Inheritance Trilogy

[Kenken]

This thread is to discuss the Inheritance Trilogy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inheritance_Trilogy), which includes Eragon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eragon), Eldest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eldest) and the third book, which is still waiting to be released.

This book is kinda like a mix of star wars and the lord of the rings ... but is just as good. It's even set out to be the next Harry Potter or LOTR.

The story is about a boy who lives in a world where there were once Dragon Riders, who helped to keep peace in the different countries, but were betrayed by one of their own, and were thus destroyed...so, this boy finds a dragon egg, raises the dragon and becomes a Dragon Rider himself, with the help of many people along the way.

I've read Eragon already, am waiting to read Eldest when I get it for Christmas. :D

I think the movie doesn't do the book justice though. =/ It changes the storyline a bit...

I'm reading Eragon right now and enjoying it. The dragon is by far the most interesting character until now.

Its a great book i loved it! bought the second one, eldest straight after!
i really got into it from the start, as it isnt one of those books that takes ages to get to the point! I thought it was brilliant!

Well I am reading Eragon right now and I am nearly done with it.(pg.402 ch Ajihad) So far its awesome I can't put it down. My friend just gave me his Eldest so I can read it when I am done so I am excited to finish Eragon and start reading it. My friend says that in Eldest it gets even better so I am really excited.

I would give a 7/10. It was pretty good, but it wasn't great. The reason for that is that there aren't any original ideas used by the oauthor. Young boy finds a great treasure or power, sets out on a quest to save the world, differnt races, it has all been used before numerous times. Good book, though, if the author wasn't a teenager, i would give it a 6, though.

Well some friends ended up coming over. But I still ended up finishing it. It was awesome!

The last 100 pages were awesome. Being with the varden then the fight with the Urgals. Then Arya and Murtagh fighting along with Eragon. Then it was great when Eragon killed Durza. I am so excited to read the next one. I will start it tomarrow. It got incredible good at the end there I was amazed at how much I got into it during the fight it was great!!!

i dunno how i'm able to read so fast, but this may help: i never read all the words, i would usually skip a few sentences, and if it still amkes sense to me, then i don't really need to read the sentences i skipped; also, i skipped sentences that just describe places and such, but of course, i would read the book more than once :D

he was born in 1983, so he is a young adult now, although i believe he wrote his rough version of eragon at 15 O_o

not completely, i tihnk he wrote ergon when he was 15, but i'm pretty sure he edited some parts with the help of his family till the book was released. He is currently 23 O_O

well I am where they are talking about Roran. It's interesting. I am guessing he will betray Eragon since it was predicted a family member would betray him :P

It is an amazing book and I loved it soooooo much. Eldest is even better than eragon and eragon is amazing. The film looks great as well.

@everyone: i just bought and played the game... do you guys has any idea how hard it is to catch a freaking bird while riding saphira? i have to catch 4, and been trying for 1 hour and i've only managed to catch 1 >.<

another way of putting it is that you remember how brom told eragon how would the riders teach the new riders control magic? by making them try impossible tasks... catching a bird while riding saphira in the game is one of these tasks >.<

@cher: i tried again and did it in 10 minutes!!! but the next level is hard, cos saphira is under the trees and you ahve to rescue her, and the ra'zac will try to stop you, the first two tries is easy cos only one ra'zac attacks you, but the next one both of them attack you!!! got so angry and started swearing last night O_o

no, that doesn't work, cos they will still hit you and lower your health, and they don not give you much time to free saphira, so the best way is to lure them towards the camera, and let brom take care of them, and then free saphira, still is pretty hard in difficulty easy >.<

oh and i forgot to grab the egg, so i'll have to do it again :cussing:

oh, in eldest you also get the names of saphira's parents :)

Well, not ALL books, but many. It's usually not how good they are but how popular they are.

Christopher Paolini actually came to our school whenever it first came out and we got these first print copies that were autographed. It was pretty cool.. but yeah, I loved the book

I'm gonna ip the movie up. Yes I have read both books so far.
I found the movie displeasing in many ways mostly bacuse of the time skips but we can't do much about that. Next the character;s appearences, as far as I remember Eragon has dark brown hair and Arya has black/dark brown too. I didn't like how they showed Saphira becoming fully grown in about 2 minutes either. Brom didn't die at the hands of Durza, which really pissed me off and Arya is supposed to be unconsious too. Dwarves made no entrance. Saphira breathed fire before she was supposed to...and prolly if I had the time.

On another note: Does anyone know of the release date for the third?

omg man i love eragon and eldest i've read each like 5 times. (dont really tell people about the movie who haven't seen it yet) even though i haven't seen it i hate the actor for the movie already he looks like he's bad for the part and they should have found someone that matches the description of the book.
