So Obvious You Can’t See It

“Everyone else could see it, why couldn't we?”
“Maybe we always could. Maybe we just never believed in it?”
“Do you feel that way about me?”
“You know I do. And I know you feel that way about me. We’ve made it so obvious.”
“Is it possible for me and you to…you know…get…together?”
“…I don’t know why it wouldn’t be.”
“Well because you’re a Shinigami. I’m only a substitute one.”
“You’re a better Shinigami than any I know. Better than anyone else in the Soul Society.”
“That’s not true, but thank you anyway.”
“It is. You managed to stop the execution. You managed to stop the power of a thousand zanpaku’s.”
“Barely. It was taking all my power.”
“Yes, but you had that power in the first place. No one else would have even done that.”
“I guess. But anyway, back to us. Could we…be together.”
“No one will stop us. And I can think of so many different people that would be happy for us.”
“…”
“…”
“So do you want to…”
“Want to what?”
“…do you want to…go…out?”
“…yes.”
“That took a while to answer. You sure this is what you want?”
“Of course I’m sure. I’m just so happy you asked.”
“…well I guess it’s ok then.”
With that, Ichigo took Rukia in his arms and held her close to his body. After all they had been through, this felt perfect. He didn’t want this moment to ever end. He wanted it to stay just him and Rukia. Alone. Together. Forever.
For a few minutes they just stood there enjoying the time in each others arms. Then slowly, Rukia took half a step back. She looked up, into Ichigo’s eyes. “Ichigo…I think I love you…” she said quietly, unsure of how he would take it. On hearing those words, Ichigo took half a step forward and placed his hands on Rukia’s face. He gazed into her eyes and whispered in her ear "I love you to". Then suddenly, seemingly from nowhere but really from a gradually increasing desire, placed his lips on hers and kissed her deeply. She seemed stunned, but quickly realised that she to had wanted this for a long time now. She took in what was happening and realised just how much she had wanted this. She used her lips to slowly move his lips apart and slowly slipped her tongue inside her mouth. Feeling her tongue, Ichigo slowly wrapped his tongue around hers and felt the warm moisture. They pulled each other closer, pressing their bodies against each others. The kiss started slow and seady, but soon became fast paced and passionate. He wanted her and she wanted him just as much. On and on they kissed, sometimes moving away from the mouth. Ichigo kissed up and down Rukia's neck while she gently bit into his shoulder.
Ichigo looked down at Rukia, asleep in his arms. After their kiss, they had laid down on the grass and stared up at the clouds and the moon. Son after, Rukia had fallen asleep and tucked her head into Ichigo’s armpit. Ichigo smiled, then sighed. He was tired as well. And with that, he closed his eyes and drifted off to dreams about Rukia and their future together.
