Hello ppl. I have this problem with my comp. See, everytime I d/l a BT, it always seem to restart itself i have no idea why. someone else said that i have a virus, and told me to reformat it. But only a few times when i d/l a BT, it was not like that. So if anybody here have another besides reformating to help my pc that would be great.

you mean it automatically restarts itself??? Or does it just...well, freeze, cause that's what mine often does when I don't wait around 10 mins after download succeeded.

It's like this. I d/l a BT, then it starts d/ling. After a while, it all of a sudden just restarts itself. Then I have to start d/ling the BT from where it stopped. It is very irritaing. It happens a few times.

You could have a virus or spyware.... www.lavasoft.com if you dont already have it get adaware SE and scan. Thats about all i can say seeing as i dont have much info. on your computer ect... A ton of problems would just be fixed if people turned off their computers the right way (not saying that you don't) and scanned for spyware at least once a week.

hmm.......maybe you should try getting some adware or virus scanning programs.

I use BitTornado with no problems. and to make things clear, what restarted: Your Computer Or Your BT (Which I doubt, why would the program "restarts" itself?)

yep you got a virus or spyware.
Get anti-virus a good firewall,
anti-spyware and anti-adware.
Btw do you got win xp sp2?

Okay, Then my guess would be that the BT Program (BitTornado) uses too much process/ram for your computer to handle. I recommend lowering the minimum amount of peers connected to help your computer not die out.

I doubt it's a virus.
It would be completely imbecilic and totally not writerchallenging to make a virus for BT....
If it were to be a virus that makes your internet connection go haywire it might just be a side-effect but then you wouldn't be able to download anything at all or just post on this forum anyway... Programs like MSN would have the same problem then too.
But with MSN this is a common thing. I'm not sure what causes it but it could be a security option.
More likely: Do you have SP2 installed, any virus or ad/spyware shields. A firewall perhaps. It is common these things can interfere with download processes.
It could be your internet connection. But there's no sure telling unless you try downloading through Direct download.
Spyware/adware doesn't have effects such as these. But you must notice that BT can be seen as an illegal process by security measures against spy/adware. Most likely it's just your own security biting back at ya.
(advice: try making BT an exeption, like MSN usually automatically is...
If it is a virus (unlikely) then all you can do is scan for it. If you lack the virusscanner for it then I suggest you try to find it manually (takes about 7-10 weeks for normal people as you have to ask constantly, is this a virus, at an expert) Formatting is the last option! Never format unless you truly see it as needed in order to remove the virus, if it's a security option then formatting won't help. You'll just be screwed even more.
What is also a plausible option: Try an other way. I myself don't trust BT at all. (rather easy way for hackers as it works with P2P.) So I use things like the normal internet way... Direct downloading. Or the more fun and less buggy: FTP-servers
An FTP program isn't expensive and someone who is an adept at searching via google doesn't have a hard time finding servers. Most are free anyway and give users a downloading account. You must realise though that it requires a bit of studying at all the options. When a server requires users to ask recon every 60 seconds. Set recon to 60 seconds and no more or less. Else you'll just get banned.)
Okay enough advertising.
I doubt it's a virus. But your information on the subject isn't really complete anyway. Like: when did the problem first occur. Did you do any specific changes to the system between the problem boot and the previous one.
Did you visit any sites which can cause problems that you know of or are very likely.
Those kind of things... You know.
It really would help clearing this up...

The first time was a few weeks after I reformated my computer. I don't think i made any changes to the system. I don't think i have visited any sites that can cause problems. Well, sometimes it's hard to find DDL of some series. so i have to use BT.
