You guys are disqualified.

Simply for the reason that at least one of you had access to C46 when Sandal was changing the forum's layout. That person saw the answers in the contest #38 thread. I'm not going to disclose his name, but I hope you all understand that he did a great job telling me that. I'd rather win this contest honestly than win it because we had access to the answers.

But you have to know that this is my decision as a C46 member. Not as the leader of the Espadas. Yes I know that you guys used the hints to answer the questions, but that person kinda knew what were the right answers. So even if you guys used the hints I think its unfair that you had access to the answers while others didn't it. This is not my decision alone. C46 supports this decision and is the reason why I'm carrying it out.

There's also the fact that I indirectly participated by donating the points you guys need. I specifically said that no C46 member should participate yet I did by sending those points. This is obviously argueable given that I am this team's "point keeper" of sorts so I pay for this stuff.

Anyway, try to put yourselves in the other divisions' shoes and think of this objectively not as Espada members. Regardless of what we know, people won't think of it that way and will always assume the worst.

Don't worry Ali - it wasn't your fault - it was the fault of the admins for not making sure that wouldn't happen with the permissions when they altered the usergroups. Personally, I think they should just scrap the contest, or at least make sure it doesn't count towards the divisional ladder. Especially since Ali confessed - I mean, isn't this just going to promote not confessing to stuff like this?

If I wasn't feeling guilty about being agressive towards Blitz earlier, I would argue viciously against this decision, but I guess I'll let it go this time :).

My biggest problem with this is the way its not been properly explained to people outside the loop in the contest thread. It does look like we were disqualified for cheating :lol Also, it's unfair that we were punished for someone elses mistakes, and viewing this thread anyone can see we played legit.

@ Ali - Don't feel bad man you did the right thing. We'll just have to win the next six in a row :p

edit: Also perhaps a non-smod (Ryuuken?) should hold the division points in future? So we can't be accused of playing unfairly again.

@Ali: If anything, I'm glad you did contact me about this. Its like what Neve said. Its not your fault, its the admins' fault indeed.

@Neve: Lol. Man, I know what it is that you're going to try and say. Trust me, it was no easy decision for me take either considering the work you guys did.

I'm not saying you were in the wrong, and totally agree with what you said - but now you're involved in contest creation and are the Espada leader, others may (mistakenly) think we have an unfair advantage. My suggestion was just so we don't get screwed over again.

Well Im a bit late to join this discussion but I say.. Its cool Ali.. I didnt do any work anyway.. lol.. nah. You did the right thing in letting people know saw the answers and I respect you for that. I dont hold anything against Z for his decision because it was a hard choice but I would rather be standing tall than people calling us cheaters. We did the honourable thing and withdrew and I can see that as the best option.

I apologise sincerely if I offend anyone with the following piece (etc etc - you all know me well enough to know that I don't mean any offense, and I love writing stuff like this :))

There are several reasons for which I am against the unfair disqualification of the Espadas from Contest 38.

Firstly, and primarily, none of the information was in any way used to 'cheat' on the contest. The answers of the Espadas were all obtained fairly and legally, via the system of purchasing hints (I realise that there is a minor dispute about this also, I will deal with it later. For now, work under the assumption that they were obtained fairly and legally). This means that the Espadas were not in any way advantaged from this error, and thus there should be no reason for disqualification. I stress again the point that none of the answers were used.

However, I can see that if we had used unorthadox methods to obtain classified information that could have allowed us to cheat, even if we had not used it, it could be a cause for disqualification. These are the grounds under which the administration propose to disqualify us. I cannot, therefore, iterate strongly enough that it was an administrative error that caused this. It is not through the fault of any single espada member, nor the fault of the espads as a group, we are being disqualified because the administration made a mistake. I ask you - is this fairness?

I mean, in all honesty, let us be reasonable - when a lot of forums that had previously been hidden to you open up, it would be strongly against human nature to take a look inside. After all, any normal person would believe that they had been allowed in. Of course, after a while looking around inside, they would probably realise that they weren't supposed to be seeing these forums, but by that time it might be too late - they might already have seen contest answers or similar. So say, because they were a moral person, they didn't use these answers to help their division with the current contest, as they could easily have done, but instead they report this error to the administration. The administration then make the decision that they are going to disqualify that person's entire division from the contest. I emplore you, is this fair? Is this just? And ask yourself what kind of behaviour it promotes on the forum? I'm telling you, if I ever see contest answers, I'm never going to report it to the adminstration, becasue I know that if I do, my division will be disqualified. I expect most other people who have seen this will take away a similar message.

And it was all the administration's fault! It was because they were careless in changing usergroups. Had it been anything to do with us, I would accept the decision without a doubt, but it wasn't our fault. If an administrative body in a company made a poor decision, and fired a worker for it, that worker could sue without blinking an eye. It simply can't happen. If the administration has made an error, the administration, and not those below it, should pay the price. Any alternative is grossly unfair.

Finally, the Vaizards also had access to these answers. Is it not possible that one of them got the answers? Is it not possible that they are currently sitting on a set of correct answers that were not obtained using the answers or hints, but taken from the C46 forum, but instead of being punished via disqualification they are being allowed to cheat, whilst we are being disqualified for being honest. What kind of a system is this?

I shall now conclude my arguments against the decision made to disqualify the Espadas from Contest 38. That this injustice is not only not our fault, but the fault of the administration, that not only did it not help us at all, but that this decision that discriminates against honesty, and promotes cheating and lying.

Here is the solution that I believe would be right. Not only should we be allowed to be allowed to participate in the contest, but Iraqi Ali should either be paid Vbux or given +rep for not being able to participate in the contest due to adminstrative error, and due to being honest about it. The Espadas should at the very least be given a free hint because we have the penalty of losing a valuable contributor (Iraqi Ali) to the contest. Instead, we are disqualified. Disqualified because the higher-ups made a mistake. Disqualified because we did no wrong. Disqualified because of our honesty.

I ask you again, was this disqualification fair?

A seperate issue has also arisen in this conflict - whether it was fair for a Central 46 member of the Espadas to buy us hints. It is not for me to judge whether it was fair or not, nor is it relevant to this issue. If it is decided that that was wrong, it can be solved very simply by Prof donating 3000 points to Blitz at any time. If it was not wrong, that's fine too. Due to this simple solution, this problem does not present anywhere near valid grounds for disqualification, and should therefore be considered irrelevant for the purposes of this discussion.

Thus I conclude my arguments.
