off to her. He seems like the kind of guy to say things regardless of how they will effect other people. Not to mention, his bruised face had kind of a smug/satisfied expression on it. I can't wait to see the drama unfold. What do you think her and Lelouch's relationship will develop through the series?

Yeah, I go to RC a lot. I really like their blogs, although I wished they would do several other series.

Lelouch doesn't seem very much the sentimental type so maybe he said something inconsiderate that caused Karen to get mad. Stupid Lulu, poor Karen. :(

I'm interested to know what her 'wish' is. It seems even Lelouch didn't know, but he agreed to the deal anyway. I guess it will remain a mystery until at least the half way point.

Maybe it has something to do with that whole "resurrection of the mythical kingdom!" shit when Lelouch received the Geass ability. She's an odd one though. To be honest, I couldn't care less if she was even in the series. I find it even less plausible to see her as someone's love interest.

Her name is revealed too lelouch but everytime it is said, it is covered up with a drop of water so you never actually hear it and as for the little controversy of suzaku getting geass, it never happened, just a bunch of images that made him go psycho. But the guren is on par with the Lancelot, so that is just awesome.

Well you cant really call the lancelot the best knightmare in the series, guren is practically on par with it in terms of fighting capability and why does everyone hate suzaku?? is it cause he is a girly man?

guren mk II even though powerful, is a one-trick pony. the claw acts as both defense and offense and when it is damaged, like what happened in the episode, she is forced to retreat because she doesn't have any other weapons she can use. raw power goes to guren but lancelot just has much more arsenal.

suzaku is an idiot who wishes for peace yet he joins he war, hoping to change it from within? how? he's so naive and he hasn't done anything yet to 'change' anything. all he does is pilot the super-duper next generation knightmare that was handed to him and spoil lulu's plan one after another. he's just like a test subject of the mad scientist.

Yea he's a total duche bag, all wars and true struggles require sacrifice. It's not nice but its true. lelouch realizes this but takes it to far in treating people like chess pieces, though it seems like he's getting away from that. Suzaku join a the army so he can save life, WTMF sense does that make? He's just a pansy ass my got i swear they cut his balls off for letting his father die. Naiive beyond belief. Also the fact that his raw ass gets to pilote the lancelot is so unrealistic.
Please mind-fu(ked to oblivion, or less a house-wife.

lelouch knows human are no chess pieces too and it's not like he's not valuing lives. it's his ego and pride that's making him look cold. he knows there will be sacrifices. he's manuevering his soldiers like chess pieces, yes, but he wants to end the war as quickly and as precisely as possible as to minimise the loss.

of course suzaku realizes nothing of this, all of his intervention ultimately leads to more battles and more deaths, which contradict his belief. in other words, he's the ultimate fool by jumping into wars with his mega-ultra-super-duper unfair knightmare and extending the war. even if he catches zero, zero will just be executed, and all Area 11 civilians will be as well. He cannot just 'voice' his opinion, although getting on Euphie's good side might be beneficial. it's still too naive to think he and euphie alone can convince everyone to stop killing each other.

he's basically just theres so the show doesn't end in 12 eps, adding some irony, and some cool fights. He shouldd be more of an annoying side character than a main annoying side character.

I just watched the 13 raw. Wow, I'm really hyped for what's going to happen next. It just goes to show you that personal relationships can only get in the way of a goal that requires ruthlessness. Although, it seems that Kallen is becoming a support for Lelouche. His responses to her during this episode seem to affirm that. I'll need to watch the sub to be sure though.

I have just started watching Code Geass a few days ago and have already watched up to epiosde 14. I really like this anime and I think this is one of the best mecha animes I have watched before! Yea i agree with you, it was kinda sad for this to happen. But i'm pretty sure he did all that just because he didn't want to hurt Shirley anymore and so the only way to cure it is to erase her memory. But your right this is nothing like death note. If it was Light i'm pretty sure he would kill her because i mean in the manga he doesn't really care bout whoever he kills as long as it doesn't stand in his way.

Yeah GG is being EXTREMLY nazi, they've actually made it so that their subs prey on the week sub display that VLC uses. THeir really high on there own power and if their was another group subbing i would have switched awhile ago.

Just finish watching episode 15. Not a bad one. Guess Shirley isn't really to disappear. Mao has disappeared from the entire series now. And i guess Lelouch and C.C. will now start to get along more often. In the preview it seems like everything is going to go to the next step and not just a simple battle but a more tense one then any other. Can't wait for the next episode.

i don't have a problem with the knightmare's particuarly. yes they are quite cliche but i don't think of Geass as a mecha anime so the mecha part of it isn't that important to me, i prefer the charecters and the story.

I started liking Code Geass in the 2nd episode when the Lancelot appeared. To me i thought that the Lancelot was pretty good layout no need for improvement or stuff but i didn't really like the Guren Mark 2 for some reason.

watched up to 15 and i have to say that there are some similarities with lelouche and light fron death note.

although the main differences is that lelouche still has some sense of "normal" morality whereas light is just insane (but omfg such awesome insanity). lelouche has his weaknesses, most notably his sister but light has much fewer, opting to depend on only himself.

id love to see lelouche actually develop and change his character somewhat, because he seems to appear to be a palletable asuka shin from GSD, whereas suzaku seems to resemble kira from gundam.

at this rate, lelouche might die in the end of this series since his character seems a bit too devious to be acceptable, even though i like him a lot when he appears a bit more human as opposed to a jerk lol.

also kallen might also die at the end of the series since she is so misguided by lelouche. but one person who i think will die before the series end is ougi, since he seems like the naive type who will die fast lol.

The quality may be bad but this is a godsend for ppl like me with small internet quota/slow internet. Each episode is around 30mb as opposed to 200mb avi but yeah when Ill get some better internet I will probably download the high quality files.
I hate how it is hard to distinguish japanese from non-japanese ppl in anime/manga. It's not good when you're told halfway into the story that a certain character is not japanese, it changes the way I think about such character and in Code Geass the nationality is a big issue.

suzaku is a f***ing perv and he's pretending to be a righteous, hero of justice. it pisses me off even more when he can dodge bullets like he did in ep 16. some invincible sob he is. argh, i haven't hated a character like him this much since god knows when.
