Overrated and Underrated characters

Who do you think are overrated and underrated characters, and why? My opinion:
Overrated:
Hitsugaya
reason: probably young teenage girls find him hot, and what guys see in him? I have no idea, but maybe someone will enlighten me:P
Byakuya
reason: girls find him hot, and guys like his power and attitude.

Underrated:
Tatsuki
reason: in that case I guess KT made her underrated, because she has potential, but doesn't do much
Shinji
reason: in fact many people like him, but when I want to find some art or fanfics with him, it's futile. I think people are scared of his teeth.

If some more come to my mind I'll post it. And I have no intentions of starting any argument who's cool and who's not. It's only my neutral point of view, and I can be wrong.

Overrated:

Rukia.

Face it people, she's as useless as they come. She has no role whatsoever anymore, she's just there to please the fans, and even then she is retarded (I mean, really, going up alone against him? Puh-leeze).

Underrated:
Ichigo. A lot of people complain that he has not enouhg moves or that his bankai is too useless. This is untrue, Tensa Zangetsu is plenty powerful on its own.

I've no idea why people like Rukia - I simply can't understand what is there to like in a retarded woman incapable of using her head properly even once, and still act so high and mighty.

As for Ichigo, I haven't seen a lot of fandom for him lately, so I think that just his popularity went down because of his recent losses. I did see a lot of threads ranting about how he needs more techniques, so I figured that he's probably disliked because he appears so weak.

- Orihime: some people see her as a weak character while she is a very strong character. I know Orihime hasen't got strong fighting powers but healing is very important too ... especially Orihime's abilities cause she can reverse time on things.

- Rukia: err ... I don't like her ... and people say she is strong and so on but in fact I think she isn't that strong at all (Can't remeber her beating a strong hollow on her own ... she didn't defeat the hollow that attacked Ichigo in the begining). They only think of her as strong cause they want her to be like that ... cause that's the image they have of her

I was just saying in another thread how both Inoue and Chad are underrated, people just think they aren't that good because shinigami have bankai and they can't match that very well.

Orihime is a weird character, because she can be overrated and underrated at the same time, it all depends if you like her or not. But maybe it's like that with all charactersO_o

It's like that with some of the characters. For example, people can underrate and overrate Hitsugaya at the same time. From an onjective point of view, he's weak comapred to the laege ge's in (captains) but he's not trash.

Rukia can only be overrated - or rated at all - if you're her fan. Anyone who isn't either ignores her or agrees she's the most useless one out there.

Inoue's not like that - we all know she's strong already, there's nothing to say abou tit here. If you overrate her by saying she's the strongest you're a crazy fan (me!!! XD) or you can underrate her if you hate her (like 99% of all people!), but without being a biased fanboy/girl you can't say she's useless or almighty goddess.

Underrated:

Aizen: Some people seem to think he's just going to be suddenly defeated by Ichigo in a fit of rage and power. I'd like to see him try.

Orihime: She's powerful, yes, though it seems the general opinion is that she's weak. But it's amazing just how central she is to the story (not going any further for anime watchers).

Ichigo: The hero. Everyone's savior. Owner of pwnage bankai. How could people think he's so boring?

Komamura: We don't think of him that much, but the general concensus seems to be that he's pretty weak because he couldn't pwnage Zaraki or Aizen. Note that Ichigo almost died during both encounters and didn't even lay a finger on Aizen. I think he's a captain for a reason.

Ichimaru Gin: So he's got a long-range weapon and he "lost" to Hitsugaya (that was child's play for him, I think). There must be a reason he's Aizen's right hand man. We shouldn't underestimate this one, no way.


Overrated:

Rukia: For reasons stated above.

Yamamoto: I don't deny he's the strongest captain in Soul Society, but there are things much stronger than captains out there, and some probably even stronger than him. I wouldn't even be surprised if Aizen killed him with barely any effort. Plus, he's the Cliche Old Wise Man In Adventure who has to die eventually so the young ones can blossom, so we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves and be totally convinced that he'll pwn anything that comes his way. Maybe 98% of things, but not everything.

I think I've said this a couple of times already but Komamura did NOT fight Kenpachi AT ALL. He did release his bankai but right after he sensed Yamamoto fighting and he left. Him defending Tousen was the only time he actually touched Kenpachi (well his Zanpakuto anyway). No I'm not angry, I just wanted to clear that up, especially since I agree on him being underrated. He only was shown "fighting" when he lost to Aizen, so we don't really know how strong he is. I don't hate Rukia but yea she's a little overrated, I mean she's supposed to be fairly experienced, but I guess Byakuya holds her back....

i agree with you . why? cuz when hitsugaya was defeated by aizen nobody said he was weak cuz of the way he fight everyone from the first time liked him but after he was beaten a few people thought he is weak. his shikai and bankai is cool thats why people like him and he is handsome or cute.
unlike komamura his bankai is really boring for a lot of people cuz the bankai only copies what komamura do but that doesn't mean he is weak and doesn't have other abilities.

so what if the hollow intefers? isn't he part of his soul or personality?
ichigo is strong but still he doesn't have a lot of experience in fighting and he don't know how to use kidu. but my point is that ichigo is strong thought i hate his personality sometimes.

To the topic. I don't think the strength is the reason to underrate or overrate someone. Maybe for guys, but believe me, girls don't pay so much attention to that. For me for example it's not so important. At least not the most important factor. Personality, that's what I take under consideration the most.

Overrated: Hitsugaya - Everyone expectd him to be a real good character cuase hes a reancarnation of some angel(I think!) but hes shit! he can hardly wield a sword! let alone a gigantic ice-dragon! Underated: Zabimuru - This sword is soooooooo fricken awsome! But yet, it hasnt seen much action in a while, this sword, and rengi, have a lot of potential! KT needsm to shine the light on The baboon king once again!

Rukia simply because she basically does nothing in the story accept for the current arc and she still gets herself getting beated up in the end and has to have someone rescue her in the end. She just has too many fans because she was the first character that appeared on the show and manga.

Underrated:
Ishida, this guy has potential and just watch the anime to see what he can do later on in the arc.

overrated: Byakuya - yeah he is kind of cool with his cold eyes and that freaky hairstyle. (But imo he is just a stiff doctrinaire and is actions are predictable)

Overrated: Rukia. She is overly demanding to herself and to others, yet unable to provide comfort and rarely provides a shoulder to cry on.

Underrated: Soi Fon. People says that she's too emotionless ( regarding beating up Kiyone), but that's what makes her great as a soldier. Her utmost loyalty towards her mistress is remarkable too.

Just freaking because Yamamoto is "supposed" (that's right, SUPPOSED. We don't even know for sure) to be the strongest shinigami, a lot of people automatically assume him to be able to pwn just about anyone carelessly. The fact is, he doesn't even know how to spank his two top student properly.

For me it is definitely Tousen. He lost to Zaraki but that is all we have seen so far of his powers. They could have something waiting to be unveiled. Also if it were anyone but Zaraki they might have been dispatched with quickly. Zaraki is a freak that can withstand extreme physical pain so he could take a hit and grab him. If it were someone like Ichigo he would have been sliced and probably not even think of grabbing him.

Thats because Renji is the official jobber of Bleach. Is role is to be slightly weaker than Ichigo so he can lose in spectacular fashion to some enemy so that they seem more invincible and makes it more impressive when Ichigo beats them into the ground.

Anyway onto the topic at hand.
Overrated:
Rukia: Unimpressive in all ways. In combat has only managed to take down one minor villain, and it was pretty much a freebie. Has yet to do anything really notable during the entire series.

Hitsugaya: Despite the fact that he has the strongest Ice/Water type Zampaktou, he still can't manage to do anything beyond suck. Seems to be a punching bag for the rest of the cast. The only time he even seemed the least bit component (against Gin) is often discounted by fans.

Gin: Is constantly seen as one of the strongest Captains yet has never done anything truly impressive. Has yet to do anything beyond own Ichigo when he was barely VC level and push around Hitsugaya(but who can't?)

Ishida, he may be considered as a very excellent quincy but in most of the episodes he was rendered useless... Even though he was able to defeat one of the captains I really dont think that it was enough to show off his real potential...

Overrated

Zaraki kenpatchi... I really dont think that he is as good as most people think he is... Since Ichigo was able to pawn him out with Shikai i think that is enough to give me second thoughts... But anyhow a single fight cannot take away all his credits.. He was also able to kill his previous captain.. But still i think he is still overrated...

As far as underrated I think that Renji is a bit underrated, but I also think it's alot of his own fault by being too impulsive and relies a bit too much on Zabimaru, he gets his butt beat a little too often for being Byakuya's VC.

I also believe that believe it or not Kenpachi Zaraki is underrated and underabilitied if that makes sense. He's got major power more than enough to take care of alot of business but his Zanpaktou is just a metal stick for the most part he just might as well have a lead pipe to fight with.

Ishida I think is also getting the short end of the stick. He's pretty sharp at tactics and strategies but he's been rendered pretty much helpless. I keep waitng for him to get some power back or find a new avenue for his power.

Overrated I think the Captain of the 12th Squad is way overrated I think he's an egotistical babbon without a shred of common deciency I basically freakin hate this particular freak on a stick, personally that's just me.

I also think that Ichimaru Gin is overrated also he's just a pawn in a bigger game plus he's right up there with the 12th squad captain as far as attitude about others.

Really, he was dropped by shikai ichigo, and very much doubt that 'same' shikai ichigo could lay down a bankai Renji(THERE! I said it! he's outdone by a vc!) Oh yeah, Ukitake is def. the most underrated character on Bleach. Everyone assumes just because he is sick, he will lose to stronger kinds. I don't believe so. Ukitake performed brilliantly in rebelling against the overrated Yamamoto.

Overrated: I think Zarachi is a bit overrated, I mean, yeah yeah.....his riatsu is massive and deadly but his inability to effectively use his zanpakto (i mean the guy can't even use SHIKAI!!!!) *clears throat* so yeah...I feel it is sheer bloodlust that got him the rep of being the "most powerful of all of Sereitei" because, really, I think Byakuya, Ukitake maybe even Urahara could defeat him...even Ichigo just using shikai defeated him!
Underrated: Rukia! I was so surprised to read that so many find her weak and pointless! I was shocked....yet strangely I can see some reasoning behind it. Rukia up to this date has failed to have that one major, "Mother of all Battles" type of fight, thus the strong notion that she is weak and unfit for battle. To this I disagree. I feel Rukia has been hindered first by circumstances, ( her powers gone because of her transfer of them to Ichigo; in SS where she was being drained by the stone her cell was made of and her imprisonment) and secondly by Byakuya. It is said by Pyon (that's what the thing's being called, right?) that Rukia has the strength to be a seated officer but is not because her brother prohibits it in order to keep her safe.These factors combined have led to the misconception of Rukia's real importance and "usefulness." The restrictions she has been subjected to have limited her use of her power but not her power itself. I believe that she is alot stronger than what has so far been seen.

Ukitake is another, I've always thought that those whose abilities we do not get to see right off have more to them then meets the eye. There must definatly be something extraordinary about his power, come on! He was one of the first to graduate from the Shinigami Academy and become captain, and he's one of only two double bladed bankai in all of Soul Society.

Aizen: Underrated because people seem to think that he is just an uber-powerful shinigami with cheap techniques. I think we will find that he is A LOT stronger than suspected (and we're supposed to suspect high things) and a lot smarter as well. I think owning a few captains and toying with Soul Society was merely a game to him. I don't expect a cliche ending with Ichigo activation super-bankai and beating Aizen, I think something surprising will happen yet again.

Gin: Underrated because people think that he is weak ("lost" to Hitsugaya) and useless (with just an extending sword). Anyone watching the anime should be able to see that Gin is toying with Hitsugaya and mocking him by calling him great and such. Hitsugaya fully releases his shikai in the beginning, yet Gin does not release it until the very end and he uses it to his advantage. Also, Gin has a massive reiatsu as can be seen from my avatar. Finally, (this is a big secret that most people have missed in both the manga and anime) Gin was capable of stopping bankai Ichigo as he flew towards Rukia at the end of the Soul Society Arc. He mentions to Aizen that he didn't think he should interfere so he ignored the boy passing by him. That should tell you how sharp his senses and how high his level of skill really is.

Rukia: Overrated for above reasons. The most useless, over-hyped character in all of Bleach. She's basically the stereotypical "damsel in distress" who needs the powerful Ichigo to save her all the damn time. Quite annoying. Wish she was executed.

Chad: Overrated (for some) just because he is a member of the Ichigo club. Another useless character. The most useless in Ichigo's team. Ironically, based on the beginning of the anime where he was the biggest and strongest who protected everybody, he is now the weakest. He did nothing in the Soul Society Arc (except get his ass kicked), and I don't expect him to do much anytime in the near future when everyone else has super awesome abilities (I'll admit I know a little about future manga events, but I won't say here).

well chad beat up 3rd seats pretty easy and had to face shunsui
in the end, one which is underrated in my point of view, he is prolly
one of the strongest among the captains. same with ukitake his skills
are prolly on par with those of shunsui. aizen i don't know what to think
of him really - we haven't seen much captains in full strength, we are
missing several bankais, like gin's, aizens, ukitakes, shunsuis, yamamotos
urahara is underrated aswell, he seems to know a bunch about everything
that is going on and he was the only one achieving bankai in such short
time including creating his own technique. the face expression of ikkaku
speaks for itself as ichigo stated that kisuke was his "master"

as for overrated, i'd say hitsugaya is way, way too overrated. i mean
ok he's a nice little fellow but he got beaten up by aizen so bad, he
barely survived and aizen didn't even sweat by one shotting him.
byakuya is overrated aswell, he has that oh i'm so unbeatable attitude
yet he couldn't catch yoruichi carrying ichigo and he couldn't dodge
ichigo as he held his katana to his neck. it's a bit disappointing since
i expected way more from him.
komamura and tousen are aswell, 2 captains with shikai and bankai
not being able to stop zaraki is kinda embarassing. i mean tousen
released his what-do-i-know-how-many-blades upon zaraki and all
kenpachi did was laughing like a madman and pressing forward.
komamura was so dumbstruck he couldn't even land a hit on him
something a captain should not be imo.
here again those 3 are lower in skills than byakuya and still i think
he is overrated....

Zaraki isn't overrated, you guys. He matched Tousen and Komamura, both who were in Bankai. So, unless Tousen and Komamura are extremely weak, Zaraki is one badass captain. In the fillers he then slaughtered Ichinose while barely being hurt.
Now, IMO, Chad and Orihime are both overrated. They both did practically nothing during SS and Bounto arcs. Orihime can't hurt anyone.Chad got beat by a captain and two arrancar as of now. Just as it seemed Chad had gotten something awesome, he gets dropped

I don't really think there are any underrated characters. The rest of the characters pretty much fall into place.

Really? Did you miss the fact that Byakuya was still standing after the battle while Ichigo collapsed of exhaustion and blood lost? In addition, he SURVIVED Ogichi's attacks without being close to death. I don't know if you read the manga or not, but in the manga

Hmm... I don't think Komamura is strong, but if you read the manga, you'd know Tousen has gotten MUCH stronger.

Overrated: Kenpachi
He's really cool and phisically strong, but face it , he admitted to losing to shikai Ichigo. Kenpachi would be like one of the strongest people in bleach if he would learn shikai and an ability like getsuga tenshou (sp.?) that relies on pure reiatsu.

Underrated: Ichimaru Gin
All the fights he was in he was just toying around with his opponents, and he is the right hand of the (probably) most powerful character in bleach, and i also like the fact that he was the only one actually apologizing to someone when he left SS.

overrated: Aizen's "power". he may have mastered all of a shinigami's possible skills, but i doubt he is more "powerfull" compared to the rest. why else would he be so darn worried about ichigo's "potential"

I agree with Ichimaru Gin being underrated. I for one love his character and personality, and he is pretty strong too.

I think Hitsugaya and Kenpachi tops the list for being overrated.

It is very sad to say that Hitsugaya is indeed underated but I dont think that he would be on the top lists.... I think the top list for overrated is Rukia!!!!!

Anyhow... If you want to know underated chars I would say

1. Ikkaku - waaaaaayyyyyyy underated so far in the anime... (just wait for manga)

2. Tousen - He is very good in fighting but the only fighting time he got in anime was with kenpatchi... So maybe if i was not kenpatchi it would have been different.

3. Ururu... She rocks!! little girl wonder ahhahaa... few more episodes and you would know why...

Agree that Ikkaku and Ururu are kinda underrated, but totally do not agree that Rukia is overrated. ): LOL. (: Ikkaku is strong, and the anime just doesn't show the strong side yet. And Ururu, she is always bulllied by Jinta, yet she is too gentle to fight back. If Ururu loses her temper one day, Jinta's ass is gonna get kicked. (:
