She claims the game World of Warcraft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft) has consumed her husband making him neglect both her & their child.

yea... great problem solver :whatevah:
Though certain aspects of this show did irk me..
it does bring up a point or 2.
Many people have abused the things they like to the point
it has left them dis-connected w/ the world & close ones.
Especially activities involving the internet & online interaction.
so yea, Discuss the video &/or the solution.
Are you also addicted to WoW? or something else online related?

...wonder what happened to CB's WoW skin >.>

woot.. talk about all for show.. ( I bet he just went and bought new cd's after the show..:whatevah: )
Well I guess I'm quite addicted to msn and cb.. Because I have nothing else to do besides that and training now.. Though I don't see it as a major addiction. I used to play WoW, but I got so freaking bored and for some reason I bought Burning Crusade(expansion) which I won't be playing anyways. It's stashed away somwhere with all the trash in my room..
And I gotta agree that the dude took his own enjoyment too far(pssh.. an escape? lame excuse) by making other people suffer cuz he wanted to have fun. To be a man you gotta take on the responsabilites you've created, just suck it up, there are good times and bad times..
Even though this scene looks really staged (Thanks Tyra!), it still happens to a lot of people. I know friends that play it day and night, 24\7.
Reason why I'll NEVER play the game.

The game doesn't require a disk to play, only to install.
And you can direct download the files from Blizzard if you don't want to go to the store and get disks.
GOOD GAME, TYRA. WAY TO RESEARCH.
/FAIL
And...TWO THUMBS DOWN for effort. I'd give it three, except I don't have them.

At least its not as bad, as that one couple that let their baby actually die, because they were too busy playing World of Warcraft.
Also, there was this guy in like korea, china or somewhere like that, that died at his computer because he wouldn't stop playing to go eat or anything.
Lol, snap the disk, like that works lol. I used to be addicted to D2 LOD but now I havent played for 10 days woot :D and shin how do I add friends or I see people have like e-family?

@shinomori: i know =|
He had Tyra, his wife & the whole crowd fooled.
They were clapping their hand like that actually solved the problem...
chea. -.-
(noticed the slight smirk on his face)
he's probably at home still playing.

@Endless:
yea, i found alot of reports about WoW.
There were multiple suicides so i'm not sure which one your referring to
Also, a group of parents (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=2&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.joystiq.com%2F2005%2F11%2F18%2Fparents-suing-blizzard-for-world-of-warcraft-addiction%2F&ei=eLPCReSEMYnMgwSM_4GVCg&usg=__SuTubIk4SE0fPFOBbF8I5sqY2Co=&sig2=jdgzsfOjZpYbrQ9boTC5YQ) have started a lawsuit against Blizzard for the addictiveness of WoW. ;/

Anyways I know plenty of people who are addicted(not sure to that extreme). I was for awhile but now I just play casually.

I'm sticking with Kriz on this one, just another reason not to play. The game consumed my oldest brother this year, and he refuses to stop, even when I tell him why he should (ie GF, job, rent).

I'm going to be the voice of Dr. Drew here:
"When you have kids, you give up all right to be addicted to anything."
Seriously, what is this loser thinking? Is his kid going to grow up with a dad who can't leave the computer for fear that his raid group will need him?
Everyone complains about how hard to quit the game is. I played it for months, and then decided that there were more important things in life, and I quit. I never looked back.
And if some people are incapable of living in the real world... Well, maybe it's time for her to call off the engagement.
HOWEVER It's not the fault of Blizzard. Millions of people are willing to pay for a MMORPG, and Blizzard gave them a really good one. I look at all the hard-working programmers and artists who have a job thanks to WoW. It's not their fault that idiots can't quit a friggin' game.
And yes, the definition of addiction is (Dr. Drew again),
"doing something despite the consequences."
Lots of people can play WoW without any consequences. This man cannot.

im mega addicted to CB, but its not that im addicted to the internet, its that ive made freinds through CB and its fun to talk to other people about anime and whatnot, when most of my freinds in RL would just think im a dork, its CB in the end that encourages my love for anime and is a getaway from judgement of other people..
EDIT: hey atleast WoW and CB arnt bad for my lungs lol

addiction to the net is serious, and i admit there are times where i am addicted to MMORPGs and CB that i forgo my sleep/rest/family/friends, where my mom will sense this and decide to ban my from my comp temopraily. Like now i just recovered from e fever due to lack of sleep.
I think i need to train on self-control :p

Sorry, the game isn't what addicts people. It's their own damn personalities. If they've had an addiction of some kind before, chances are they'll get addicted to this. It's their fault for not doing it in moderation.

<3 stereotypers.
I play WoW, but I'm only level 26 so I haven't got to the good parts of the game yet.
I admit i baught a computer and wow as originally an escape route to my rl problems etc, still i wouldn't miss anything important like my own birthday party or anything, nor would i choose that over real life, now after a year of playing wow, i am so damn bored of it, all mmorpgs are is a grindfest, what happened to the type of mmorpg thats like a real rpg heh.
Wow is an addiction if you let it be an addiction, same with anything else.

but that wasnt much of a solution. destroying a bunch of CD's..
He was seriously addicted though- but you do know there are people with worse addictions...(ever seen south park the WoW episode?)
well anyways. im glad he sorted out his life.

rofl did you hear about that one news article saying a teenager killed himself because his parents banned him from spending more than a few hours at the computer? It was an online article and probably from 2 years ago...WOW
back to the show, like many others said that episode wasn't convincing. The CD was just for installing. He can still play it and there is serious need of therapy if they're taking the whole break the addiction thing seriously. He wasn't just addicted. he was..or is ADDICTED

Let's not forget to mention that blizzard now lets you download the installer and such via bit torrent/direct DL off their site. As long as he's got a net connection, he can FEED THE BEAST.

Funny thing is, you don't need the CDs to play the game... plus you can download it from the "Account Management" page and burn it into another cd/dvd.
it's not like higher levels are any better.
And you play it? Sounds like you don't, if you did, you would know you get more powerful, learn better skills, better armour, better stats. And if that was sarcasm, it sucked. Chump.

Yes I do. I had Level 35 Night Elf Druid (got deleted by my faggot cousin when I was afk'd. broke his fingers for it.)
Had a level 28 Tauren hunter (class is boring as ufck)
And am now a lvl 20 Blood elf Rogue. So basically, higher levels are more fun because it's the same shit but now you have CRAZY ARMOR. I'm just saying, it's not much better than a lower level. *shrug* But then again, thats how all MMOs are.
But I play on an RP server, so I get some interaction in to keep me from getting bored with GRIND GRIND GRIND. (getting into a fight with a Tauren over ethics is great. Especially when you start referring to them as foot :D)
its really easy to get addicted to games where you have to pay regularly...
http://www.xenimus.com/ You have to pay regularly for this. And I can assure you it's about as addicting as smashing your ballsack with a sledgehammer.

Meh, that's normal. There's always an odd ball in a group of people. That's like making the analogy saying someone who drives is addicted to street racing because street racers drive.
People just blow this out of proportion.

Puh-leaze. WoW, a good game? AHAHAHAHAHA. That game sux.
^Excuse the bias, but I generaly dislike RPGs with loads of graphic. Freeform textbased and browser based are the best :o.
Anyway, I do think I can understand, I'm mega addicted to the internet and CB, and I neglect my studies and a lot of other things because of it. Still, I do think I manage to slowly learn how to avoid neglecting my life because of that shiny monitor.
And there's no such thing as "escape" to excuse addiction. If the person is too weak to control himself (yes I r weak! So sue me), it's his own goddamn fault.

@Thelindra: well they are serving them too much. Why aren't the government stopping them? But if WoW is loss, then WoW players go angry and rampage or sumthing...I havn't seen the solution to the WoW husband thing yet, just seen the problem.
@Undying: The only solution to that is to lock your computer and exercise a lot. That's gonna be a difficult journey, even i can't stop it. Only my dad and mum can stop me. (And they did, it was a success to my grades at school)

I remember a LONG time ago, I saw a similar article about Everquest. In the article, a married woman was playing the game, became friends with some guy in the game, they got to talking and she actually divorced her husband to go off and be with this other guy.

Blizzard is doing nothing wrong. My friend plays WoW. He plays for 5 hours a day, maybe...3 days a week? yet still finds time to work a well paying job, help around the house, and hang out with friends. I play for like, 6 hours a day, every day, and still manage to help around the house and work on other stuff.
It's not blizzard's fault. It's the gamer's for getting hooked. Self control. If they get that addicted, they need to stop playing.
EDIT:
It's kinda like going up to a beer company and saying "hay budweiser. a lotta people r hooked on ur shit. stop making plz?" It's up to the boozer to drink responsibly. Just like it's up to the WoWnerd to play responsibly.
