Whowill win? Ohio State Buckeyes or the Florida Gators?
Now Im picking Florida for the upset by TD.
28-21
I say this because Michigan was destroyed by USC and Michigan almost beat Ohio at Ohio.
2nd Thier win over Texas wasnt much. Texas feel way back in the rankings at the end. Which means Ohio's wins were overrated. Florida beat LSU who killed Notre dame, beat Alabama, beat Georgia, Florida State at FSU, Tennessee, Arkansas.

Buckeyes FTW, only because i'm a buckeyes fan. Jim Tressel is a 3-0 in the desert and Troy Smith is good in big games.

You can't be all logical in college football. GA lost to Vanderbilt but beat number 5 Auburn. :P
I say Ohio State wins 41-14, because Florida is really over rated. I mean they were lucky not to mess up their season vs. South Caroline at home.

SLVR

they got through the SEC with 1 loss. Thier are no Easy saturdays in the SEC
and Georgia just beat the best team in the ACC Virgina Tech

whoa now, Florida has a good defense it's not going to be a blowout, plus they got some tricks up their sleeves, however they're still a rather young team and leak is prone to make some boneheaded mistakes. also killing notre dame isn't an accomplishment anymore

M_A
01-05-2007, 04:52 AM
Yeah, but their defense isn't good enough to stop OS. Michigan's defense is better and they gave up 41 points. Aand Florida is not that good offensively, so they won't be able to outscore Ohio State.

SLVR
01-05-2007, 05:26 AM
Look at the diffrence in schedule. Besides I judging by what ou guys have said and forgot, you guys fail to mention in their system they use 2 quarter backs. Have you seen ware Florida's defense stands? OSU has not seen the speed of FU's caliber of defense. Michigan is over rated a proven fact. Texas is full of freshman. I gurentee you if OSU played in the SEC they would not be up thier cause most of the defensive leaders are in the SEC. Less scoring. Look at these stats
Look at the stats and compare the competition

Defensively, Florida is superior, but the offense for OSU is so much better, i would even say Florida's offense is lacking. I can't see OSU scoring less than 30 points, and i can't see Florida outscoring OSU.

Look at ware Florida's conference is...SEC look at the SEC in defense.

Ohio State is taking it big!

Sure, Florida is the SEC champion, but they are lucky to be. Take away one blocked fieldgoal and Florida is 11-2 and not even in the championship.

SLVR

Exactly. Competition is way better in the SEC all the way around

1. Ohio State

9. Auburn
10. Oklahoma
11. Notre Dame
12. Arkansas
13. West Virginia
14. Wake Forest
15. Virginia Tech
16. Rutgers

18. California
19. Texas
20. Brigham Young

Yes, SEC is definetly the best conference, no doubt. I just do not think that the supposive best team in the SEC (i said supposive cause i think LSU is better) is better than Ohio State. Ohio State's conference is weaker than Florida's, but overall, i think Florida isn't as good.

Rorschach
01-06-2007, 02:49 AM
Who cares how good the conference is or isn't (Boise state anyone). you play the game on the field, and this should be a good game (i don't like the comparisons to the 2002 ohio state team because uhh that team was really lucky at times :rolleye09 ).

Jeem
01-06-2007, 03:04 AM
I would have to say that SEC is the better overall conference, but I think Ohio State is the better team (yes....I'm a noles fan too....).

01-06-2007, 04:22 AM
I am a die-hard Georgia fan, but that is not the reason i think Florida is worse than OSU> OSU dominated most of the games, with the only close one being Michigan. Florida barely beat Georgia, S. Cal, Vanderbilt, and probably some others i am forgetting.

SLVR
01-06-2007, 04:30 AM
Boise has been good foor the last couple years. Florida did bet LSU
All SEC opposition is hard. this aint mid america

M_A
01-06-2007, 04:34 AM
Well, the thing about the SEC is that you can't really use logic. Like Auburn beat Florida, so Auburn is better, right? But Auburn gets destroyed by Georgia. And then Georgia lost to Kentucky. Whoever managed to get out with 1 loss is just lucky, imo.

SLVR
01-06-2007, 04:40 AM
But Auburn aint in the BCS and I believe. and they have more than 1 loss

M_A
01-06-2007, 04:45 AM
Yeah, i wasn't trying to sya that they are better, i was just pointing out how everyone in the SEC beat each other and that normal logic doesn't apply. Florida is just fortunate to manage to have one loss. A lot of their victories were unimpressive though, like the ones i listed in the revious post.

Rorschach

your forgetting the Illinois game, OSU only won 17-10, they pretty much stunk it up in the second half. just because they game is close doesn't mean your bad, it means you excel under pressure and are clutch (learned that in '02 and '03... thank you Craig Krenzel *reminisces about holy buckeye* )

M_A
01-06-2007, 04:49 AM
Sucking and almost losing to an obviosly inferior team isn't performing well under pressure. But Florida had more of those type of games than OSU.

SLVR
01-06-2007, 04:55 AM
ok as a Miami student and fan 02 went yer way cause of a call. :p
Ill tell you what this means. OSU was #1 from seasons rankings right? well who did they beat last year in a bowl to earn the seasons ranking? Yeah thats right... Norte Dame, Very overrated this year and last year

M_A
01-06-2007, 04:58 AM
Well, they are undefeated. I will agree completely with you that they are overrated if they lose to Florida. But I don't expect them to. In fact, can you give me a team right now that you think would definetly beet OSU? I can't think of one. The closest they came up with is Florida, but to me, it looks like a mismatch.

SLVR
01-06-2007, 05:01 AM
I didnt say they were overrated but Notre dame being overrated helped them get the #1 spot. If Texas was #1 it coulda been different.

M_A
01-06-2007, 05:04 AM
They would still make the championship game, even if they didn't start out #1, i would think.

SLVR
01-06-2007, 05:06 AM
I think they would to. But now you have to figure in strength of schedule

M_A
01-06-2007, 05:08 AM
Texas, Michigan, some other ones i forget, they would definetly make it. They are damn good, imo. I just don't thin Florida is the right team to beat OSU. Damn, I would rather put Boise state in there, there are a bit underrated i think.

SLVR
01-06-2007, 05:14 AM
ok but i wasn't talkin bout that. Florida=strongest schedule in the land and if Ohio had 1 loss they would not be in it cause Texas still woulda had 2 losses. It would likely be Louisville cause Michigan lost to OSU assuming Texas beat OSU in the begining. Im trying to make the point that Florida will not be a push over because they play a strong opponent weak in and weak out and with thier record and schedule who would be more deserving.

M_A
01-06-2007, 05:42 AM
Fine, but we'll see what happens when they play each other. Guess we will see who was right then.

We stomped all over Texas.

We stomped all over Michigan.

The score didn't indicate the thrashing they received.

Here's the statistics.

TOTAL FIRST DOWNS 24 17
TOTAL NET YARDS 503 397
Total Plays 70 65
Average Gain 7.2 6.1
NET YARDS RUSHING 187 130
Rushes 29 30
Average per rush 6.4 4.3
NET YARDS PASSING 316 267
Completions-attempted 29-41 21-35
Sacked 1 4
Yards Lost 5 33
TOTAL TURNOVERS 3 0
Interceptions 1 0
Fumbles Lost 2 0
OTHER
Penalties 4 5
Penalty Yards 50 45
Time of Possesion 31:02 28:58
Punts 3 5
Punt Average 38 44.4
Return Yards 0 0

The second numbers are Michigan, the first OSU.

So, WHAT did they have more of?

Penalties, times sacked, punts, punt length, and takeaways (and, for the record, two were botched snaps and the interception bounced off a helmet).

You CANNOT POSSIBLY say that Ohio State doesn't play strong teams.

Michigan - ranked #3 at the end of the year.

Texas - #2 at the start, #19 at the end.

Penn State.

Iowa.

Illinois.

Who did Florida play?

LSU and Auburn.

Strength of schedule my ass - Ohio State played many perennial powers, Florida played TWO.

You think Florida's defense has speed?

Ted Ginn runs a 4.3 40-meter (and a 10.5 100-meter).

Anthony Gonzalez is just as fast.

You want to talk defense?

Ohio State's is the best.

HANDS DOWN.

Who won the Bronco Nagurski award (best defensive player IN THE NATION)?

James Laurinaitis.

Where does he play?

In the middle linebacker position AT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY.

What did he get? Oh, not much, only a hundred tackles, five interceptions, four sacks, and three forced fumbles. HIMSELF.

Who won the heisman?

Troy Smith.

Florida's going to get their asses handed to them on Monday...my prediction is Ohio State 52, Florida 14.

Yeah, 52. Just because I want to see Pretorius kick a field goal. :)

Rorschach
01-06-2007, 07:57 PM
i can't wait till march madness :), buckeyes are killing the Illini right now. what scares me is that previous heisman winner's team has lost, but then troy smith is clutch and big in big games in his career. OSU got some good corners too

Florida does have the strenth of of schedule. Look on the records. Look at the rankings and ware theier oppenents rank Look at ware Texas and Michigan are at now. OSU beast Mich at OSU. I was talkin about who have OSU played with this good of defense I never said they wernt as good.
Michigan was overrated pure fact by the stomp of LSU ware is Texas like 15.
