I was astounded to not be able to find any Guitar Hero threads in my search and so I now post this, more specifically related to number 2 rather than number 1.

Anyone played it? Anyone like it? Anyone love it? Does anyone love it that much that you hate it? Does anyone simply hate it?

Are you just starting out, getting good? Semi pro, or straight up pro and rocking out on perfecting everything under the sun whilst striving to play hard with the same perfection?

Is anyone that damn jedi that they're already at the stage they can perfect songs on hard as though it were on the easy setting? Anyone stuck on Expert? Anyone...*gasp* perfecting expert? o_O

Personally I'm a pro, I'm not being modest, I just know out of all the people I know, and where I live I know a lot of people...well more people probably know me than I know them, but never mind that isn't the point. The point is I am without a doubt the second best person around my area on the game, and I'm at the stage now where I have only 1 yes 1 mission left to achieve.

PsychoBilly Freakout...once I finish (I say finish, because I've perfected the first half and screwed up the second half >_<;;;; ) perfecting that badboy I will have no reason to play normal ever again. I will only be playing hard as though it were the "Normal" setting.

Hard is easy, but perfecting it, is definately a challenege. Expert...definately difficult, but by no means impossible, it just takes time, dedication and practice. I'm pretty much all the way through it...but getting those bloody 5 stars on all of expert is a killer. >_>

Another question is which did you prefer? Almost EVERYONE I know says number 1 by far...now I don't disagree that there are some seriously awesome tunes on number 1, but in my opinion number 2 is firstly somewhat harder, and there is a far larger selection of awesome tunes, which for me tips the balance slightly in favour of 2. Even so...you just have to throw number 1 on from time to time to blast some of those rockin' rifts. ^_^

So...where are you guys with this?

I own both games and both versions of the guitar that came with the package, but I never played it. Was for my sister :P. Looks fun as hell though :) And I could of sworn a thread exists, i'll check :P

...So what if we just made this the *NEW* Guitar Hero thread! :redbiggri

I absolutely adore Guitar Hero I and II. There was a contest held at a Circuit City not too long ago, and I was gonna participate but I had to work :sad .

I'm currently stuck on the last set of songs on expert. The one with Freebird <3

yes i have it (the second one), but haven't played it yet (also my sisters game), looks fun to play though.

what i hate is that it's hard to play. no training mode means i'm gonna keep failing BATM on hard........haven't even attempted expert. at least with GH2 there's a slight possibility i could stand a chance playing the hardest song thanks to the newly added training mode. that being said, i haven't gotten GH2 yet but i intend to soon.

to be really honest i don't know how people managed to get through expert mode in the first GH.

Why do you hate Guitar Hero? :sad

Bark at the Moon...*drools* I love that awesome guitar rift...such skill, such a buzz to pull it off. ^_^

Lol...I know why I couldn't find it DB...I forgot to search from "the begining" lol...never mind. -_-;

I finally recompleted Hard mode on number 2 today since my girlfriend's sister kindly overwrote my save with her new one. >_<;;;;;

Once again I found myself stuck on Tattooed Love Boys on Expert. It took me forever to get past this song last time through, but I'll do it again.

I went on a perfecting mission today, and looked up the maximum possible scores on a few songs.

I was suprised to find that a lot of my perfects were ever so marginally below the maximum possible scores. >_<

Like for instance Less Talk more Rokk's maximum is 216k something...something...my score is 215k 8 something...something... bah. lol.

Anyone who hasn't played it and says it looks fun...DON'T start playing unless you are prepared to become addicted and spend hours upon hours on it. ^-^

So...what are some peoples favourites from both games?

GH1: Bark at the Moon, Get ready to roxx, another that I cannot think of the name right now, and last but by no means least, More than a Feeling.

GH2: Without a doubt my absolute favourite is Gemini, there's no contest.

It used to be Carry on Wayward son...but people abused it and I got sick of hearing it...then I found Gemini and fell in Love. ^-^

PsychoBilly not to far behind...just because it feels great to play it well.

I despise FreeBird for the simple reason it would have been great without the intro lol.

I definitely love Get Ready to Rokk from GH1.

From GH2 I <3 Monkey Wrench, Yyz, Less Talk more Rokk, Tattooed Love Boys, Carry on my Wayward Son annnnnd there's others that I'm not just thinking about right now --- there's only a few songs that I really don't like. :p

You might have an appreciation for this:

My girlfriend recently bought the game and got hooked, she played it for roughly 6 days, as a lefty might I add, and then had a week's break due to working 10 hour night shifts. She then played it on and off for a further 5 or so days, and has already perfected her first song - Mother.

Her score on Less Talk More Rokk already excedes that of people who've played far longer and thrashed the game far more than she has. ^-^

202k she hit on it, considering I still haven't managed the perfect score of 216 and whatever odds (215 and something or other) I think she's gonna be damn good when she's played it for a lengthy amount of time. o_O

I still haven't recalled the name of that damned tune from number 1...but it is without second on my favourite list right behind Bark at the Moon and just ahead of More than a Feeling.

For some reason I'm thinking it was the Deep Purple song...but I could be wrong.

Thanks for starting this thread man. I can't believe I didn't start one. I love the game and I play it almost everyday. I own the second one but I played through the first one and beat it on normal mode. Right now I'm over half way through Expert. I have to play Rock this Town. I hate that song not just because it's hard but also because it is just a crappy song. I hate playing Jordan on Expert. I feel like I suck at the game when I play it. Besides that, I'm really good at the game. The Freebird solo isn't that bad in Expert by the way. I don't practice on any particular song. I just play a song whenever I feel like it. :headbang

Heh, I can't believe I haven't looked up this thread before.

I own both versions, and I've played GH1 all the way through and gotten 5 stars on all of the Expert songs.

GH2 is a bit harder, and I'm still working my way through Hard, and perfecting all of the songs on Medium. Plus, I have to contend with my little brother. He's always wanting to play. -_-

If you seriously like this game try DL frets on fire for you comp...same idea but with a keyboard ...DUH!...its a small game too not requiring that much of your comp space...:)

on the contrary it's worth noting that someone DID manage to use a ps2-to-usb converter to play the game. i read it on a forum a while back and i can't remember where though.....probably with 3rd party drivers of some kind along with joy2key utility to map the buttons. i'm not entirely certain if strumming was implemented but it was still pretty darn close.

I've only played Guitar Hero once, and it was in a gaming store. =P

But it was pretty fun for the time it lasted, especially being a guitarist myself.

Unfortunately though, I don't own a PS2. =\
Might as well go out and buy one... they're heaps cheaper nowadays...

Omfg yes; you know that Cowboys From Hell on Expert is a fucking nightmare tune. ^_^

For some reason I find that GH2 is far easier than GH1, for the simple reason that yesterday I battered the whole of GH1 on expert up to Cowboys From Hell and Bark At The Moon.

When I switched over to GH2 after that, I walked through to the second to last set on Expert without breaking a sweat. o_O

Well I got guitar hero 2 for the 360. @a2k at the moment there are no downloadable songs. I looked online as to why that is and I found out since its relativitly new. They dont expect songs to be available for download till next week. Right now im working on Thunderhorse by dethklok on expert. That is one tough song lol. Once songs start showing up in the download section ill post them for you guys who are interested.

just a little info for GH people getting GH 2 for the 360

It's going around the gaming sites, but if you've got a guitar with model number 95055, HV1.0 with the port for the foot pedal next to the controller cable, your whammy might be not acting as it should be. Consider returning the thing for a 95065, BV1.0, which has the foot pedal port moved down to what I assume is the memory card port and one of the stubs used to latch on the strap.

This all comes as Target corporate announced a recall but a random sampling of Targets, Best Buys, Gamestops, or even RedOctane themselves had no dice.

RedOctane is aware of the situation. They offer one remedy: do not press down any buttons or the whammy bar while the game is starting up. As for the "recall", that was just something on Target's part due to broken street dates.

Hmm thanks alot for the information Stier I will have to check which model I have. It seems like my whammy bar has been fine, but ill look into it anyways.

I like the game. It's nice but too bad that the makers didn't incorporate online mulitiplayer for Xbox 360 (not that I have a 360 or anything, but it would've been nice if they added that feature) Oh yeah, humility is the first step to greatness. Instead of boasting how good you are at, how about letting people do that for ya, okay? One more thing. Have you gone to any tournaments recently? Just curious.

i hereby revive this thread by posting what looks to be one of the scariest songs on the upcoming Guitar Hero 3: "Through the Fire and Flames" by Dragon Force.

_ZutgOyA9EY

for those who haven't seen it, it's just a 2 minute sampling of this massive 8 minute song.

also here's a link to the original mp3 file of the song.

guitar hero is gay....to me its just another version of DDR.

Actually, they are very different (I am great at DDR, but can barely do Hard on Guitar Hero)

And what is wrong with DDR?

Guitar Hero is a fairly (although not completely) unique game that is very fun, has a massive range of difficulties, and a great selection of songs (Though the 80s mix one blows, song wise)

Shikaru-Kuto
09-05-2007, 04:08 AM
no it isnt man....Guitar Hero is just the same thing as DDR...THE ONLY DAMN DIFFERENCE is that your doing it with your hands and not your feet.

Draffut
09-05-2007, 02:22 PM
In that case, playing a Drum set is the same thing as Ballet. Or singing in an Opera is the same as playing a Guitar. Or maybe Break Dancing is the same thing as playing a harp.

I mean, if it involves music, it must all be exactly the same, right?

once again this in terms of game play and gaming field.

mthegreatone
09-07-2007, 07:15 PM
there's still no need to put it down just for those facts alone. there may be some people physically incapable of doing DDR, whereas guitar hero is slighty easier for anyone to get into since the controls are relatively intuitive.

09-13-2007, 07:08 PM
that has nothing to do with critic, if you write negative critics about a game you have to state reasons why something is bad and how it could have been done better. writing stuff like "it's plain bad" helps absolutely no one if you aren't explaining why it is so bad and just because it isn't your taste doesn't mean a game is bad since you have to look at games subjective.

Oh no. I think he has a reason, it's just way too complex for our weak mental capacities to possibly comprehend. I, however, using complex equations and mathmatical figures, do believe I have gleamed it. It goes a little something like this.

"DDR is gay because it is a rhythm game, Guitar Hero is ALSO a rhythm game, therefore, it must be gay."

Guitar Hero is pretty decent. I for one love it but find me kinda getting bored with it a few weeks later. The fun is there but the replay value for me is not too great, unless you and a friend have fun with it. But it's fun. I have both 1 and 2 and look foward to playing 3 and also getting Rock Band.

All I can say is that the music rocks but need some more today tracks and tone down on the 80's stuff a little more. Give it a nice balance but other than that pure fun.

Didn't notice this thread before....

I own GH II and GH Encore 80s. I can play Hard rather easily and am working on Expert. At the moment, im stuck on the final set for GH II.

As for songs in Encore...yeah, they are weak. Only 3-5 are truly difficult...Play with me anyone? That song is intense! All the other songs are just fun to play if you are into that kind of music.
