Just finished watching this one... Everyone did a pretty good job on the voices... I like the voice of Yourichi in cat form ^^

... but Renji's *bawls eyes out* OMFG AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL !!! :sad He sounds like a fruit cake!!

And now we'll have to wait 2 weeks before hearing Byakuya's voice... damn inuyasha movie marathon >.< I hate AS around the holidays...

Renji did sound pretty bad. Hopefully he gets better as the anime goes on and his few lines toward the end of the episode was just a warm up for what's to come.

And yea.. booooooooo @ inuyasha marathon.

I like how Urahara talked to Yoruichi. I gotta give him props for acting playful; he did a good job at it. Yoruichi's cat form ain't bad, either. Kon is wonderful.

Renji... on the other hand, sucked. Renji's voice is freaking high. He is suppose to have this low, impulsive and arrogant sounding voice. He sounds like Ishida more than anyone else >.<

Ugh. I was expecting Renji to have a much deeper voice.

And hopefully, Yvese is right about it just being a warm-up. If not, then it's going to suck when Renji's role gets larger during the SS arc. He does a lot of chatting during that time, and it would be difficult to have to stomach that voice. =_="

Renji only has that one line doesnt he? "I've found you... kuchiki rukia" (or something of that ilk... I don't reckon we should judge how bad his voice is purely from that one line... yet the wait til the 6th Jan is gonna be awful... how dare they put such a cliffhanger (ok, we all know whats "gonna" happen... but you know what I mean) in now!

It was more that just one line. But I don't think Renji's voice was as horrible as people here make it out to be. Granted, I don't like it and definitely don't think it suits him at all, but I remain hopeful it will improve. BTW, dub will be uploaded onto youtube sunday afternoon, just as soon as I can download the episode.

pretty good episode, Kon scheming was still funny. the voices seem to be getting better and the dub is quite good... as for renji umm we'll have to wait and see.

Every once in a while, you see something that sucks so bad that it redefines your perception of awful. This episode was like that. Renji's voice made want to kill myself, and Youruchi in cat form wasn't much better. All it did was make me think: why did Viz Media get Bleach? Why didn't Funimation get it?

I actually thought renji's VA was pretty decent. There was nothing wrong with the acting itself, although i'll hold off on calling it "good" until i hear more of it. Sure it's different from his japanese voice, but I wouldn't call it "wrong" just yet. I think renji could be portrayed convincingly with a higher voice. That's part of the reason I watch dubs, they often interpret the characters in new and interesting ways.

^yeah I thought it was weird but I think that's because we haven't heard more of it... It would be interesting to hear Byakuya's VA. I hope they don't mess up on HIM.

renjis voice wasnt bad, it just doesnt seem to fit him...
yoruichi's cat voice is ok, but its so different from her japanese voice that it was kinda wierd.

omg the part where urahara saw yoruichi was so damn hilarious, waaaaay funnier than in the original japanese version. "youre my fuzzy little troublemaker yes you are! now whos your daddy, hmm?" lol

and whats with everyone saying "death to inuyasha" and crap like that? its not inuyashas fault, its adult swims fault! jeez. and i for one am kinda glad they are showing the fourth movie, i havent seen it and i refuse to settle for watching it on youtube. but i am also upset for having to wait two weeks to hear if they screwed up byakuyas voice.

whatever, i enjoyed this episode a lot.

Not a bad voice actor, but the wrong actor for the part, I agree that he does sound more like what I thought Ishida would sound like, and I'm really getting tired of them calling him by his first name >.<

If I remember correctly, Kuchiki doesn't speak until ep 17. That's the episode when he steps in before he strikes Renji. Could be wrong though.. havn't seen it in like a year >_>.

Having now seen it (Kudos FMI) I can say that Yoruichi in cat form has a perfect voice, its just as deep and stylistically as I imagined it would be. Renji's voice is not so, but from one line I can't say it would be fair to judge... ok, its not as gravelly as I would like it, and it didn't "seem" to fit the character, but it wasn't awful...

When ep 16 rolls around we will get a better idea! Fingers crossed

Hey, I'm new to Club Bleach, I've been watching Bleach on Adult Swim ever since it started and I'm hooked! I didn't know so many episodes went by already in Japan. I've only seen what's aired on AS so far.Well just keep this in mind: All/most anime on AS were from Japan and dubbed, and most of the time Japan is 1-2+ years ahead in episodes.

I've mentioned how I felt about this episode a few times in other places, so I'll just give the shorthand.

Yoruichi's voice isn't an old man voice, but I guess it works. I'm disappointed that Terrence Stone is voicing the cat and not Byakuya. Makes me wonder by whom Byakuya is going to be voiced.

I also hated Renji's voice. Terrible casting decision. I was hoping for something more like Lex Lang, sort of punkish and low. Renji's like a wild animal, a stray dog, not a guy with a geeky nasal drawl.

If I remember correctly, Kuchiki doesn't speak until ep 17. That's the episode when he steps in before he strikes Renji. Could be wrong though.. havn't seen it in like a year >_>.In episode sixteen, Byakuya says a little bit more than nothing. Most of the episode goes by with him going "Rukia" one time, but the last half has him talking a bit more. We'll get to hear what he sounds like next episode.

They won't be showing it on Adult Swim for a while, but I'm sure some Canadian viewers will get the episode on schedule and upload it to the internet.

Ok Byakuya, is he the guy that was in Rukia's flashback in episode 9 with Grand Fisher and Ichigo was fighting the hollow, was that the same guy? Or is he some like mentor, at the Soul Reaper school? Yes or no will do cause I don't want to get ahead of what i'm watching...
Well then I'll just say no, he's not. He's much closer to Rukia.

Urahara was priceless in this episode. Yoruichi was odd but had the same feel as the original cat voice. Renji was too pleasant sounding. Renji's voice actor in the Japanese version, in my opinion, has a very abrasive voice thats very hard to duplicate without coughing up phlegm:Haha . Still optimistic about Renji but I'm pretty confident about Byakuya since the kind of male voice actors revealed so far have very Byakuya-like demeanors and voices.

Yeah Urahara is usually calm and kept to himself and this one, he wants to take care of the cat and all that, not 100% but that was all an act right to throw suspicion off of the cat's true identity which I still don't know btw, but that was surprising to see the cat start talking out of the blue...

Suffice to say if you've only just entered the Bleach world you've got a lot of interesting stuff waiting ahead of you. I'd be interested to hear how you think the Sub compares since most people on here can't stand the dub since they saw the japanese sub first.

Yet back to the ep... I just loved Urahara in this ep, his reactions to Yoruichi were fantastic, perfect, utterly awesome... and then all of a sudden when things got serious??? I really felt the tension and the modd of the situation tighten....

Yoruichi rocks... I was surprised to hear it talk too and even more surprised to learn of its true identity!

Yep, this dub has got what it takes... but Rukia still hasn't...

You'll hear for pretty much any show the sub is better (with a few notable exceptions ), that doesn't mean its always the truth.
