hey everyone! i'm back from the con. It was a lot of fun! There were two renji's - me and another girl. the vendor room didn't have a large amount of new bleach things, but i managed to get a renji and byakuya pencil board and metal renji keychain. my sword came out good and as i passed people, a few would say, "howl, zabimaru". yep, renji rocks!!!

When I started watching Bleach, it was Renji's big flashback scene that first made me cry. I thought he was awesome before, but there was a lot of depth in his character. He's great.

thanks konberry and nyuu_chan! i made the whole costume and sword. i used a pattern for the hakama, since i had to make one for me and one for a friend (she went as hanatarou). the sword was pretty easy. it's made from floor foam squares that were covered by aluminum flashing (for roofs) and then half black spray painted. it was light, just long.

Recently at a con, we made group pictures with all the Bleach cosplayers. After the first few pictures we heard the 2nd intro song from bleach. The Renji cosplayer said "It's mine!" and took his handy out of the shinigami uniform... everyone just stared at him... then we all started laughing. xD

I think everyone watched this certain Shinigami Cup golden.

I really like Renji too, so I'd like to join.

I like Renji for various reasons; I like his appearance, I think he looks cool and not like one of the more typical anime heroes. My favourite music is punk music (not emo type stuff, classic stuff like The Damned or the Dead Kennedys) so to me Renji just looks about as cool as anyone ever could. :redbiggri

Then I like his attititude - he has the "gotta keep trying" thing without making it sound lame and cliche like...hmm, let's say Ichigo or Naruto! I also like how he grew up in a poor area and had to make do, but pulled himself up with pure effort and skill. I couldn't get attached to someone who is all effortless skill like Byakuya, as it just seems dull to me, but then people who are all effort don't really impress me (Rock Lee, I'm looking at you!) so I like to see a mix of natural ability and dedication.

Finally, I actually feel sorry for him with Ichigo being around. I had a similar thing with Vegeta and Goku (me preferring Vegeta) and being particularly sad when Vegeta went Majin Vegeta only for Goku to annoyingly go SSJ3. :sad:
I'd much rather see Renji become more powerful, and I'd also rather see him get together with Rukia; he's certainly waited long enough (more than a human lifetime, if I guess correctly).

I like Renji because...um...he's always looking out for people, I guess. Even when he brought Rukia back to SS, he was still trying to protect her. Like when Byakuya came in and annouced that she's sentenced to Death Row, he seriously couldn't believe it, and when he took her to the...what was it called..Tower of Penitence, he was still trying to comfort her with news that Ichigo was there trying to save her.
