Becuase Tite Kubo made them evil! Tite Kubo is the real villin behind Aizen!

Well, Aizen wanted to find more power, hes just ur average power wantin guy±! Gin followed Aizen cuase hes aizens lacky! And Tousen becuase apparently he was finding justice!

They are all somewhat cocky, I guess it is because they rank above everyone.

No by cocky he doesn't mean necessarily evil. Cocky captains are Kenpachi, Byakuya, Mayuri, the 2nd division captain (the woman). Aizen is not cocky, he just knows his level and that no one can stand a chance against him. I believe when a time comes with a dangerous opponent he wouldn't be so naive to play the cocky guy. Aizen understands the facts. Gin is also not cocky, he is the cool kinda guy which even with a dangerous opponent he will still try to look cool. Also Tousen is not cocky. He fights for his justice no matter how difficult the opponent is, he will try to fight him even if it kills him.
