Ah hah! Caught you. If you do not want to be scarred for life or the equivilant of having your eyes burned, stop here.

This ain't no 18+ thread; it's all facts and it's not pretty.

You have been warned.

=============
Feel free to start off with an embarrassing question. Anyone, anyone?
=============

A few guidelines, please:

1. Though any advice may be given, please do not confuse this thread with some of the other "growing up" threads (i.e. specific relationship advice, smoking, etc.)

It is possible someone will ask "girly questions" or general love advice but for specific questions, ("I have a crush on so-and-so, how do I..." or "I want to stop smoking, how do I...") please use their respective threads.

2. When I created this thread, I understood completely well that it was going to be public. Before you post, please also understand that things you may say, many people (of the opposite sex and otherwise) are also equally welcomed to view and post in this thread.

It's all in good fun, though. :3

Lol not that many may be willing to share their secrets or probably lie about them.

Embarrassing question, huh? *thinks*

LOL. MooL. I thought I sensed something coming from you.

Spoilers? Okiedokey...
My first period was when I was eleven (year 7/6th grade). The night before, I had really bad cramps. To be honest, I thought I had diarrhea or something. XDDD

The next morning, I got up and went to the loo. When I looked at my underwear there was this reddishbrowney patch. I ignored it - thought it was a VERY big skid mark; changed my underwear, got ready for school. I put my blood-stained underwear in the wash.

During morning assembly, I got a text message from my mum saying something like, "CAT. YOU HAVE YOU'RE PERIOD. GO TO THE NURSE AND GET A PAD". Freaked me out a bit at first. =P

When I went home, my mum just told me about pads/tampons and stuff like that. I knew most stuff already... because I am well informed. HEHE.

About mine:

Honestly I don't even remember my reaction when I first got it. I think I was around 13 or 14 years old. But I was already informed about those things a year ago before I got it that's why I don't think I panicked or anything.

I still can't really tell when I'm about to get my periods. I usually think the pain might be from tummy upsets or like adork mentioned, diarrhea XD

adorkable
01-03-2007, 10:59 AM
HEHE. Diarrhea. =P

I know when I usually get them. But really, I don't mark them on calenders and such. I just get them. So what. A few drops of blood. Myuh. XD

It's either cramps which inform me if I'm about to get my period.
Or probably just the usual PMS. I get bitchy really easily. D:

i really dont remember,

i think i was in 5th or 6th grade
i thought yay im a woman now, and this totaly sucks, i had a rough time with my period and ended up having to go on the pill when i was 14, my mom thought it was a good idea cause if i was gonna have sex then be safe about it we told dad of course that it was cuase of my painful and irregular cycles lol) im off the pill now and it sucks again

btw you shouldnt go on depo girls it is cool cause you dont get periods but you gain alot of weight, but then again it effects every one differntly

Evanesque

Tell me about being bitchy! I go on a screaming rampage! o_0
That's why when I have my periods, no one asks me to do anything because every little thing irritates me and I make a huge fuss. Although as a result, I find myself suffering more pain because of putting too much pressure on myself.

I hate it but I can't control it -.-'

EDIT: bbn, you're female??! XD I honestly didn't know :redbiggri

lol you have no idea how many people think im a guy. or a lesbian or bi. im also older too, i actually use to be a guide for the health and beauty forum on another board, so i thought i would come in here and give my 2 cents lol.

yah pms that sucks too, for a while there i would only have relationships with guys for about a month, i thought wow i must have some really bad pms. i dont get it as bad as i use to though.

if it is that bad have you thought about looking in to pmdd (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) its like pms 10fold and it goes mis or undiagnosed in alot of girls and women.

http://www.healthyplace.com/communities/depression/pmdd.asp

here are some symptoms

* over the course of a year, during most menstrual cycles, five or more of the following symptoms must be present:
o depressed mood
o anger or irritability
o difficulty in concentrating
o lack of interest in activities once enjoyed
o moodiness
o increased appetite
o insomnia or hypersomnia
o feeling overwhelmed or out of control
o other physical symptoms
*

symptoms that disturb social, occupational, or physical functioning
*

symptoms that are not related to, or exaggerated by, another medical condition

this is always good imformation to have even if you do not have it, you can help a freind or sister ect.

lucky for me the sex education system out here starts you off when you are in 4th or 5th grade. so i knew what i was going to be going through.

a friend of mine who is a teacher said that the girls are going through puberty earlier and earlier, she has a 3rd grade class and a few of them started their cycles already and some of them have even started devloping breasts.

i developed early and pretty much went from nothing to a DD in a bout a week. i have to deal with F cups now. and i hate my pms cause they hurt so badly

also for those of you who are sexually active. you should think about having sex while you are having cramps (even if you are bleeding) ok the guys find this gross, but really blood washes off, its a natural function) the penatration (and really deep penatration so that it hits the top of your uterus) is a bit of a message, and even more so if you have an orgasam. you could probably get some releif if you just have the orgasam if you dont have a guy who is willing or are currently not sexually active.

Thanks for the info bbn...um, what should I call you?

@xaimai: spoilers are really easy to put.

Just do this, I hope it's not confusing. Just read and put the stuff it says. I put the signs and examples in stars:

1. Start bracket *[*
2. Write Spoiler *spoiler*
3. Equals *=*
4. Double quote *"*
5. Write title *periods*
6. End bracket *]*
7. Write your text *I got my periods*
8. Start bracket *[*
9. Front slash */*
10. Write spoiler *spoiler*
11. End bracket *]*

:)

sorry about the double post some one had responded by the time i was done writing the first post, i try not to do that, my puter is kind of a junk heap and it has some issues with edits and what not, this forum seems to be ok but a few of them im on they actually get eaten, some times i forget and click the respond button instead of the edit one. some times i loose my whole browser and even copy paste doesnt save what i had written.

Lol...it's ok bb...just be careful :)

Well then back to the cramps. That's a nice line you passed for those who are sexually active. Also (I'm not sure) they say there's no risk of pregnancy when you have unprotected sex during your periods...I think there's a specific time within that period phase of course, definitely NOT when it just begins.

bbnflpn
01-03-2007, 11:52 AM
that is a myth.

the time when the egg is relesed is not always when you are not having your preiod. you can get pregnant while you are on your cycle.

sperm can stay alive for about 24-48 hours (i think) and even if you do not have sex while the egg is relased you can get pregnant if the sperm is still live when it is.

oddly enough my mom got pregnant while on her period. they were having problems getting pregnant. the dr said well before we do tests to see if you are infertile you should try having sex every day for a few months, my dad was discusted by this cause he didnt like to have period sex. sure enough mom got pregnant right away during her period.

you should always have protected sex, with condoms, and bcp if nessisary unless you are trying to have a baby. if you have multiple partners you should always wear condoms, or if you are worried about the guy having multiple partners. i would use them with out fail untill you have been together (monogomously) and have had regular clean std tests for over a year (for everything including hiv/aids, gonnorhea, syphilus, trichominosis, herpes, all of it).

Evanesque
01-03-2007, 11:59 AM
Ah thanks for clearing up that myth...I was unsure of it myself :)
You know what? This thread's gonna help a lot of us girls out lol

bbnflpn
01-03-2007, 12:05 PM
ill do my best to help. education is a good thing. when i post info i will be sure to have links so you can further research issues. it will also help out guys. they tend to be squeemish about these things, but they need to know as well.

thinks you might suggest to a guy for keeping menstural supplies even if he does not live with a woman.

they make great sanitary non stick wound dressings, and tampons are good for sucking chest wounds. my dad was a corpsman and he would always have extras in his pack, it came in handy when i busted a suture on my hip. its a hard place to bandage so we stuck a pad to my underwear (the scar was on my bikini line) and went to the dr while it bled out. he said he never thought of that before.

other useful things for cramps, heat packs, and some yoga positions. although in the pracitce of yoga it is said that you should not do yoga while you are on your period i dont know why though. i think its a spiritual thing.

Evanesque
01-03-2007, 12:11 PM
Many people have religious and spiritual restrictions when it comes to periods, so it is understandable.

Thanks a lot bb for helpin out...much appreciated +rep. Of course, many can post the myths they hear and we (if we're sure about the answer) can confirm it.

@xaimai: YeAY! I'm so glad it helped. I was afraid you might get confuzzled *hugs*

bbnflpn
01-03-2007, 12:20 PM
not a problem, you dont have to rep me for it, im glad to help i dont like girls going around misinformed about things like this.

most recent wtf moment reguarding a myth, my freind had a forgin exchange student (from viatnam and she is going to college so shes about 19 now) was afraid to use a tampon cause she was afraid that it would devirginize her.

that is not true, you will still be a virgin if you use a tampon.

things that are true reguarding hymens (the little peice of skin that brakes when you have sex for the first time)

you can brake a hymen with out having sex. it happens mostly to active girls, or girls who have had trauma in their pelvic region. this does does not mean that you are not a virgin any more. you are no longer a virgin when you have been penatrated by a penis. some cultures may differ on that though.

it is true that the hymen is use to determin virginity status, so if it has broken you will have a hard time proving that you are not a virgin.

for me i thought that i would have broken it from running track and riding horses, nope, infact it was so thick that it didnt brake the first time i had sex. it was a very painful experience, and traumatized the poor guy who couldnt brake it lol. it bled away over a few days like i had my period. if i had not had sex i wouldnt have known that it was broken.

Evanesque
01-03-2007, 12:32 PM
Ah...that's good information. Yep..it's true a lot of cultures and religions are against pre-marital sex and if your hymen breaks (due to reasons other than sex) the woman faces a hard time proving she's a virgin. It's sad that some societies aren't open to consider facts and just live off assumptions and stereotypes.

That's what I think too, you're still a virgin until your hymen breaks while being engaged in sexual activity, not when you wear tampons.

As I mentioned before, because of some societies' attitude towards virginity, many women just choose to avoid anything that may risk breaking their hymen...

sorry my puter was having some problems, i tried to post this, luckily i didnt loose it. anyway, i will do some more research on sexual issues in different cultures tomorrow if needed, for now off to bed.

recently i read a news article some where, about some place in europe who was getting an influx of hymen repair surgery because of the strict values of virginity in some other contry (i forget where) they actually do virginity tests before marriage, so they would run off to like france to get the repair surgery so they wouldnt have to go through what ever it is they had to go through.

and in another contry (i think guam) it is actually illigal to get married unless you are no longer a virgin. so this guy goes around deflowering young women lol.

said post...
when i found out about sex i thought why would this so looked down on, why is there no sex before marriage, why is it a sin. i was actually kicked out of several bible studies cause of this.

i thought to my self, i dont care if i am married i will have sex if i want too. if i love the guy it souldnt matter if i am married to him or not, love should be shared.

ok i have been around the block a few times lol. of course my way of living is not for every one, to me phyiscal love is just as important as mental love. and it should be shared. i still love every one that i have been with, i will never stop loving them, i just love them in a different way.

i love the guy that i am with now, we have been together for 5.5 years, and i would never be with another person (unless he says its ok hehe) sure i will miss random encounters but you know what it got old after a while.

well the reason why we do things facinates me, i made a thread once about the history of shaving,

you should look up the werid sex laws around the world, interesting stuff.

Evanesque
01-04-2007, 05:42 AM
I think I've heard about those sex laws from my boyfriend. I think one of them was that in some place if you're having bondage, the guy is not allowed to whip the woman unless the belt is so-so long and wide....XD

bbnflpn
01-04-2007, 08:10 AM
actually its its illigal to hit your wife (non bondage related) unless the belt is 1/4 in wide or somthing like that

i looked up cultures and i couldnt find anything worth posting, sex laws i can find, those are amusing, but if we want spacific cultural stuff let me know and i will look for it, i guess im looking for too much generality or somthing.

here are a few.

http://www.dribbleglass.com/subpages/strange/sexlaws.htm
http://www.weirdsexlaws.com/
http://www.goofball.com/jokes/facts/INC20050824151405

edit i found the law its located in los angeles ca, (i think there was another one i found this at the wierdsexlaws.com site
A man is legally entitled to beat his wife with a leather belt or strap, but the belt can't be wider than 2 inches, unless he has his wife's consent to beat her with a wider strap. Consent should be given prior to the event, as is carefully stipulated.

Somehow I just knew the first question would be about periods. XD

Anyway, here's my story: got it in 7th grade--no big deal. Unforunately, my mom didn't sign my permissoin slip to the hygiene program in 5th grade, so I was pretty much oblivious to the happenings and things. Didn't think I was dying or anything; it was just kind of odd.

At the first, I had no problems with cramps, PMS, or any of that. And then sometime after 9th grade, I started getting them more FULL BLAST. The first time I got a cramp, I sort of passed out in my bathroom (whilst in the shower). I thought I was dying. ;_;

The second most extreme time was at school, in my last block of the day. I rode the bus, so I had to walk (cramping) all the way down two hallways with these starry like fuzzy lines blurring my vision and then finally reached outside--my bus was late, so I had to wait and laid on the concrete face down. It wasn't until after I talked to a friend's mom that I discovered I had fainted from the pain. 0_o

I've read a lot of different advice columns which say that certain foods you ingest cause cramps or can aleve them. Some say to avoid dairy, others say to avoid caffefine and wheat. Almost everyone says to be extra hydrated (this is always a plus).

I just eat whatever and take pills. Many of my worst days were partially the result of not being on any medication.

General signs of my experiences (side effects) include:
Increased exhaustion
Higher body temperature (especially)
Increased sensitivity
Bloatedness
Dehydration
Irritability (usually because I'm uncomfortable when I feel hot)
Mild Cpld (I almost always catch a cold before I get my period.)

=============================
New question: Ever feel like you're lacking something? Physically, mentally, or spiritually? If not, feel free to share something you're proud of.

you should talk to a dr about how bad they are, s/he might beable to at least help with the sysmptoms are see if you have something like the article on pmdd that i posted earlier.

i cant belive your mom wouldnt let you take the hygine class, wow it still amazes me about how some parents are so squeemish about these things.

as far as remedys that are medical or homeopathic in nature i do not feel comfortable giving that info out because of legality issues,

basicly you should always discuss anything that you may take weather it is presciption or not with a dr. because of reactions that you may have or interactions with other things you may take no matter how minor they may seem (like vitamins)

i have found that heat is a wonderful aide, i use those 8-12 hour heat packs that stick to your clothes, they are wonderful. constant low heat that helps relax your cramps just slightly. i usualy go for whats ever most cost effective as they are all pretty much the same thing no matter who makes them. of course be careful with them as people are sensitive to heat, and the chemicals in them that my cause burns or rashes.

edit im bummed i tried to answer your last question and typed out this long answer and hit the wrong botton :-((

Hmm, I don't think I lack something. Well sometimes I do feel bad about having to wear glasses but then again I was the one who spoilt my eyes by staring close to the TV. I used to have this dorky feeling when I was really young because of my glasses but now I'm totally cool with it.

I'm not proud of myself but at the same time I feel I don't lack anything. I'm pretty happy with the way I am :redbiggri

yayyyy periods are SO fun =P
Hm, I got mine summer before 8th grade I think. Well, it was 1-2 days before my big vacation cruise to Mexico, so that really sucks =P Um, I already knew about periods and all that so I didn't really freak out. I did first think you had to flush pads down the toilet, though =) My sister helped me out with that problem.

As for cramps.. I don't really get them, yay! And if I do, they're never really that painful, so I just ignore them ;3

My mom tells me to avoid taking pills because they might indirectly affect me more later.

wow! a girly thread! finally women will rule cb! :p okie maybe not but it was worth a shot :3

as for the first question, i was one of those early bloomers. had a growth spurt and hit my maximum height by the time i was 10 and had my first period when i was 9 (in between 4th and 5th grade so grades don't count i guess). it started at summer school, and from there i can't really remember clearly. i remember freaking out and running to the nurse's office and having them call my mom to reassure me that i wasn't dying. unfortunately for girls that young in hawaii, you don't get sex ed until you're in 5th grade. so i got my period before i had sex ed and even knew what periods meant. :lol

and don't take the shot! the pill isn't too bad beside the weight gain, but the shot usually messes up your hormone levels and your entire system for a long time after you stop. i had only two shots and stopped taking it early this year. i tried the patch once, but it made me sick so i stopped that right away and haven't been on anything since. maybe it was the shot and patch combined, but now my periods are super irregular (some months i have two light ones, some months two regular ones, sometimes none at all and then the next month i get a super heavy period where i leak out of a super tampon and have to change tampons every 2 hours) my cramps are more massive then what i had before i had the shot or used the patch and i suffer especially when i'm at work and have to walk around for 8 hours. plus the hair on my upper lip is a little bit thicker now and makes me self conscieous (oh god i had that word i can never spell it right). if anything, take the pill. it has a lot of beneficial things except for the weight gain. but i'm sure if you worked out regularly and didn't eat too much salty foods you wouldn't gain too much. i'm lazy and i like fast food so it was like *BAM* 15 pounds in two years... :lol

for the second question, i feel lacking in the height department. i'm only 5 feet tall. i went from being the second tallest out of my friends coming out of elementary school to being the shortest when we went up to high school. my dream height is 5'2" i just want to grow 2 more inches! that's all! but on the plus side, it's easy to find guys taller then me :3 oh, and boobies. i'd like to grow a cup size to a b cup if that's possible at my age with out having a baby. but that's impossible so oh well. but other then that, i only worry about the excess body hair my okinawan side bequeathed to me in the gene pool :lol but that's minor.

*edit* wow, i took so long writing a novel three new posts came up :lol

i think that parents say that tv is what caused their kids eyes to go bad, maybe alittle but not really. i have to wear glasses i dont. i have decent vision but its cause of my dyslexia that i have to wear them. i had alot of issues growing up cause of my learning disablility (that i didnt know about till i was in 9th grade thanks to my dad getting called in to a random testing survey done by the military, he begged them to let me participate because of the issues i had and no one seemed to know why even though i had been tested several times. they let me take the test and they said that they were going to open it up the testing to family because of the results. not only did i have dyslexia, but the type passed from father to son, and even though the tests were taken 2 weeks a part and i had no idea what i was doing the results were identical letter for letter as if i had copied my dads test.)

the irlen insitute came to my school to do some tests and i was invited, i was a good cantidate and i used colored plastics over my school work to beable to read it right, then when i was in 12 grade i was in an accident and was able to afford the real testing for the colored lenses. they are rose colored (my parents joked that i looked through the world with rose colored glasses and lived on the primrose path (as that was the street we lived ons name) you guys might be to young to know what that means but basicly it means that i was in a fantasy world.

my issues were great let me tell you, i had seen a psychiatrist since i was 16 or so, that in addition to my other trauma issues (long story guys) i also had issues with my body as a whole since it was so overly developed and at a young age. i was ashamed of my body and people made fun of me for it, their was only one girl who had breasts bigger than mine, (ok they were about the same size) and we were both made fun of at a constant rate. i was told i was stupid and ugly for years and it took me years to get over it. i still have little relapses now and then.

i was horrified to go to my 10 year reunion because i had gained 80lbs since graduation, people kept asking me if i was pregnant or if i had a baby recently, one of my clients (who ran off and returned) asked me if i had a boy or a girl since i had lost so much weight between the times he had saw me. mt reply i just got fat deal with it. i am now down to 135 i hope to get to 125 but not the 102 that i was before that was way too thin.

i could go on and on with the issues i had, relation ship wise, mentaly, phyiscaly ect but i wont bore you.

spiritually i knew i wasnt christian, i never conformed to their ideals, and i knew that i wasnt a bad person so how could i go to hell for anything i have done. a few years ago i realized that i was a witch. a natural witch, healer, empath, and telepath, and other interesting things. i have always walked a pagan path in reguards to what i felt was spirtual in nature. it was normal for me to love the moon and the stars and the earth as it was a part of me. that all things are sacred no matter what they are, that all things were alive at least at one point and that the cycle of life was much greater than what people tend to belive. my parents even though (my mom at least) claims to be christian have always taught me to belive things in a pagan way, i was never forced to go to church or anything like that only if i wanted too. i wandered for years till i found the right path for me. my ideals of human nature, sex, right and wrong ect have always been alot different and for that i was called several different things. but now im home, i am pagan and proud.

you really dont want to be bigger than what you are, i never had a boob job, i thought about getting a reduction. but i want to wait till i have kids. if i ever get to have them that is. either way they are a hassel if they are bigger than i would say a c cup. i went from nothing to a DD almost over night. it was a real bummer. but, i did get to be a model for a while cause of it. i did it in college for free for the photo department. i did all kinds of modeling, even nudes.

wow! considering that i've watched random episodes when i'm done playing FFXII for the night and still don't want to go to sleep :lol

i've thought of getting implants, then i think about the pain during recovery, having to buy all new bras that would run in the hundreds of dollars considering that i like VS bras and they don't come cheap, wondering if the surgeon did a good job or if i'd turn out like tara reid and i'm like, nah. i guess i'll just live wit my 36A size and be happy. now if i could just lose 30-40 pounds by late november that'd be nice :3 i can't believe i gained that much weight in 4 years. then again i've stopped exercising a lot and yah. i'm not surprised now that i think about it. i think i need more nicotine... i'm getting random.

boob jobs are not worth it. and vs bras stop at DD and i hear they are gonna stop selling them and stop at D.

freddies is much better. in quality and style. yah it would get expensive.

you should love your body no matter the shape or what others think about it. eight goals should be healthy and not done by a body image motivation. living healthy is a good way to live. yoga is wonderful for the body and mind as well.

its ok you dont need to see them lol. not that big of a deal.

Sakura
01-04-2007, 09:54 AM
for some reason, i don't really like the styles at freddies. i have a baby doll from them, but that's the only thing i've gotten. then again i hardly ever go to the part of that mall that they're in so that could be why. i can go to VS.com anytime since they don't have a store in hawaii and that's the only way to get stuff from them. but when a place has a store around that i don't frequent the area i'm too lazy to even think to go to their website :lol

i'm pretty okie wit my body, but i'm getting married in december so i kinda want to lose the double chin i have. that's the only thing i worry about in pix. i don't even think about the jelly around my middle, i zoom in on the extra fold under my face :lol i'm so weird.

Okie. I have a habit of changing shampoos when I get bored with them. My mom says it's bad to change shampoos a lot because it damages your hair. Is this true?

Well my hair's fine. I haven't faced any hair problems, maybe except for dandruff and a bit of hair fall, that's it.

Sakura
01-04-2007, 10:00 AM
if it's bad to change shampoos often then i'm in trouble too. i just switched to pantene time renewal in hopes to get my hair to not be frizzy. then again the frizz is cuz i dyed my hair black (it came out witch black and my coworkers made fun of me cuz i did it in mid october) to get rid of the coloring i had done the year before and that still hadn't grown out. the hair stylist told me that dying it a darker color isn't good for some reason that i can't remember :lol

My mom says it's bad to change shampoos a lot because it damages your hair. Is this true?

Is it? my mom always ask me to change shampoo... she says change till you found one that suits your hair... but i can't find it... my hair is curly and harsh... and i dont like it...

Evanesque

I wish I had curly hair. I have dead straight, annoying silky hair. I hate it...

What shampoo are you currently using? I use Herbal Essences Fruit Fusions (the purple one)

bbnflpn
01-04-2007, 10:13 AM
i dont think that changing shampoos is that bad, however washing your hair ever day can be bad for your hair. your hair wants the oils to stay healthy. so every other day or every 2 days is good. unless you have a problem and you dr says you have to wash your hair every day (ie bad dandruff)

good quality shampoos are wonderful. i love redken when i can afford it, i have really badly curly hair too. thats pretty frizzy at times. so i use alot of high quality conditioners,

burts bees is wonderful stuff too, the avocado hair butter is great, however it does get your hair oiler faster between washings.

when i dye my hair, i saturate my hair with the conditoner and leave it on for about 15 mins or so. pretty much i dye my hair rinse it out and put i the conditoner, and then i take a bath and wash it out at the end.

Yes,It was in aparty at my home thankfully ,I was only 10 years old.But the thing is I don't suffer alot of pain except mild pain a week or so before it arrives and then the first and second day.Thats all.
Next Q:
Um,Not really except that somehow I am getting shorter instead of taller o.o
I am 168 cm and I weigh 52 kg.
@Evanesque:
I guess its better if you ask a hair expert on the kind of shampoo, thats is most suitable to your hair and the way you upply it. It depends on your own hair type or w/e =p

I used to change shampoos cuz first... I used what my mom use xD which was pantene, palmolive.... whatever xD then I used herbal essence, the purple. Oh man. So much to catch up on. :P

1st question:

I got mine in 5th grade. I was 10. Umm... It looked really dark and stuff so I always thought I crapped in my pants. It wasn't until I was in the bathroom with my mom that she noticed something and was like "zomg you got your period!" and I'm like "okay, mom, whatever you say!". Then she gave me the sex talk and told me that if I sex up boys I can get pregnant and all that stuff and I'm like "...okay, mom" (lol, still a virgin too)

But yeah... I get cramps a lot. I sometimes get moody, and I get bloated. But cramps are mainly my worst symptom. One time I had to take a week off of school cuz the cramps were so bad.

Question 2:

I'm 5'7" and I weigh between 120-125 lbs (it flunctuates). I'm a 32-34 A. Yeah... I'm kinda tiny. High metabolism ftw.

Question 3:

I'm currently using Redken Color Extend stuff. I use different shampoos and conditioners all the time. xD

so.. Why bother using Spoilers??

bbnflpn
01-05-2007, 09:16 AM
well, because people will click on them if they want too. the information is there for every one to see. i spoilerized some of mine because it might be deemed inapproprait for younger people. i however do not feel that way,

the way i think of it is this, if you are old enough to ask the question you are old enough to get a truthful answer. if your parents see you looking at something they might find inappriate then they can click the little botton to cover it up just in case.

some girls are still alittle embarassed to talk about this stuff so they will put it in spoiler so that they feel alittle safer posting it.

we know its gonna get read, by alot of people, also we posted 3 pages on this in one night alone between a few people so there is quite a few views right there (if its not going by single view by ip address)

Sakura

basically, bb said it. some just feel spoilers are safer. for those of us who don't care if guys get grossed out then yah. we just post.

okie, new question! um, first i have to think of it... girly secrets, girly secrets... oh i know!

what do you think of thongs and g-strings?

personally, i wear them. every day. i got into it my senior year of high school and never looked back at regular panties. although some people might not like the way it rides up your butt at times, i feel that it's not as bulky as regular bikinis or grandma undies and doesn't leave as many visible lines when i wear tight pants. my grand aunties and grandma tried to "cure" me of it by taking me underwear shopping but after i left their house i just shoved the new stuff in the back of my drawer and continued to wear my normal thongs.

plus i noticed that most guys like it when girls wear thongs. all the bfs i had since i started wearing them actually appreciated me wearing them and thought it was sexy, yada yada. this isn't saying that you have to. i'm pretty sure if a guy really liked you then he'd be happy even if you wore his boxers :lol

i dont mind them, i dont wear them when im on my period since i have to wear a pad and a tampon because the flow is so heavy.

i hate vpls (visible panty lines)

i also hate it when they peek up under low rise jeans, so if i have to wear bikini's (i hate granny pants) i will roll them down so they dont show. i have worn low rise since before they were in the style. every one thought i was lame, then when they were stylish they said i was trying to be in all of a sudden i told them um dont you remember this same conversation a few years back only oppisite i been wearing these for years.

fashion makes me mad.

thanks for posting this thread.
I know I'm a guy, but I gained some more respect for the girls from my class (last year there were 2 guys, some other dude and me, and 19 girls. now it's four to 20...). Sometimes when I made a stupid joke or just said something they weren't fully happy with, they used to (nearly) scream to me to STFU. Because of their periods. But I never expected those things to be that bad :p

I won't get grossed out by this stuff. It's completely natural and actually I think guys should read this stuff just to understand girls more.
*hopes he doesn't freak out some girls by saying this*

Btw,
maybe I'm weird but I don't think thongs are sexy. I prefer those tight girly boxers... (I don't know their names...)
I also can't understand how you girls manage to wear thongs... I completely freak out when my boxer slips up only the slightest bit...

welcome to the thread,

no your not werid for thinking that, preferences are just that, what ever turns you on, one thing may do it for someone and it wont do it for another.

as for the girls in your class, it is also natural for women to syncronize their cycles, so you were probably getting a total pms attack from all of them. the guys i hang out with get it from all us women at the same time, they dread that time of the month when we have our meetups.

DFlux

I would like to join your world of girly secrets because (yay!) sharing is fun ^^

Question 1: Got it age 12, everything normal, though I never talked about it with either parent, because I hate talking to them about things like this (especially my mother O.O). Then... didn't get it for a year. Then got it. Then didn't get it for 2. Eventually found out I've got cysts like mad so I'm on Tricyclen now, totally helps with accuracy.

Before BC, I would get super nauseous for 2 weeks beforehand, like... everything gave me motion sickness: cars, swings, I'd get mad dizzy. Doesn't really happen anymore. Actually, nothing much happens. I've stopped popping Ibuprofen, at last :redbiggri

Question 2: I'm 5' .5" on a good day (5' regularly), about 130Lbs (125Lbs when I'm not at my mum's XD), 38B. My sister called me a fat cow a few weeks ago but then I reminded her that no one takes shapeless stick figures home to mum. :biggrinki That shut her up. But my height is a pain since both my roomie and I are short and getting things from the cupboards... it's just not on!

Question 3: Well, for a while now I've been using L'Oreal Kids shampoo with green Sunsilk conditioner and so far it's been working great. L'Oreal helps my hair stay soft (super brittle cuticles), but it also does a good job getting out built up grease and whatnot, which I found other children's shampoos just CANNOT do! Also, I wash every two days. Somehow, I've found climate also helps (being around the cold sea has done wonders for my hair).

Question 4: Meh.. I could do without thongs. I never wear anything tight/lowrise anyway, so they're just an unnecessary discomfort for me. I only ever wore them in Europe because the summers made regular undies too clingy with sweat XD

Question 5: I usually use pads but Playtex Gentle Gluide ftw when it comes to tampons. I don't move around a lot physically so I don't care so much (could it be the uni. kid syndrome? Nah ;)).

It's great that people aren't afraid to post this stuff =D The world needs to know!

Lucki
01-06-2007, 12:36 PM
i wear thongs sometimes but i find them a bit uncomfy :x...i use to always wear just granny undies but after i wore some tight pretty ones, like kinda like boxerish shape at the front but gets thinner at the back to like a thongish shape at the back but not at all as thin! i dont know the name o.o, do you get what i mean?!?...then i found granny pants uncomfy and baggy, so i always wear tighter panties now. i know my mate wears thongish type ones too but you can get diamond bits on the back so when you bend down you have glittery diamonds^^....mkay i am porbably starting to babble now :x...so yea...this may sound really weird...nvm..anyway yah thats my general thought on thongs and g-strings

warp:routine
01-06-2007, 12:51 PM
I want to give a guy's opinion on thongs, g-strings, and the like....

Most people think that basically we (guys) just want to see more skin, period. This is not true, we are not that shallow.... well... uhm... were a different kind of shallow. :D

If you have ass dimples (im not talkin about the cute kind) or cellulose or are slightly overweight (thats not a problem btw, im just saying...) then revealing roos are not for you. You man will say you look hot and things of this nature, however inside he will be dying.

The best thing you can do is get some sexy lacy roos, with lots of lace and really nice soft fabric like silk... that will drive your guy crazy!

Ok, if anyone thinks im wrong you have permission to ~gently~ flame me.

tampons are not that uncomfortable, they are if inserted improperly. and if you cough a bit they might come out.

i do not feel like im stuck in permanent sex mode, tampons are alot thinner than the normal penis they are only there to catch the blood.

its been proven recently that the risk of TSS (toxic shock syndrome) is actually less than they previously thought, and you can wear a tampon up to 8 hours at a time. for women who prefer them only that is great news since they can were them to sleep in.

that shouldnt scare you,

they have the string for a reason, and you should never stick 2 in ever. she may have forgotten and did it. i have had it that the string is hard to find since it got stuck between my legs, but i find it and pull it out every time.

those ob tampons you have to stick up there with your finger, they are enviroment friendly partly because they do not have an applicator. it becomes a mess, i have a few of them laying around they are nice because they are smaller you can have one stashed somewhere incase you need it. like the smallest pocket of your purse.

i usually have a little makup type bag that i keep in my car, cause i usualy have my car with me if i need one i can go out there and get one. right now i have one in my car and one in my locker at work. i also keep extra deoderant and headache meds in there.

btw, if you keep deoderant in your car, becareful it likes to melt and become usless when you really need it.

hrrrm... topic's tampons now.

i use tampons, preferably tampax pearls. i hated pads when i was wearing them. it felt like i had a wet pillow between my legs. even the ultra thin ones made me want to just rip them off. sometimes i have to use a liner cuz my body recently went bonkers and majorly bled but that's only if i have a light flow or i leak out of the tampon. did you know that stayfree makes thong liners with wings? :3 i was so happy when they came out wit that.

hmmmm... as for the guys liking lacy soft panites, i guess guys in hawaii are a little different. or maybe it's the guys i went out with :lol they were all "butt" guys so yah. i have a big bootie :p

At the first, I had no problems with cramps, PMS, or any of that. And then sometime after 9th grade, I started getting them more FULL BLAST. The first time I got a cramp, I sort of passed out in my bathroom (whilst in the shower). I thought I was dying. ;_;

Mild Cpld (I almost always catch a cold before I get my period.)

you dont need to be flxible to use them

heres a trick, i have had problems inserting them, so my dr gave me some lube. i was sort of ashamed at the time to have it, like i was going to use it for sex (which i did and still do btw)

the lube is wonderful for alot of things, especialy inserting tampons and having sex. although i did have a rather embarrasing conversation with my grandma, she said she was having trouble with using lotion (a big no no by the way not for internal use) for putting in her supository medicines.

i told her that she was not to ever use lotion for this, and gave her my left over lube (which i never physicaly put on my self only on toilet paper or the tampon it self) and went and got my self some nice ky silkE lube which i kept with me all the time (for random sexual encounters with my boyfriends) and a smaller one that i kept in my room for tampons.

I only recently started using tampons... For some reason, I feel so awkward and stupid with them. Coz it says on the box that if you put it in properly, you shouldn't be able to notice that it's there. So I go into this mini panic about "am I noticing it b/c it's not in properly or am i just noticing it coz i KNOW it's in there". =____=;;

Quick question: Is it meant to be uncomfortable to remove? Coz it feels kinda unpleasant when I remove it.

well guys, its only natural to wonder what we go through. keep reading, and get to know your feminine side a bit, and then you will more understand us as a whole.

as for removal, i have issuse with it, it does get uncomfortable, like a suction cup being removed, and even more so if the end of it gets wet. like if you went swimming or what ever. you will get use to it, just dont yank it out, remove it slowly and steadily so that you wont have as much discomfort, that way the muscles will help expel it as well.

also using kegal exercizes helps as well, its when you tighten the wall of your vagina, it helps with vaginal tightness as well as control for things like tampons and inserting medications (like for yeast infections)

DFlux
01-22-2007, 07:52 AM
It can also be uncomfortable if you're taking it out too early and it's not fully saturated. If it's hard to take out, leave it in a little longer (but not longer than 8 hours).

Does anyone know if there's any health risk to taking them out early, since they can be abrasive?

bbnflpn
01-22-2007, 08:04 AM
i dont think so. i have never heard anything to that effect. i guess if you are that worried about it you can always put in some lube when you take it out some how.

i think it just feels uncomfortable, i dont think that it is damaging if its not saturated, after all mostly its cotton and other natural fibers.

bbnflpn
01-22-2007, 09:03 PM
pads are not dangerous at all, i have heard nothing about that. what do you mean by shape.

one things pads can be is dangerous to your clothes, or might cause embarrasing problems take this pic i found a while back at a bad cosplay site

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d135/bbnflpn/halloween%202006/july05-04.jpg

you want a pad with good sticky and, if you are flowing pretty hard or at night one with some decent size wings so you dont get blood all over you clothes

Nesquik
01-22-2007, 09:15 PM
a friend told me that one kind was dangerous..i wont believe her ^^
What did i mean by shape: i dont understand it too, just listened

DFlux
01-22-2007, 09:26 PM
Well, as far as danger from pads, the biggest risk is irritation and odour from the lack of airflow to the skin and the bleaching in disposables. Unlike tampons, they haven't been known to cause TSS or any of that.

DFlux
01-22-2007, 09:41 PM
Eh, I wouldn't say there's anything to be particularly frightened of... but that "fit so you can't feel them" slogan does NOT apply to every person. I know some people (like myself) who can't wear them because they're always horribly aware of their presence. It's just annoying. I don't know if it's psychological or physiological, but there comes a time when they just get frustrated and stop using them.

I myself didn't try them for years because my mum disapproves of them, thinks they're horribly unhealthy, etc.

My advice is to give them a few tries, they're not particularly dangerous, but they can be uncomfortable (probably not painful). If that's the case, stop using them, there's no law saying you have to and they're not for everyone :)

Edit: As i look at the older post...
@first period: I got it when i was shopping. Was out with my family but at that time i was wandering with my elder bro. Than i told my bro, and he went to find my mom, than she went to the pharmacy to buy the pads.

@Lack: I think i lack a bit of chest area but i dun wan implants >_>;. I am 165cm tall 45kg.

i use pads more than tampons. i only really ever used tampons when i used to play sports in high school. i use the always thin with wings, bc i don't like those big bulky ones. plus with pads i feel more secure than i do with tampons.

bbnflpn
01-23-2007, 07:23 AM
for me, some times the pads get irritating, but i have to use them even with tampons because my flow is so heavy. by the time i can only wear a tampon the flow is so light its not reccomended. so pretty much i use the pad as a back up.

when i am home i only use pads, i use tampons while working it helps alot.

i am in the process of trying a new conditioner right now. anti friz by john freida. i loved their other stuff. so i thought i would give it a try. it was on sale heheh. i try most new products when they are on sale or in the bargin bin, or at pic n save.

i dont belive in skimping on a few things, hair products is one of them. ill always buy name brand, and if they are cheaper then all the better. as well as laundery deturgent, and diet coke.

i have always thought that we should get to switch bodies with the oppisite sex for a little while, they will get to go what we go through with our stuff, and we will get to see what they go through with thier stuff. i think it would also be interesting to feel what sex feels like as the oppisite sex.

if we better understood our bodies then there would be a lot less issues with talking about stuff like this.

i found out a few years ago that alot of people in highschool thought i waw a lesbeain. i dont know why i guess a girl who works on cars is. its why i never really got dates in highschool either.

i have alot of lesbian and bi friends. im very ok with it, i really dont care, i was alittle bothered when my clients would hit on me though. considering that i had to watch them pee, and they were just getting out of prison. yah just alittle odd and not to mention a major conflict of interest. i would say right now my friends are about 50/50 in terms of their sexuality. and considering i am pagan its probably alot higher since there are alot of people who are lbgt in the pagan community. interestingly they have never hit on me, although they ask me if i am sure im not bi. i guess because i can see the beauty in a woman as well as a man.

Finding friends especially nice girlfriends is really hard because those girls you think are your best friends might turn out to be someone who's been stabbing you in the back all along.

Female friends tend to be jealous of each other at some point of their friendship and if they have a good relationship everything turns out fine but those who don't even understand the other completely ruin their friendship and it's all over.

Btw, about the les/bi thing, the last forum I was on, I had a bi e-mommy...but it was never weird...we were really good friends...Sometimes when she used to feel bad, I used to cheer her up by saying, 'you've got the best of both worlds' XD

bbnflpn
01-25-2007, 07:38 PM
that, and maybe they are not ready for a relationship just yet.

its hard to like someone when they dont have the same feelings for you. sometimes it may be better to just not say anything and if things were to happen between you let them happen naturally,

Evanesque
01-25-2007, 08:07 PM

I know what you mean. We don't get jealous because we hate the other person, and you're right it's only because of our insecurities.

I get jealous when I feel inferior to another woman as it's naturally clear who's going to get the most attention.

I can control mine sometimes, but other times, it just gets on my nerves and my jealousy takes over...I get pissed with everyone and totally f*** my mood.

yah there are so manythings that they are good for

like pads are good for injurys, that are bloody. they absorb the blood, they are sanitary, and they stick to stuff so if you put it on the wound then not only is the sticky stuff not gonna let it move around (unless its too loose) but it will also keep it from seeping in to your bandages and clothes.

i had a bad split on some sutures, and i didnt have anything in the house, the incision was on my bikini line so we stuck the pad to my underware up on my leg (it was like where when you sit down your leg creeses) it was wonderful, the dr was like wtf, then thought wow thats a good idea.

tampons are good for sucking chest wounds.

I guess, the only problem with pads is that sometimes they tend to feel uncomfy. I don't wear tight clothes so it's kinda okie with me, although I just hate it when it gets all soggy and ugh *shudders* I know I'm going to face that again in a couple of days.

My friends say that tampons are better because they don't get in the way when you want to wear tight clothes. Pads bulge out but tampons don't because they're..in there...

DFlux

I tend to prefer pads because, as stated before, they're SECURE. You know they're there. They can hold a large amount of blood, and some people use the regular absorbency to catch tampon leaks (which begs the question of why use a tampon?).

Tampons can be difficult to use the first couple of times, and also come with the (rather low) risk of TSS. But also...I feel stupid using tampons. XD Dunno why, I just feel mentally awkward.

Personally, I'm quite happy with pads. I do agree with the fact that they are secure. Except for a lil bit of uncomfyness, it's just fine. I don't have to worry about the fact that whether it's still there or it just went up somewhere XD

One of my friends is new to tampons...to be honest I haven't tried them myself. She's very curious to use them because she hates pads. Since she dresses in mostly tight clothes, she says she feels very self conscious wearing a pad. Her mom told her not to use tampons unless her female doctor says it's ok to.

She says even though she is refused she wants to use them. I can't really do anything to stop her because it's her choice. Can anyone list out the benefits/disadvantages to wearing tampons?

From what I know:

Benefits: No odour usually because tampon is inside; right absorbency means few leaks; not bulky; can swim with one in; if it's used correctly, it's supposedly unnoticable (not in my experience, though); can wear thongs/delicate panties

Disadvantages: Risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) which is dangerous and could be fatal; can't/shouldn't be left in for longer than 8 hours; might still leak; might be uncomfortable to insert/wear; if it happens to not be completely saturated when you're removing it -- OWWWWWW; not the greatest idea to sleep with one in; possible for string to ride up/tampon to get stuck by the cervix; some women forget them in there and have really bad infections/discharge

The pros and cons measure up pretty equally in quantity, but I still choose pads over tampons if I can help it, since there is no major health risk with pads at all, you can wear them with your sleep, don't have to touch finicky things first thing in the morning, etc.

One of my friends swears she started feeling nauseous one night and realised she still had her tampon in after 8.5 hours. As soon as she took it out, she felt better immediately. Ditto with my sister and feeling really feverish.

Thanks a lot for listing all that. With all those cautions, it definitely is advisable to use pads rather than tampons. The craze with tampons can be compared to craze for shoes.

I mean there are women who die to fit into their desired shoes to such an extent that they willingly give up comfort and risk suffering from foot infections and bone problems. There have been cases (I've read it somewhere but can't remember) where women have asked to have their toes cut off so they can fit into a pair.

I think it's the same thing with tampons. Pads are a lot safer. Would you want to risk getting TSS, infections, diseases, etc just for wearing your fav type of clothes? If yes, then I'm sorry but I honestly think you're dumb.

It sounds rather funny talk about this here when im sure there are some guys who actually look in this thread. I would have to say that pads are the way to go for me. They feel comfy and secure for me. I have a pretty heavy flow but there are some pads which are the thinnest ever but they hold for me which is good. Too bad i cant buy them here *sigh* I can only find them in aus.

yup pads for me...but they must be those super ultra thins...i dun understand why the school nurses on stock up on dino-pads...

but tampons for water sports definitely...dun wanna "dye" the pool or the sea..

something gives me the feeling that the size of pads vs. price is a 'less is more' situation. The smalller pads cost more, the bigger pads are a dime a dozen...

also dont school nurses love to be mean? I mean, 'sure, well just put an ice pack on that compound fracture' or 'no, those gallons of snot arent from a cold, your exagerating'. lol... for this it would be 'here, nobody will notice you just stuffed a diaper down your pants'.

Cuz to prevent us from getting free pads? and thick ones are cheaper XD

@theli

you want to gain weight mostly in muscle rather than fat, but the easiest way to do that when your not eating a lot is to have a lot of stuff with fat, like milkshakes and mac and cheese, and then do strength training. Nots excercise that will burn calories but ones that will turn fat into muscle...

also start drinking whole milk and eating more fish... that will help you gain some weight... just remember that you will put on another 2-3 lbs. when you stop eating like this so stop this diet when your a couple pounds away from your goal weight.

I hope this helps, if you have any other quesitons just ask me XD

(i have friends who are in physcial therapy and training, this is what they said)

Theli, all I can recommend to gain weight (especially muscle) is protein and more calories. Rice is soft, easy to store, and it's chock full of starches and calories, so it'll fill you at work.

I would also recommend more fatty foods. But make sure you don't load up on high cholesterol, or your heart is in trouble.

first, my apologies to post here even, but since this is a "not only girly problem"
i felt obligated to write something with the intention to help.

yea i meant like ....how? >_>;

Theli, all I can recommend to gain weight (especially muscle) is protein

check what you eat, go for rice, pasta, chicken and fish. proteins are also
to be found in the white stuff of the egg (just remove the yellow stuff, its
not healthy anyway). there are also protein shakes and various other
products that can be mixed with water, fruit juices, etc.. those are especially
designed for excercises to gain more muscle mass. but be careful with those
because if you aren't doing anything you'll gain weight on the wrong places
(from my experience, i gained like ~14 lbs in the first week but due to training it went down again, so i made roughly 8 lbs in one cycle)

basicly the way you gain weight with muscle training is simple, you tear
the muscles apart (kinda) with training, then the links grow stronger and
thicker. thats how a muscle grows. (anyway too far off topic)

i recommend to go see a doc or a specialist on the area of food, so he can
create a menu plan to get you on the level you want.

but hands away from fast food. it's fast gained weight which you can't get
rid off the way you gained it. plus it's crap anyways (but thats my personal
opinion on fast food) and you'll gain weight in the wrong areas.

Actually, I wouldn't recommend doing that. Turns out the cholesterol in egg yolks helps lower bad cholesterol. It was once thought to be unhealthy, but it turns out the cholesterol either doesn't affect levels at all, or actually helps reduce it. The yolk holds all the DNA and nutrients needed for life, at any rate, so it's full of omega and iron and whatnot. Just don't overdo it (too many eggs, specially fried = not good).

Maybe try a protein shake, as others have recommended. Of course, lots of sleep also helps to not only build up your body but regulate your general weight as well, so you're not floating in fat.

Thelindra

lol, okie i eat more egg as soon as i get well. those soft boiled ones that goes with bread..wait or is that hard-boiled? X_x

soka, fruits and fish... no chicken for me though, my mouth will hurt if i try to bite it off =/

And yea i agree on the sleep part...lack of sleep is the main reason i fell sick

deto

Just don't overdo it

that goes hand in hand with like everything. i wouldn't recommend
eating eggs on daily basis, hell no. but if you take them once in a while
you might aswell leave the yellow stuff. but focus on stuff like rice,
pasta and chicken and don't use fatty sauces and stuff. i know it might
get boring in terms of variety but well, you can still use different
combinations.

protein shakes are rather an addition than a replacement. there again
don't overdo it. in case of doubt ask a doc or personel how/when to
use it.

edit: cut the chicken (or chicken breast) into tiny pieces.
should work that way.
an egg in a week is ok, do not eat them on daily basis.

you can make your own, just buy powder and mix with half water half whole mily, they say just water but with milk it tastes better...

and STAY AWAY from whey protien because if you dont work out strenuously every day it will turn straight into dense fat that is hard to lose...

yep. if you aren't doing excercises it's not worth using it, it will have
a negative effect. there is a wide variety of products. you should be
able to get them in big sport stores tho be careful there since personel
tends to knows jack about it.

also you might want to go to the dr and see if you have a thyroid problem. i had a similar problem when i was young. i couldnt gain weight to save my life, at the drs orders. i tried eating like 2 big macs and 2 large fries in a sitting (lunch and dinner) plus a box of ho hos, and 4 candy bars, i actually lost weight. i went from 108 to 102. eventually the drs gave up, and let me have the surgery under weight (since they were running out of time) i come to find out now that i have a hyper active thyriod. (the condition i have is graves disease) of course that doesnt help me now since i have gained alot of weight due to medications, and i have been having a hard time getting rid of it.

one of the ways i gained a bunch of weight (unwanted) was i went on the depp provera shot which is a birth control. basicly you get this shot and you dont have your period. it fools your body in to thinking your pregnant and you have to take it every 3 months. i gained quite a bit on that. i did love not having my period
