Hybrid embryo work 'under threat'
UK scientists planning to mix human and animal cells to find disease cures fear authorities will ban their work.
I personally think that it is stupid. They should be allowed to find cures. After all who are they finding cures for? Them the public. Not only that, they are finding cures for diseases that have no cures. Like Alzheimers and other degenerative diseases. Those people suffering will be missing out on a once in a lifetime oppertunity.
What do you lot think?

Do you have a source or somewhere where we could read up more on this? If you mean that they're mixing human and animal cells to create test animals that are closer to human biology so we can better understand ourselves, then yes, I believe they should be able to do that. A ban would just slow down research that could have great benefits to the world.
The only other issue I take with what you say is the idea that medicine companies make medicine for the public. They don't, they make medicine to make a profit. Which, cynical as it may sound is important because R&D for these treatments is very expensive, not to mention the extensive testing drugs have to go through before being approved for human use. This brings up debate about medical patients, rights of people who are sick or suffering and can be helped, ect., but thats a whole different debate.
Sorry about not having a source, looks like the link did not work. Anyway here it is again:

Also if you could elaborate on your post otherwise the mods will warn you for spamming.

I looked at the article. To summarize researchers want to use eggs from animals (because human eggs are in sort supply) to get stem cells and get a greater understanding of them. I see no problem with this. After all, it's to help people with horrible diseases.
