Has anyone ever thought about the origin for some of the names?
There's a Japanese word "Kaizen" which means to continual improvement. It seems to fit Aizen's personality, he's always trying to improve himself, getting more powerful, more skills etc.
Interesting twist though, "Zen" means good in Japanese.

Well, "Ai" means love, which is a little ironic considering who we're talking about. I don't know much Japanese but a while back I read someone say that Aizen in context could mean "before love" or something to that effect, which would make sense since he doesn't seem to value the heart.

it would depend on the kanji used to write his name really. a fluent japanese reader (or someone with a kanji dictionary) could then translate its meaning

well this is totally random but i drew this thin once in my notebook and i called it "the Aiz" i was actually thinking about Aizen. I called it "the Aiz" because the creatures i drew had big "eyes"...and Aizen's zanpakuto hypnotizes people right?? It causes illusion to those who see it...anyway that was random....

nah its not

藍染 惣右介 is the kanji for Aizen's name, each specific character in the name has is own unique meaning/sound. The first character is "Ai", second "Zen", third "So", fourth "su", fifth "ke", making Aizen Sosuke. Each of those characters has its own meaning, so to find the meaning of his name you would need to have a knowlege of kanji (or a kanji dictionary).

Actually the breakdown is . . . Ai . . . zen . . . So . . . u . . . suke.

The kanji for zen ( 染) means dye or permeate and the kanji for the u ( 右 ) menas help but when it ispronounced as migi it means right (like the direction) . . . I'm still working on the others . . . . I will update later when I have more . . .
