Eating like you have no table manners always ruins a date. It's annoying when people talk to you with food in their mouths.

should give a example of those *unpleasant things ;3

for me, answering your cell phone more then twice would kill a date for me.
Too many interruptions isn't good ;/

Unpleasant things:
- Answer the cell phone a lot
- Doing pervy things
- More than 2 persons
- Acting very dumb
- lie
when the person i go out with turns out to be REALLY dumb, no matter how good looking or how she treats me, or what she wants, if she is TOO dumb for my taste, i cant stand it.... sorry if i sound mean
WAH, TOTAL DENIED-ATION!
Damn, you're good, Aramir.
I never been a date before, but I got a really bad habits: Restless Leg, tounge that always (yes, always) want to say F*CK, and tounge that always want to talk about Naruto or Bleach. It's hard to bear.
Oh, and other than always wanting to say F*CK, I like to raise my middle finger. IT'S BADASS.

- Can't keep a convo
- He/She has absoltely no manners
- Too clingy
- He/She turns out to be a guy/girl XD
- He/She makes you spend too much
- He/She laughs like a pig (ugh. I know someone who snorts every second of her life. It annoys me so much :()

I hate when they just EXPECT you to pay for everything. I mean, I believe in paying for a girl on a date, but I dont like the feeling that she knew I was going to pay for her, and just expected me to shell out the cash.

02-01-2007, 05:44 AM
meh, never been on a date...
but running around naked, screaming at people and waving your 'parts' in there face, wouldn't be a very good thing
Kyoko<3!
02-01-2007, 05:45 AM
I think constant phone calls ruin a date. I remember I went out to lunch with a girl once and she was just on the phone for most of the time. I finished my sub before she was done.
Added to that, RIGHT after she finished one call, SOMEONE ELSE called her! IMMEDIATELY! Damn I mean she was realllyyyy hot and realllyy popular, but that was just a sign of total disrespect. Guess I wasn't important enough to pay attention to.
Evanesque
02-01-2007, 05:48 AM
One of the things that can ruin a date is when one person talks on and on about something and doesn't know when to shut up. It's worse when he/she continuoulsy talks about his/her ex's, what they did, how they got dumped, etc, etc...then spilling his/her personal problems, etc.
Now that would make you never want to see that person ever again!
omg i hope no one chooses his/her ex-gf/bf as topic in a date that would not
only be contra-productive but also pretty stupid and there we have the reason
someone else mentioned "if the person is REALLY dumb" :redbiggri
what else would kill a date, i guess if the other person acts nice towards you
but is rude to others. (a person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter is
not a nice person, they say)
Evanesque
02-01-2007, 06:42 AM
But that depends, if the waiter isn't a nice guy and leers at you, then what can you do? Sit and smile and pretend nothing's wrong?
Many waiters are sarcatic (can't blame them, they're under pressure) and they behave rudely, in such cases, it's ok for the person to complain...although it's best to notify their supervisor rather than the waiter himself.
Another date ruin-er is when the person barely talks and you later find out that you have nothing in common and dislike most of the things he/she does.
well if that occurs you stay calm and put in your complaint but i meant being
rude as in disrespect them, acting as you are something better. you know
that arrogance thing. and the waiter was just an example here. can be anyone
else aswell.
well the risk that you aren't really of the same type, with same interests
is always there, i guess you have to be aware of that.
Evanesque
02-01-2007, 06:58 AM
Yesh but there are some people who are experts at pretending to be someone they're not. How do you tell the difference between the real guy/girl and the fake?
I agree, being arrogant is a big turn off, I mean who are you to even say that? We're all human beings..having tons of money doesn't change anything, you lil peice of dipshit...*cough*
That was an example, btw..:redbiggri
Oh this is from experience, one of my ex's (whom I totally regret feeling bad for) was an idiot, I mean by idiot I mean he was lame and just plain sad..he was such a miser too.
We once went bowling (Rin was there)...that's where he kissed my cheek and then actually apologised for doing it. I was o_O and shuddered..the only reason I went out with him was because I felt bad for him..never again will I try to interfere with people's miserable lives...ugh..
Anyway, after bowling we all went for sheesha where the guy started telling me how much it cost him to come to this place by bus. Dh 8, which is like $2. He went on and on about how much his clothes cost and how cheap they were.
Geez now if that wasn't a worst date, what is? I woke up the next day thinking 'wtf am I doing? What was I thinking?' and dumped him ASAP...:redbiggri
I don't think he took it very well...who cares anyway :D
Note: Ev ish not mean, Ev ish not mean, Ev ish not mean :redbiggri
well you should always tell the truth that way you don't have to remeber
what it was you've said. and i wouldn't try to act different or disguise yourself
because there are people that can see thru the veil you created and the
outcome could be devastating.
also talking about money could be a turn off, it's like bringing a copy of
the letter from your bank, you get at the end of the month, to a date.
uncool!

I think girls who expect guys to pay the bill is kinda thickskinned. I would go split half half. Anyway, the total ruiner is that the person just talks in monotone and gives you one word answers. IT WOULD BE SO BORING.
Dates are supposed to be filled of laughter and fun. (:

hmmm, lots of comments:
@Eva: Kissing on the cheek is common here as a way of saluting each other, but then again, if you're on a date, first: you dont ask for a kiss, you just take it; second: you never apologize, if you are gonna kiss, let it be for a fair reason, and not with doubts about it, havr nothing to regret. Third: if she/he didnt want to be kissed, prepare psycologhycally for a slap or a reaction of some sort.
@Silverwolf: Of course thats bad, shows you have no real interest for the person and how she feels, and youonly care for what you can do with her/him
@krayZekriz: thats definetely a killer, an almost immediate sign that both are: 1)too shy, and find it hard to talk. in which case i recommend to try to find a common interest and start by that...
2) you have no common interests and the thing just winds down to a a certain failure

These are just personal opinions of mine...
Ruin:
-Don't know when to shut up about something
-Constantly on the phone
-Acts really dumb
-Obviously wants to get into your pants at the end of the date
-Turns out to be the opposite sex
-Acts immature (like burps and farts and laughs about it or something)
-Chews with their mouth open
-Doesn't wipe food off their face
-Doesn't know how to kiss at the end of the date
-Asks about your sex life (or previous one)
-If you're in a bar and he tries to get you drunk
GOOD:
-Chews with mouth closed
-Acts like a civil guy (even if he wants to get into your pants)
-Acts smart
-Courteous
-Makes minor moves on you (like holding hands, putting arm around you in a theatre)
-Doesn't answer their cell
-Is really a guy
-Tries not to get you drunk
-Walks you to the door
silverwolf801
02-01-2007, 07:38 PM
hm I won't do any of things on a date. well maybe the try to get into your pants at the end of the date one, but that is only if you are really good looking.

Ways to ruin a date:
- Make her pay for the food.
- Ask her if she's ever done [insert sexual activity here].
- Checking out other girls.
- Taking her to McDonalds for a date..
- Looking at places other than her eyes. >.>;
- Leave to go to the bathroom, and come out smelling like shit, with tissue paper on your shoes.
- Having a condom fall out of your wallet when you go to pay for the food bill.
- Having a picture of your ex, or another phone number drop out of your wallet when you go to pay for the food bill.
Ways to make your date pwnage:
- While she's eating...let's say "steak". Say something like, "Would you like some [insert name here] with that steak?

Bad breath is a quick date-killer.
It's always good to carry 2-3 mints. You bring extra just in case for meals and stuff.
Also, try to avoid using gum as it will become a annoyance.
if that's all you have for your breath, spit it out after 2 minutes.
smell bad in general, that would be a turn off i guess

I like a lady that likes to eat... theres nothing worse than seeing a woman who only drinks water and eats half a cracker on a DINNER DATE. So i encourage her to order whatever she wanted... Wow, that was the first time I had ever regretted saying that because that's exactly what she did. She ate like it was a Thanksgiving Day Feast. Man, the date cost me well over a hundred. After that I made a quick mental note, to change my policy on telling a girl to order whatever she wanted. I don't mind spending money on dates, but at least wait a couple dates before robbing me blind. WOMAN, ITS JUST THE FIRST DATE! LOL, in any case, even though it actually was a surprisingly good date I didn't ask her out again because I don't think my bank account could handle it. All I'm saying is... Ladies, we are playing this mating game because we know you guys like it. If it were up to me, an ideal date would be sitting at home, order some pizza, sit back and watch a movie(and I'm sure most guys would agree with me on that) but we play this game for you!!! Try to cut us some slack!!!

I love buying my dates movie tickets or food or something like that; especially if it makes 'em happy, cuz thats the whole point, right? Of course, there is a point where it gets too far. I dont want to spend every cent I have on one night, ya know? Just dinner and a movie, not some necklace that you happen to see in a store as well, lol. I hope I sound like a jerk, because Im not. I swear. :Domo

One oddity was when I met a certain girls father for the fist time. The father had some problem with his 'little girl growing up' or some such thing and ended up wanting to box me. Yes, a boxing match. The idea was to belittle me in front of his daughter.
After almost half an hour of pestering me about being a man I gave into my growing aggravation and agreed to the match. Hell if I won I'd be a total ass and not welcome anymore, and I hate to lose. Everyone has limits to how much annoyance they can take before walking into a lose lose situation. I reckon he figured he'd drive me off or get me to enter such a situation that ended with me leaving. Little did he know his daughter would end up doing a fine job of driving me off for him.
Luckily the testosterone fizzled when her mother said you boys can fight or have dinner, but not both. Later curiosity showed me I wouldn't have been able to use the spare set of gloves anyhow, I think they were made for cave trolls. So yeah, worked up over nothing.
I figure my own father trying to hire one of my dates as a maid might not have been in good taste either. Things never seem to go well when its not just me and a girl.

I'm a very picky eater, so I'm not up for fancy restaurants. I'd rather go to a dinner [Johnny Rockets.] If I don't like something, I wont eat it.
Things that would ruin a date for me would be:
- smokes excessively [Every other bite, there running out to take a drag.]
- over does it with liquor. [I like partying, but I don't want to be the one driving you home lol.]
- clown [someone who's constantly joking around and can't just talk.]
- talking about your ex.
- texting at dinner.
- checks out every chick walking by.

1. Paying too much.
2. When you're expected to do something.
I especially don't like it when my date asks me to go on the date, and then she expects me to do something for her. It's like--wtf?

@Tyekanik - HAHA, yeah having your dad try to hire your date as a maid is definitely a surefire recipe for disaster. ROFL...
Another way to ruin a date is - I don't mind the texting as long as it doesn't consume you but talking on the phone in the middle of a date. Seems like a total lack of respect. I haaaaaaaate that.

What things can ruin a date for you
Discuss/Post things that will just kill a date for you.
(especially if its a 1st)
If you already had a bad date and want to share some specific things that ruined it, go ahead.
----------
if your stuck:
Think about the key things you would want in a Good date,
...now think of the complete OPPOSITE of that...
optional: Do you yourself have any BAD habits? >.>
(answer if you want)
Skip dinner and the movie use the money for a hotel room= good
Pay for all that crap to get a peck on the cheek= wtf
=) seriously though... First sign of selfishness or negative chatter is a turn off...bad mouthing people...or just negative attitude on anything.
I prefer someone who is positive ...attempts to show optimism and truely just wants to have a conversation about eachother to learn about eachother...if the date doesnt go this direction...I call it dead and try to end it quick.
If you dont click on the start why waste time and money.

I think one of the best ways to ruin a date is to pick your boogers and NOT show them off. >.> That's just me.

Attempt kissing without brushing your teeth.

When you whip it out it automatically ruins the date. No one wants to see you showing off your cellphone/text/talk to someone on it the whole date.

How to ruin one? The topic already has a bunch of great answers lol
But I guess I could contribute.
-Don't expect to much
Don't wander into the future (Children, Homes, Jobs)
-Look at another guy that way
God, you're in a date with me not Dale the waiter that just went by >__>
-Hate on stuff I enjoy
It's ok to disagree and have preference, but for example.
I like rock music, don't say I'm an emo punk who only listens to screamo.
-Don't start on the sexual side of intimacy so soon
I'm absistent so yeah that explains it
-Expand on conversations
Don't just laugh at my past embarrassing experience and let a possible great conversation die off like that. Continue it with something of your own, or just keep it alive. I hate that silence, I feel like I'm trying to plan out the conversations and that's just weird.

Silence is a killer. If I get caught in the silence I'm done for.
