hi minna,

I've recently experienced the same problem twice... the thing is that I get infected by a trojan virus called scvhost.exe (don't misunderstand with svchost.exe which's a windows essential archive). It makes my computer to initiate slower and it is kinda annoying...

I've been reading some literature about it and it seems that I should experience more problems. The thing is that I don't have more problems but the one I mentioned before.

Have any of you suffered from the same trojan? Do you know what can I do?

Edit: I've already used an antivirus, antispam, antieverything...

Thanks in advance :)

Uuum, I don't think I've ever had that one. If you're catching the trojan often, then you need to find out how it's getting in. They often get in through dodgy software. It's useful to scan things for spyware and virus as you download them. Firewalls can also help.

It may be the kind of virus you can't get rid of without a special cleaning utility. Check if AVG's vcleaner. exe covers it. I once had a crappy virus that attached itself to just about all of my exe files. They all landed up being removed by vcleaner, too, which was painful but necessary.

Oh, maybe you're not experiencing the problems mentioned because it's the kind that releases itself in stages or has different versions.

Which anti-virus anti-spam anti-everythings have you used? Some, like Norton, are just a joke. Spyware is also a hard one because some programs don't find certain things. I use 3 different anti-spyware programs, actually.

Well, find this other "scvhost.exe" file you have on your computer and try to delete it. Make sure you end the process if its running in your task manager though. I've never heard about this virus before and all I know that scvhost.exe is some important Windows file.

Thanks, I'll try ^^

Edit: It didn't work... It's okay. I'll try to save all my important documents and I'll wait to see what happens. If the thing get worse, I'll call a technician.

Thanks a lot ;)

If its keeping coming back after you've deleted it its probably keeping a copy of itself in memory so when you delete it it rewrites itself.
Wat you need to do is just run that good 'ol windows machine in safe mode and scan your whole computer and get rid of it.
If you find yourself getting trojans, viruses and the like quite a bit or just as good measure, you should probably do this every once and awhile, i normally defrag and scan for the rare malware(normally just tracking cookies) while im at it, though i havn't ran in safe mode for awhile because theres been no need.
Catch and delete
