no threads about horseracing? come on, theres gotta be someone whos in love with this glorious sport! it is a great sport, full of excitement, tradition and prestige. the betting is good too!(though im not old enough to bet. but its fun to pick winners, i seem to pick a lot of them. if i could bet id make plenty of money!)
i cant wait to get into this industry, training thoroughbreds is my dream job! omg that would be so cool to win a race like the Santa Anita Handicap or the Kentucky Derby! who the hell wouldnt want to win the Kentucky Derby?
sadly i might never get to train the horses since i lack experience with them, but im gonna buy some at least. hell, just watching the races as a fan is enough for me! i went to the track for the first time last year, to see Lava Man run in the Santa Anita Handicap. he won it, YAY!!! i cant wait to see him run next saturday!!! GO LAVA MAN!!! (hes my favorite horse right now, if you cant tell lol)
so is anyone here crazy about this sport? if so, whats the best race youve ever seen?
id say the 2005 Preakness, when Afleet Alex nearly got knoced down by Scrappy T at the top of the stretch, then pulled himself together to win by four lengs. that was really amazing.

You know? Everytime I hear Kentucky, I always remember KFC..>.>
Ok that was verry random..
But yeh I like horse racing too, even though I'm a bit against it because of overworking and usage of horses.
Here, we've got the Dubai World Cup that claims to be the world's richest horse race/meeting. It's organised by the Dubai Racing Club and starts on March 31 this year. It's known to attract people from all over the world who come to witness one of the declared prestigious races, including sheikhs and rulers.
If you do want to check out what I'm talking about, then take a look at this link: http://www.dubaiworldcup.com/
I wouldn't say I'm crazy about horse racing but yesh it does have its glorious excitement. ^_^

overworking? i think those horses dont get out enough! and they love to run and race, why not let them? they are naturally competitive, its easy to see during the races. even if a horse loses his rider in the middle of a race he keeps runing and tries to win.

I went to a race track once and it wasn't bad. I think IMO it justs last too long, especially when you stay for a good 5 hours. lol
Maybe another day i'll try going to one again. see if it's more fun then.

lol you think its too long, but i wish here was more time in between races! twenty-five minutes just isnt enough time to read through the racing form and pick a horse to bet on. i only win bets when i know who's gonna be in the race like a day or two before it.

Hmmm... I've never really been obbsessed or anything with horseracing as such but when The Melbourne Cup comes on every Spring here, I do like to watch and get involved...
For example, I've watched Mackabie Diva win her races, three years in a row.. I thinkn it was...
Sad that she had to be put down...
I dunno if it's true.. but I heard that she was put next to the legend Pharlap in The Melbourne Museum.... I dunno though
ALSO... lats year a Japanese horse (which I placed my bet on..) won The Melbourne Cup last year... she/he goes by the name of Pop Rock... I thought she/he was awsome... and woOt! She won... too bad I didn't place any money on the bet though >_> LOL
