i'm from the detroit area and last year when the tigers went to the world series, the city was going crazy for them. too bad they couldn't win it all, but i hope they do well again this year.

LETS GO METS!!!
*big mets fan*
Been watching some of the spring training games on tv. I like everything but our pitching. I hope some new people shine in spring training for us to use. Although I wouldn't mind using Pelfrey/Humber if need be.

I'm peeved that DirectTV got the MLB package (well not like i can watch indians games anyways). I'm also somewhat of a mets fan since i got to see their Triple A team play (Norfolk Tides).
Go Oakland. A's are always good.. Best Small Market Team. I miss the Big Three. Go Hudson, Mulder, and Zito! Boo Bonds

I think the draft should be earlier..since having the draft after the season starts could get people rethinking who they want to draft, etc. Just something I don't feel like worrying about. lol
*will vote to change if they get enough*

ok the auto pick automatically does it based on your pre-draft list, which sounds mighty enticing right now (but we would need six votes to change that and only three have signed up :()

I had MLBtv last year....I hated it...the quality is so shitty especially if you watch it full screen..and when you want to cancel, you have to call and speak with a person, tell them your email adress and all that....its really a hassle. If you have the money and your cable provider offers it, I'd get MLB Extra Innings....I think its around $200 but its deff worth it if you are baseball fanatic whose team is out of state.

A softball isnt softer than a baseball, its just lighter...Softballs are filled with a big cork ball wraped in string and a baseball is a small red rubberish ball wrapped in alot of string.

To all of our ESPN Fantasy Baseball players,
We wanted to be sure you had the latest update on what is happening with ESPN Fantasy Baseball, and what we're in the midst of doing to get things back on track for you.
We have every resource, including our full technical team as well as additional specialized technical and quality assurance personnel, working to resolve these issues.
Based on extensive ongoing work and testing, we expect to have the problems affecting Fantasy Baseball resolved by Wednesday. It is possible that between now and then testing could reveal complications that would push the resolution to later in the week. However, we are confident in targeting Wednesday and are taking every step during that time to ensure that the solutions we provide for you will be complete and long-lasting.
While it may sound simple, the core problem lies in issues with transaction information being processed incorrectly and at incorrect times - which presents complexities as data progressively compounds.
Here's the latest on what is being done:
* We have made significant progress finding and working towards a fix for the core problems responsible for roster irregularities and incorrect waiver, free agent and other transactions.
* Due to the nature of software, thorough testing must be performed to ensure that the solutions we implement will fully resolve the issues and preserve the long-term integrity of the game.
* To do that, we have created parallels of ESPN Fantasy Baseball leagues in a development and quality assurance environment -- simulating the live game activity.
* In this environment we have been, and continue to run extensive testing of potential fixes for the core problems. There are approximately 70 different variations of our game currently in use, and we are simulating all of these.
* In parallel, we have programmers and technicians troubleshooting problems that have created scoring and standings irregularities - isolating and testing potential solutions.
Please know -- it is not just rhetoric when we say we continue to work non-stop to resolve this. We owe you the fastest, most effective and stable solution - and that is our sole focus.
We will continue to communicate with you as there are further developments, and you will hear from us again no later than Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET.
We apologize again for the frustration you've experienced and appreciate your continued patience.
You are our number one priority.
Damn the problem won't be fixed until at least Wednesday... *sigh*
and for the love of god, can the indians get a freaking game in (bloody snow ><).
Kefka
04-08-2007, 11:46 PM
I guess we should wait for them to fix the problem before picking a draft date.

Guys, with the annoying problems that ESPN is having, I suggest that we move our league to Yahoo. Personally, I prefer Yahoo much better cuz I've been using it for Fantasy sports for the past 4 years. There are experts giving analysis almost daily and the site navigation is a lot better.
the site is http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/
Semprini

may i join in the fantasy baseball league? I know i'll suck cuz i've never done fantasy sports before....i have no idea what to do, lol.
Our original league only had 6 people, which is only half of the standard 12 team league, so there's definitely space for more people.
@Semprini, do you want to create the Yahoo league or do you want me to create it?
Semprini
04-10-2007, 03:50 AM

Cassie
04-10-2007, 05:52 PM
Ok, I've just created the Yahoo league.
League ID number: 320885
League name: Club Bleach
Password: clubbleach
First of all, you'll need a Yahoo account, I think mostly everyone has, but if you don't, simply create one.
To create a team, first go to http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/, then click on the "Sign Up Now" button in the Baseball box, which should be at the starting screen of the page. After that, click on the "Join a League" link in the Baseball '07 box, which is free.
Then, click on the "Join Custom" button, you will need to enter the League ID number (320885), and the password (clubbleach). After that, simply follow the straightforward directions and create your team.
The Draft Date/Time is set at Thu Apr 12 7:00pm CDT, which is 8:00pm EST and 6:00pm PST. It can be changed by me anytime prior to the draft, so that is flexible.
A total of 12 slots are available, and the scoring type is Rotisserie, which can also be changed to Head-to-Head if we get an even number of players.
If you have any problems, please PM me and I'll address it asap.
I tried to join, but it says that the league is not registered for me...i know i am not making a mistake cuz i tried like 10 different times.

I tried to join, but it says that the league is not registered for me...i know i am not making a mistake cuz i tried like 10 different times.
I just tried it with a friend's account, and there were no problems. One thing that you might have done wrong was using the League name, and not the League ID Number. As specified, you MUST use the League ID Number (320885). If you entered the League name instead, the not registered error will show up.

Can you log into two yahoo accounts on the same comp? So that for the draft, both accounts/players can take their turns using one computer?

I've pushed the draft date back until Friday, April 13th at 9pm EST because we're still missing players from the previous league. If you can contact them, please tell them to shift over. If we get enough players fast, I can move up the draft date.
Also, please note that the 13th is the last day of live drafts for Yahoo leagues, so unless we get enough players, we wont be able to get this on the road.

lol Im glad that I was never involved with fandom of a specific baseball team. The playoffs includes way too few teams, and it'd drive me crazy if I really cared.
I think the Indians seriously lack bullpen studs, which will result in them continuing to blow leads. Carmona was a pretty good RP, and I think he even did fairly well closing a year or two ago. It's interesting to see them using him as a starter.
As for the Braves, I personally feel that they're the 3rd best team in the NL east, along with the Phillies, behind the Mets and Marlins. Although their bullpen is solid, they seriously lack starting pitchers who can go deep into the game outside of Smoltz. However, if Tim Hudson remains as good as he's been so far, it'd be an interesting fight for the division.

The Phillies aren't very good this year (for now)and we did beat the Mets and have a better record than them. Who knows what happens in the 2nd Florida game, the one today was postponed cuz of rain.

The Braves are indeed off to a good start, mostly thanks to Tim Hudson. If he keeps it up, then they'll be a lot better than most had expected. On the other hand, if he goes back to his "previous two years" self, I expect them to hover around .500.

Cuz Wickman wasn't forced to enter the game with bases loaded and no outs, kind of a hard situation for any pitcher.

Braves are killin it so far this season. Even w/o Wickman.....Hudson is lights out and their bullpen is really winning games for them. They lacked pitching alltogether last season which is weird considering the Braves have been a more pitching oriented team for the past 10-15 years. Wow seems like yesterday Andruw Jones was a rookie hittin bombs in the playoffs...I think he was 18 then...now he's 30 and has really found his swing...He still strikes out a bit but he's really improved his plate discipline. ..I remember going to a O's Braves game while drivin from Buffalo to VA...My first major league game...or maybe My second...I think I saw a Jays game when I was real young..don't remember...anyway Andruw Jones hit a bomb and also made a sick Andruw Jones type diving catch in center...IT WAS AWESOME!!!!

You're talking about the NL central here.... the wildcard is also fairly easy to obtain compared to the AL. In the MLB Playoffs, all it takes is a couple weeks of sudden dominance, as we've seen from the likes of last year's Cardinals, and the Marlins from a few years ago, so winning the World Series w/o having a very strong regular season is quite possible. Since the Cubs have a very talented team, the chances of them getting hot for a couple weeks to charge into the playoffs and another couple weeks during the playoffs shouldn't be too bad.
Semprini
05-16-2007, 02:17 AM
i don't know about that, If the Braves, Brewers and Mets keep up their pace, it's gonna be difficult for the Cubbies to make run.
Damn i miss Vizquel playing short stop...
I fully expect all 3 of the teams Semprini mentioned to win a LOT of games, i doubt the Cubs will make the playoffs...anything could happen though.
Cassie
05-16-2007, 03:23 AM
I'm not saying that the Cubs will make the playoffs, and I probably wouldn't bet on it either. But as we all should know, baseball is based on runs. A good week by one team and a bad week by another can easily even up the win/loss columns. Also, as good as the Braves, Mets, and Brewers have all been so far, saying that all of them will stay at their current pace is like going against history. Over the past few years, the NL has been notorious for having 1 division playoff slot and the wildcard slot being fairly easy to obtain in terms of wins and losses. Therefore, just as I wouldn't bet on the Cubs making the playoffs, I wouldn't bet on the Braves, Mets, and Brewers all keeping up their current pace.
Kefka
05-17-2007, 04:37 PM
I can understand saying the Brewers might not be able to keep up with the pace since they came out of nowhere, but the Braves and Mets have shown they can do it. The Mets didn't really have a rough patch last year if I recall, and the Braves don't seem like they're going to let the Mets run away with the division either.
I say:
Mets
Braves
Dodgers
Brewers
will be the NL teams that make it to the playoffs.
damn, we lost our second series...to the Nationals of all teams...

Ok, it's time to revive the thread....
Someone on ESPN.com wrote an article regarding the current situation with the NY Yankees, saying that they're really better than their record shows, as runs scored/against differentials historically tell a better story in that aspect than win/loss records.
Now, going back to a couple of weeks ago, I started an argument about how the Cubs are a contender, and that they have a decent chance of making the playoffs. Well, going by run scored/against differentials, which is a solid stat, the Cubs do have a very good possibility of getting back in the playoffs.
Since the season is still young, with the Cubs being only 7.5 games behind the NL leading NY Mets, 6.0 games behind the NL Central leading Brewers, and also 6.0 games behind the Wildcard leading Braves, let's disregard the current win/loss records for now.
With a run differential of +27, the Cubs have the third best run differential in the NL, behind only the NY Mets at +52, and the Padres at +35, and ahead of the Braves at +26, the Brewers at +21, and the Dodgers at +18.
Assuming that the run differentials remain like this, the law of averages should allow the Cubs to top the Brewers for the NL Central crown. I feel that the Cubs, if they remain at this current run differential pace, will also be able to top the Braves, as I feel that they're overachieving right now, and will cool down. This would put the Cubs as the 3rd best team in the NL.

However, it is interesting to note that Perez has pitched all 3 games that they won. He basically is keeping them from being 0-9. LOL
@stupid: I think the Cubs have a chance. They are a good team when things gel and they definitly have the potential. With the Cardinals shaky, another one from the NL Central can make it through. I doubt if the Brewers will be able to keep their pace at the front of the pack for the entire season.
