Pan's Labyrinth

Pan's Labyrinth was probably my favorite movie of this year (2006). Although it was barely advertised, it got phenomenal ratings. www.rottentomatoes.com gave it a 96%, and those critics dont judge lighty. Recently Epic Movie got a 0%, sad.

Pan's Labyrinth is in Spanish though, but subtitle reading isnt that hard after watching so many Japanese animes.

I would definatly recommend seeing this movie, if you havnt already.

BLOOOOD. I had no idea what the movie was about until it was too late; my friends had already booked the movie tickets when I saw the poster for it. The one with the ugleh pale dude with eyes on his palms... x____x GOD. I had no idea it was an NC16 show...and that it was a gothic horror. D:

just saw it. i really liked it, the ending can be interpreted 2 ways, imo, which is nice.

all you do is buy a ticket for a PG-13 movie but go see w/e you want, that's what i do, anyway.

yeah, it's completely in Spanish. I think it's better subbed than if it was dubbed, though. I also love the ending. :)

But then, later, me and my friends went out to see it (it actually came to my town two weeks after) and I loved it even more! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!

I really want to see this movie and have been hoping it will come to one of the theaters in my town ever since reading about it. The movie being in Spanish doesn't sound like a problem for me either since I'm studying Spanish, but I can't wait until I can see this movie.

I did not realize this movie was so dark, but I still really enjoyed it. However, it's really a good choice for those who are easily disturbed.

exactly, it was awesome. The art direction was awesome and the characters were deep. It is one of those movies you can seriously discuss with your friends.

The part where the captain bashes in the guy's face with a bottle was disturbing, though...and so was the one with the weird dude with eyes embedded in his hands.

When he hit him in the face with the bottle, it just came out of no where, like in the middle of the conversation, bash bash bash bash...dead.
The guy with the eyes in his palms wasnt that bad, just really intense.

One of the things i loved about this movie was its transitions between scenes. The camera would just drift sideways like really close to a tree or wall, and then when it moved to the other side of the dark tree it would be a differant environment. everytime it was perfect. like when Ofelia told the baby the story, the screen went to the womb to to mountain of thorns, to the rose, to the fairy, back to Ofelia all without jumping around, it was all one camera motion.

Simply Brilliant!

OMG i loved this move and i really like the ending. i would of been piss off if she didnt even go back to her world at the end. :D plus i like how they shoot the guy at the end that baster shot her. good thing he died

i think that an argument can be made that the girl made everything up in her head. that is why when the captain saw her in the center of the labyrinth, he just saw her talking to the space in front of her. she made everything up to escape a life full of stress. in the end, i don't think she goes back to her world, that place is just what heaven looks like to her. that's how i understood it, at least.

you could take it two ways, but perhaps the faun was visible only to Ofelia because she believed....which only adds to what your saying tho because if she believes it, then she could have made it up....

yesh, and i think the movie was intended to be undestood either way, to make it more unique. I love those multiple interpretation endings. :P
