I know it's a personal question, so if you don't wanna answer, don't do this.

I'm katholic. Am I religious?... Not sure, my mum says I know more teolog than some priests. But from the other hand I'm 16 and I still don't have confirmation (if everything would be on time in my parish I shuld have it year ago). I know it's nothing big, but still...

So, what are You?

Catholic....I have had 12 years of catholic education and am pretty religious. I know a lot about the bible and the religion. I attended mass for awhile, before not attending it due to many activities coming up. I still attend during the religious holidays though.

umm... let me think... hmmm.. I think I'm christian protestant (or something like that). Anyway, I do not believe in god an other christian stuff. I haven't had confirmation either, dunno why you should do it, sounds so troublesome..

But i do believe in living day by day, without worrying about the future. I don't think I'm an Atheist, but I just don't think about these christian things..

I was riased Catholic. Been in a religious controvercy all my life. My mother and her side of the family are catholic while my fathers side is Strictly Adventist. Excluding my father and his mother, they are Spiritualists. You know people who believe in dreams and what not, some freaky thang. For me, being in this crossfire of beliefs, I've been led to question a lot.
As for my religion, I consider myself more Naturalist then anything. Believeing in one god, yes, but not the same way most others do. If i were to ascosiate(sp) myself with a religion it would have to be Buddhism/Taoism.
As for being religiuos, Of course, In my own Faith.
I do honestly believe that difference in Religion does not utterly matter, as long as everyone does believe in their morals and principals, and respects each others views and thoughts.

I think I would be...agnostic deiist?
I'm not sure if there is a God or not, but if there is he definitely doesn't care about us (thats just my view - don't take it personally anyone).

MooL
02-20-2006, 09:13 PM
Wow, I've never heard anyone say they were a deiist before. I mean, Ben Franklin was a deiist. That's really cool, itsovernow.

Well, I was born into a Protestant Southern Baptist family, and I'm still quite faithful to it. Like theif.13, I talk to God every day and he's pretty much my confidant and best friend.

I can't say I'm insanely religious, (Though it's a big part of my life and I do belong to two churches) but I do go to church almost every Sunday, though I do admit to skipping sometimes. Up until last year, I'd go to church every Wednesday, too, but due to school and some traveling complications, I haven't been making it.

I lost my interest on the way.
The main reason is because I realised it does not matter if you abide by the rules or not, like drinking alcohol, praying, etc. the only thing that matters in life is if you are a good human being or not, since when you die, it's over, no other life (heaven&hell) and if you are strong enough to accept that fact you don't need religion to be in your life.

Random Havoc
02-21-2006, 03:50 AM
There are other advantages to religion... but that of caurse depends oin your definition of religion, for me, my definition, I'd agree with you though.

I'm Hindu. Or supposed to be. I don't be lieve in our Gods... since we got quite a few :P but I don't know I know the religious plays by heart, kinda like the bible but with more action :P I've been completely Atheist but until I got a gold chain of a "Om" sign on my neck, I've been wearing it everyday, I never take it off.

Seeing all the time, changed me a bit. Note I'm still not "religious"... I don't pray per say. But I have my own ways...

If lets say I see something funny, but it's not quite right to laugh about, or if I see something bad. Or if I feel I need luck during a nervous moment or something, I'd either hold on to my necklace and say a little something, like "Give me the courage" or "I know I was laughing, but it's crual, I'm glad I don't need to suffer like that and I'm thankful" or "I know these thoughts can be normal but for what it's worth, I never wish for it to happen". Something along those lines.

It's really that which led me to truly believe that God as a being is not important, religion as a fanatic guide is like a double edge blade. All that I know is that I'm actually a good person at heart and that I hope to remain so.

That my friend is my religion, yes, that's it. I can't give it name, but that's what my personal religion is.

Of course they don't, the catholic religion believes that Christ is the savior, the true son of god. While the jewish faith either rejects him or sees him as another prophet.

I'm a buddhist at least that's what my parents are. I think I'm more of a freethinker. I do whatever I feel is right and I don't stick to religion rules. Agnostic...borderline athiest. Which in turn means that I'm not very religious at all. To me religion is stupid and just a means to an end, which makes me wonder about a lot of things. Sorry if I seem a little controversial when I say this but this is what I believe - religion kills, faith does not. This is the reason I think that religion is a means to an end.

Took, for most part, the words right outa my damn mouth lol.

I agree with you the most on the "free thinker" I dont need to be tied down to certain religiuose morals and principals to question my every thought and action. Hence I do shit when I want to for the reason I want to.

As for being a rebel of religion, I would say I'm not, cuzz I never followed any religion in the first place, so I can't say I'm a rebel. I just go with my own flow, wherever life may take me.~

Atheist. Religions are nothing more than another person's beliefs being forced upon you. And with so many claiming they're right and no one else is....I believe they're all wrong.

I've argued this point extensively. It's rather fun. :)

I'm a Catholic, and religious? I'd say about 50-50. :/ I seldom go to mass, though, except for occasions like Christmas and Easter and such. I felt guilty about it once, ATTEMPTED to read a little of the Bible, and got to page three before scrapping the idea and picking up a volume of Angel Sanctuary.

I'm Catholic and went to a Catholic primary school. I am the least holy of all my pals from primary school. I never go to mass, never took my first reconciliation or communion and definately not my confirmation. I was only baptised. I dont know if there is a heaven, but i highly doubt it. I just want to live my life to the fullest while i have the time to live. If there is a God, then please forgive me for what I have written.

Born and raised a Muslim myself. I believe in God and in Heaven and Hell. I believe that every action I take is one that will make me someday end in either places. I pray regularly and try to recite a little of the Quran (spelled as the Koran sometimes) whenever I have time. So in a sense yes I'm religious :).

I'm not really religious or anything, but like christians believe god created the earth I believe the scientific explanation first of all. But that starts from a gas cloud or something. There must have been some power that started it all, like from nothing to the gas cloud or whatever the beginning's supposed to be. I believe in that power/entity/thing/... whatever I'm supposed to name it.

I'm still not the most religious guy. But i do put a few minutes aside each day, to contemplate (if not mediate) on life, etc.

religion is a powerful thing. that's why I'm here today (Kandahar Afghanistan)

and though i am a Christian and would like for others to share in my beliefs, there is no way I would force it on anyone nor would I despise anyone whose beliefs differ. however, i do get pissed when people just outright blast others' faiths with willful ignorance... like I said before, I won't push my beliefs on others because that wouldn't make me any different than the Taliban. That's why it's called "belief". Not "force into submission to agree".

i'm happy to see though that everyone here is respectful of others' beliefs... ha, can you believe, though I'm a Christian, I also have buddhist beliefs (buddhism has no God, so it's compatable with my beliefs as a Christian, hah) and I have acquaintances and friends who are muslim and even satanist.

I'm recieving the 'Sacrement of Confirmation' in May. Grrrr... next week I have confession... oh boy I've got heaps of sins. Haven't been in confession for years... and I've only done it once.

When I grow older, I doubt I would even go. My sister's in uni and lucky for her she doesn't have to go anymore.

But I still have to do stuff like Ash Wednesday, Good Friday... and Lent has already started. Oh boy... lots of masses this month.

I don't hate those people who say religion is quite pathetic, but I feel sorry for them...why? because having nothing to believe into is almost like saying that you're life is a huge bogus...it's a pity that they don't realize the purpose of having religion anyway...but...

This might sound weird, but... I'm not really religious, and I don't believe in anything... but it's not that I don't believe there is Something Else. It's like, I don't believe, but I don't disbelieve. I'm rather wishy-washy about it, I suppose. XD

Okay, imagine you are told something that's rahter incredible by a friend. Since it's so incredible, you find it hard to believe. Yet, it was your friend that told you, so you don't really disbelieve, either. It's just something you keep in mind, and think upon every now and then, until you are shown the Truth.

I guess that about sums it up with me.

I'm Christian Babtist, been raised in my faith since I was a baby. I believe in God, I pray to him, I respect him, and I love him. Though I've been raised and forced into my religion so I'm kind distant because it has been routine for so long that church just seems like a chore. Yet I still go to church(still being forced) so you could call me religious to a point.

o.O didnt expect 3 hindus (RH, rohil(sp) and zanga!) I am hindu too. hey zanga, by any chance, do u speak tamil( thats teh language some people in south india and sri lanka speak, for those who dont know) because i am tamil too. anyways, my family is very religious and i am kind of the oddball. although i tend to be more religious than te average person. some times people think i am religious to the brink of sainthood sometimes my faith wanes to the level of an atheist. but I think religion is a very important part of the life within and it has no part in the life without. that is in worldly extrovertional things, religion should play no part. and to those who think religion is the cause of misery etc., i would like to point out that its the people that abuse religious sentiments and not the religion themselves that are the cause. and i think there is an essential element of truth in all religions. I recently read somewhere as to how religious faith is an evolutionary trait in that a religious community has a better chance at survival as it sets moral values that are good for the health of the community as a whole. In any case, i enjoy philosophical and spiritual discussions and read a lot of books pertaining to this topic. I believe our religion has a wealth of thoughtprovoking books and other works with very deep understanding of the philosophy of life.

Amen, brother SLVR!

I myself sort of lean toward believing in something similar to the concept of the Brahman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahman), in that I believe in a collective nature to and origin of the human soul. I've also heard too much about memories of past lives and whatnot to not believe that there's something to the concept of reincarnation. To be honest, I don't think there is any one religion that is the "true" religion. All have seeds of truth if you ask me, but no one is more "true" than another.

IMO Science proves God's existance not vice versa.

Case and point. If I put the components to your computer infront of you and said. You can use it but nobody can put it together would it ever function? Nope, you need someone to put it together.

If I had the components to create life there would need to be a creator also.

I am religious, I'm a follower of the old earth-based religions, akin to wicca, and the other neo-pagan religions,
Its just easier to call my self a pagan.
I believe in a goddess and a god, as being two different parts of the same unknowable being, the masculine side, and the feminine side.
I am very religious, I talk to my goddess daily, and my god, less so much.
They are there with me through the hard times, and through the good times, traveling the path i take with me, picking me up when i fall, keeping me going when i want to give up.

[kinda off-topic]From the religious people ive talked to, its a common belief of a follower of one of the major religions, to believe that the other religions are false.
IMO all gods/goddesses are the same being, they are the destination, the particular religion is just the path we travel to get there.[/end off-topic]

None. I don't believe in God/whatever.

I think God was made (people thought up of it) because everyone would like to believe that there is an almighty being controlling them. Everyone wishes for a powerful leader that is peaceful and nice that can create supernatural effects.

Think about it. If you do something bad, and there's no one to blame except yourself, you might blame it on God!

Though Honestly, I am mostly Shinto Based. I am pretty religious and often quarrel with myself. But in the same notion I am still open to discovery. I try and honestly say that all or most all have a possibility to exist but I am pretty against Islamic religions (Jew/Christian/Musleum/ect...) simply because of a few things I disagree with. But whatever you believe in is up to you and I won't force it on you, Though I am willing to teach (of course I am still learning so...). I plan on someday becomeing a wandering Onmyoji (Onmyodo Priest-Mage.)

The purpose of this thread is for survey purposes and not degenerative. It is not to create barriers. The polls only contain the GENERAL classification of the religion so please just abide by that.

If you do not like to reveal you religion then you may not post anything, the important thing is to vote. Thank you

I don't mind it provided that its completely insult-free. Should I or the other staff members catch the glimpse of someone making fun of any other person's religion that person will be instantly and permanently banned.

I'm a Muslim. I.e. My religion is Islam ever since I was born. I'm a firm believer in my religion, but I can't really say I'm religious.

Eh... denominationally, I'm Pure Land Buddhist, as just about everybody else in my family is. If I were in Japan, I'd also take part in Shinto rites as well though, so I'm not sure whether to classify myself as one more than the other or just to say that I'm both.

Nah, seriously, I've given a lot of thought to the whole Religion biz, and decided that I'll make my decision based on whatever happens after I die.

So, whatever religion that thinks it's pointless to have a religion, that's me. I'm -not- atheist, because that would mean that I don't believe in anything. I think I do... Though my mind is a bit vague on just what that is. :3

I'm Christian, prostestant. More specifically Evangelic Lutheran (or however it's spelled). Like all Lutherans though, I'm pretty free from the church, however. I do believe, but in my own way :)

The poll's at the top of the start post of the thread, on the very first page ^_^

i am an eclectic pagan, i work with a wiccan coven at this time. i practice regular moon rituals and sabbats. i generaly do not do magic workings unless it is for protection and healing.

i am a natrual witch, empathic, telepathic and healer. i do divinations and the like as well.

i grew up with no real path my parents let me try out what ever religon i wanted, they didnt force me to do anything i didnt want to do and didnt make it a requirement.

i found i was a witch a few years ago, and when i came out of the broom closet all of my friends who stayed friends with me said what you didnt know you were a witch, i always thought you knew but just never mentioned it. it was pretty odd.

so i guess i have been a witch all my life, although i never really praciticed till a few years ago.

whats a mormon? i heard about it from a movie. you me and dupree :D

the librarian was a mormon. and she did some ,,,,, interesting things.

i am a roman catholic. i have yet to comprehend the differences between catholism and christianity. i live across the street from a christian church(thats what my mom calls it) but my family doesnt go to it. we drive an hour across the city to go a catholic church. I am stuck at a cross road where i dont totally believe in the religion but i dont disregard it as garbage either.

if anyone culd explain the diff between catholic and christianity do tell.

we are faced with consequences every day
or is karma supernatural?

bbnflpn
12-28-2006, 09:56 PM
i really dont know i should think about that for a while. i dont belive that it is supernatural however. it is the cause and effect of your actions baised on free will.

if you have done something bad, then you will (even if it takes years) eventually get the effects of the thing you did that was bad.

same thing with good karma.

i try to do good things with my life, yet bad things happen. im thinking that it has to do with left over karma from my past life. but the things that i belive are bad in my life, are usualy happening for a reason. so the bad things are actually good.

(i hope that was understandable)
