Bleach Dub #20

I'm beginning to like Zangetsu's voice a bit more, but I think the voice choiced for Kenpachi was horrible. Just my opinion, but it doesn't seem to match, and I have no real opinion on Gin's VA. It was not good, not bad.

BTW, did I miss it, or did they take out some of what Zangetsu was supposed to say?

The VA for Ichimaru has the right attutude but too deep a voice, if he just spoke with a higher voice but in the same way he'd be brilliant, right now he's okay, but one of my most hated dub characters so far, as for Kenpachi practically perfect, could've been a little deeper in some spots, as for Byakuya, he raises his voice to much, but as long as he doesn't go too loud, or shout at anyone before episode 58 then the image of him the original created wont be ruined.

I am extremely impressed with Urahara this episode as well.

They edited the preview scene. Why? In any case, Gin has a funny dub voice and an ugly face. I also like Kenpachi's dub voice. Of course, I am very lax when it comes to dubs.

Ichimaru's voice = trash. I imagined a less..deeper voice.
Zaraki's = it's okay..I actually liked it.

Zangetsu's voice improved, and I heard very little of the other two's voices as I just turned on my TV at the end of that scene so I'll keep my opinion until I hear more of them. The lack of a redneck accent on Gin was a little disappointing though.

Gin's VO is on the right track, he sounds so sly that you don't know what the hell he is going to do but his voice needs to be higher in order for it to be perfect.

I have mixed reactions for Kenpachi, it sounds rough but not exactly how I pictured him.

Gin, I'm a bit iffy on. I think I want to with hold judgement as I need to get used to this take on him.

As for Kenpachi, so far that is great pretty much what I pictured him as. So I'm liking him thus far.

20 was the first episode of the Bleach dub and thought it was hilarious. It's sounds so wrong. Urahara, Keigo and Yoruichi's voices was okay but the rest were...just wrong. Gin's was amusing though

Gin didn't go that well, i expected something higher pitched, more playful like his Jap voice.
I admit Zan's voice, does sound a little better this time.

Well of course they had to edit the preview scene. The original featured Ganju talking about winning a Bleach DVD in a contest. Seeing as there is no such contest right now in the USA then why should they keep that in?

Alright, after some awful computer trouble im back to give my judgement hehehe...

Again the voices are pretty good, and during ichigo's rukia flashbacks i even got to liking Rukia's voice :O... Gin's voice is brilliant though as many of you have been saying, it could possibly have been higher... and Zaraki's is exactly how I imagined him to be. I still love Zangetsu's voice and oh my good God if Urahara wasn't perfect! The actor completely pulled out all the stops, I had shivers down my spine throughout all of his lines... yes, I did say that.

The only weak links I think were Tessai, some of his lines weren't particularly clear and the fact that they say Division x captain instead of xth division captain... it sounds slapsdash and awkward and gramatically \ syntactically wrong... damnit. Thats the only thing ive found to be awful about the translation and scripting and its about a phrase we're gonna hear so often its gonna drive me INSANE!

The thing I noticed about the voices of the dub is that they're all very similar. It's kinda annoying, but it's still ok.

i just don't bother watching the dub because some things would just seem to weird to me after watching it in japanese so long

zaraki's doesn't fit... I like the Japanese version way better he sounds too sane it doesn't fit his character in the dub... Ichimaru, well I don't like him anyway, but he needs a higher pitch... but his is ok...

Kenpachi really hasn't shown much of his "insanity" yet, so I think it's too early to judge his voice. Personally, I love it. Ichimaru, on the other hand, is just about always Ichimaru. I don't like his voice at all, but my opinion might change after I see how he handles the gatekeeper scene as well as his scene with Aizen.

Personally, I hate how they went the exact opposite of a Kansai dialect and went with some haughty, pompous, rich boy manner of speech. He talks way too proper for Ichimaru. The voice itself isn't bad, but his lines and delivery are wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.

I'm one who would have actually liked a Southern or Texas accent on him, preferable Southern, but I would have also liked no accent at all. This, however, is just... what the hell were they thinking? Ichimaru is supposed to play the fool. Unless he takes up some whiskey, makes Kira his butler and changes his name to Arthur, that kind of pompous voice just doesn't work for someone acting like an ignorant fool most of the time.

Yeah, a southern accent would have been great for Ichy, or a cockney accent. Well, I guess we have to wait and hear how he delivers other lines before completely shunning him.

Ah the dubs were alright. Gin's was kind of odd though. They should have used the guy from FF7:AC, that would of totally fit him. Zaraki's is alright, not too bad, not too good. He'll probably inprove though.

Yea, Its the opposite away around for me. I cant get used to watching in japanese and so i watch dubs which I like the voices actually. Thing is I hate waiting for the dubs to come out. :sad Oh well I can wait I guess.

Gin sounds too sophisticated... i kinda wish he did of a southern draw, Kenpachi was okay, but i can't come to a conclusion just yet. overall the dub is pretty good so far

Not bad, I think Zaraki's voice will grow more on me, it could sound a little more, idk, rough i think, more blood thursty, but will see. Gin's its near there, i think as the show progresses it will get better, or maybe we'll just get use to it.

um no. Gins voice is nasty. it don't sound sarcastic enough. I have a real problem with that. It just dont mix well imo

I think gin's voice is a little too deep, and i think they kind of messed up byakuya's voice he just sounds different. but zaraki's is okay. Can't wait for hitsugaya's dub though

Zaraki's VA doesn't make him seem like he is intimidating anymore. I really hate it, was hoping they would have found a better voice for him, but they found a terrible one.

kenpachi's voice was waaaaaaay better than i expected it to be. what a relief! now they better not give yachiru an annoying squeaky voice!
is it just me, or does urahara sound a little bit high in this episode? some parts hes talking all slow and wierd, like when ichigo tells him to dodge the attack he says "whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?"
the "i do believe you killed my hat" was funny, though.

I think he's talking about him sounding high... as in baked... as in stoned... as in... You know. Urahara's been protrayed with a lethargic, almost "stoner" type voice since the beginning, though. It's only recently that Michael Lindsay is starting to put some energy behind his portrayal of Urahara.

Kenpachi's voice is fine. His Japanese voice isn't really all that low as it is gruff, so in this respect, I think Kenpachi's dub voice suits him well. In fact, I think the dub might be a tad bit lower than the Japanese voice. However, we're really going to have to wait and see how he handles Kenpachi's "crazy" moments.

Lol, well, I think sounding stoned kinda fits Urahara. So far, I think all the voices have been decent, but I do have problem with Gin's. As everyone has said so far, it's too deep and too "fancy." But, I haven't given up hope yet! This is only the first ep with Gin, so the VA has time to improve.

i dont think so. hes my favorite character in the original japanese version, but because of his voice in the dub i almost hate him. so i dont have a favorite character for the english version. unless yachiru's voice turns out alright, which i dont expect it to. they seem to always mess up with the little kids' voices. jinta's is especially annoying.

Man, It's been a while since I've posted. Well, for the episode:

Gin: All right, I guess. Expected more of a southern accent since just about everyday was expecting that.
Kenpachi: Suits him fine.
Zangetsu: "Now shout out my name!!" About time!

The episode was good, overall. Urahara's getting better and better and that's good enough for me. I thought it was kinda funny when Ichigo called Zangetsu "Master." I was expecting uncle translated from the japanese version but hey, beggers can't be choosers.
