Not that I'm complaining about DB, I think they do an excellent job. I just find it strange that after all those episodes (I think they went to 70 or 80) they just stopped. I liked the Lunar font better, and I liked how they directly translated things like Shinigami and Shunpo. Sorry if this is a common question or something, just curious.

Apparentely they stopped subbing Bleach because it was licensed by Viz in America.

Yea, a lot of fansubbers stop subbing the anime once it release in the states, so that they don't take away from the sales of that anime. Sucks but well I wouldn't want to get in trouble for copy right infrignments and whatnot.

Yeah, their translations we much more accurate and didn't use slang...
After episode 70 they just stopped coming :(

I agree with Sky_Phantom.

Yeah, It depends on their location though... So their HQ was probably in the states and they probably would have been served sooner or later, You see, I don't know the location of the Dattebayo's HQ, let's keep it that way, and DB is presumably not in the states, so they can do anything they want =), You see if someone started subbing ANIME here in Canada no one would care as much, and there would be no copyright infringements, because it is very rare for anime to be dubbed here, Zoids was an exception and the sales were clearly state side.

Bleach is a terrific anime, and it'll probably continue to be successful in the U.S. But say it didn't, does that mean they would cancel the show and Lunar would be legally able to start subbing again?

Ummm, no because even if they cancled it from adult swim, the company would still have rights and they would would still release DVDs.

Yeah, so, Lunar doesn't sub and doesn't host licensed stuff. Why? Dunno.

Kinda pity though, I liked their translations a lot (still do :p). The choice of words and the quality of English-to-Japanese transit made their fansub one of the best.

DB are awesome, but Lunar is just more awesome... maybe because Lunar is like made of pros =\. Anyway further need for this thread? I think the question was answered plentily.

Did Lunar ever come out with some DVD's for sale? I can't find any on the internet, but then again I am not quite the intelligent when it comes to searching for things..

Yeah, Lunar's subs were good.

@ mateff many sub groups don't burn anime onto a CD and sell them. They just sub the anime and put it out on the internet. They do it for the love of anime not for the money.

man, and that is great! That is actually good to know. No better reason to do something then the good reason. I was just wondering since I would invest in the DVD. Just because they sell it does not have to mean they are exploiting it. The sale to me could be as a support for the work they do. But just wondering..

Yes, Lunar did indeed stop subbing when Viz picked up Bleach. Though with the time it would take to reach our current point, there is really no way Viz could claim to lose sales on it (those who want the offiicial quality will still invest), but that's that.

I'm personally sad that Lunar stopped subbing Bleach. I used to have only the DB version of 58-63 and while they are still great and very timely, now that I can compare the two with my Lunar download, I have to say that Lunar's word choice is just amazing, and really seems to make a lot more sense some of the time.

But what makes me even more sad is that Lunar's subs, because they are pretty much pro and ALSO fansubs, will make them better than any official subs. Why? Fansubs usually make the effort to explain Japanese culture points and oddities that show up, rather than changing the jokes to fit English culture and hoping we get the references the way the official ones do.
