I just watched it. Overall okay, though I'm not a fan of Zangetsu's voice nor the way they pronouce Byakuya.

Zangetsu is voiced by Richard Epcar, who did the voice of Batou in Ghost in the Shell, Jigen in Lupin III, and Seijuro Hiko in Rurouni Kenshin, among many others. He's a good voice actor, in fact, one of my favorites. I personally wanted him for Kenpachi, but he's pretty good as Zangetsu.

One thing I didn't like about this episode was the fact that they let us find out about Zangetsu's name beforehand. In the original, we were supposed to not be able to hear his name, just like Ichigo, because it's blocked out with a muffled sound. We're basically supposed to find out his name along with Ichigo.

Aside from that, I really liked this episode. Loved Johnny's screaming when Ichigo was becoming a Hollow, though he wasn't as demonic sounding as Morita Masakazu during that part. Also, Lindsay seems to be getting into Urahara's character more and more, because he actually sounds like he's having fun. There's energy in his voice, which is what Urahara is all about. About friggin' time he's casually able to pull it off.

Byakuya was a little bit to loud and angry in that scene, I wouldn't say he's fully raised his voice and shouted yet but they can't do that until the end of episode 58 so they'd better be careful or they'll ruin the entire point of his character the fact that his anger has been building up to the end of episode 58 when he lets it all out.

Not the actors fault, probably how he was told to act it out, he's still an extremely good VA for Byakuya I think.

EDIT: what the **** do they think they're doing? "what are you talking about? its me Zangetsu" are they completely retarded or somthing, it doesn't take one braincell to understand the point of that scene, completely f***ing ruined now. What are they going to do when Ichigo shouts out the name?

Zangetsu: Call out, my name is!

*Ichigo turns around* Ichigo: ALREADY REVEALED NAME!!! *giant explosion*.

Well, Sciky, Ichigo still technically didn't hear Zangetsu's name, we did. In that scene, after Zangetsu says his name, Ichigo said "I can't hear his name." So, while they did mess up and reveal his name too early to the audience, Ichigo still isn't aware of his name.

I know, it's still very retarded. At this point, we're supposed to be in Ichigo's boat, not being able to hear Zangetsu's name either.

A couple more points about the episode. Richard Epcar mispronounces Byakuya's name pretty badly. He says it like "Beeeee-ya-Kooooo-ya," when the "bya" part is supposed to be one syllable, the the "ku" part isn't supposed to be stressed.

I'm also not digging how they left "shihakushou" untranslated. They could have just said "soul reaper uniform," "reaper uniform," "soul reaper clothes," or something.

I already know thast we can hear it but in the anime not Ichigo, that's not the point as you said, that director better not start get Byakuya shouting at moments like him talking to Hinamori or when fighting Renji, when he calls the way of destruction and binding spells.

The original guy who did Byakuya raised his voice quite a bit when calling the way of destruction spells, he still didn't fully shout until the end of episode 58 because the point is that's when all the anger he'd been keeping in all this time had finally been released. When the dub Byakuya is going to call out these spell names in the fight with Renji he'll be shouting his voice off.

Dude i have to declare best episode ever, everyone and everything was perfect... even though I knew what would happen I was still on the edge of my seat with excitement....

It was pretty good, but I remember in the sub when zangetsu said his name it was blobed out... in this one he just said it and ichigo said "i cant hear his name" a small, but un-necessary change.

Uh... I didn't like how Zangetsu revealed his name. Ichigo saying he couldn't hear his name was kind of lame. Zangetsu could've just shouted and Ichigo would've heard him. The Japanese version made much more sense.

As for everyone else, this episode was cool. Urahara's voice is getting better.

I swear they skrew up so many thing in the english version, voices, pronounciation, now Zangestsu's name? Dude, wha happened to the *bburrrzzzz* sound? I swear, I only watch the english version cause I wnaa hear what everyone sounds like. that & to see what voices were improved (like Rukia) & what were skrewed (Zangestsu)

I'm having trouble accepting Byakuya's voice. Sometimes he sounds fine, other times he just sounds too old. His voice needs to be deep yet soft. This VA only has the deep part going for him. Seriously, David Kaye (Sesshomaru) or Andrew Philpot (Vampire Hunter D) would have been much better choices for Byakuya.

I do like Zangetsu's voice is good. Though it makes me wonder who they'll get for Kenpachi.

I've been wondering that myself for a few day's now.

The person who I thought they were going to use for zaraki's actually turned out to be zangetsu.

As I thought about it though, I realised that even though he's one of the best voice's, he doesn't have a dash of insanity in his voice, which zaraki will need.

NEWS FLASH-According to wikipedia, richard epcar will also be voicing kenpachi zaraki. Oh well, it's the only voice I can think of for him.:Haha

Zangetsu's voice is acceptable to my standards i just hope they don't mess up Gin and Kenpaichi's voice then everything will be good cuz so far they have been on target for all the voices, and i love the fact they kept all the original music not like they did in DBZ

It was pretty good to me, but I can't make a quick desicion if the English dubs suck or not until I see ALL the episodes (Not ones online).

I just hope that Adult Swim doesn't do any repeats.

So far I'm enjoying the dubs.
In any case I'd never watch the dubbed version without watching the original first to see what was changed.
Anyway they are amusing on a different level because I can focus on whats happening fully instead of having to read the bottom of the screen. :D

I just saw ep 19. I am on board with everyone on here... finding out his name before hand, totally unacceptable.

To play Devil's advocate though, let's pretend you're "Dub Watching Johnny Fanboy" at home and you know nothing about Bleach. This is the first time you've seen this episode. You have no idea who the old man is, or where the hell ichigo is. So you hear, "Zangetsu" but it has no relevance. Then when Ichigo says, "Zangetsu!!!" for this first time, the light in your head comes on and you go, "oooooooooooooooooohhhhh! THAT'S who that guy was!"

So, no harm, no foul. We have to remember that dubs are made with the intention that people watching have no idea what bleach is or who the main characters are.

Doesn't mean I'm any less pissed.

I was quite upset about Zangetsu's name being revealed too early, instead of making the sound "blurry" like in the original. Now it takes a lot of dramatic effect away from the moment Ichigo actually learns it and releases into shikai...

I watched this episode to see if Ichigo's voice actor was as good at screaming as his Japanese voice actor is. He didi a pretty good job too
