Long strides carry Hayate across the training arena at a fast clip. Earlier today, Hayate had sent a message to his fukutaichou, stating that he should meet him at the training arena at noon on the day he received the message.

Of course, he couldn't be too sure that Yuuji would show up, since the bootlicker was constantly following Toshi around.

"I'm almost positive that Yuuji is a hentai, Hime-chan."

"Are you saying that you aren't, Hayate-kun?"

That thought rolls over a bit in Hayate's mind...is he a hentai? No, no, that would be impossible.

"No, Hime-chan, why would I be that?"

"Well, dear...you do have me as your avatar."

Hayate blushes slightly at the retort his avatar flings at him.

"Well, hentai or not, I'm waiting here for that worthless little bastard Yuuji."

Yuuji strides into the training hall, glancing left and right just in case the challenger might have prepared a surprise attack. No sooner he spots Hayate, he realizes what he's up against.

"My, my, Kobayashi-san. It was you after all. Well, then, let's get started. Captain Toshi wanted me to do something for her..."

Hayate stares Yuuji down, his zanpaku-to slung across his shoulders in his characteristic laisse-vous stance.

"So, Yuuji-fukutaichou, you came. I was beginning to wonder if you would. If you're wondering why I asked that you come, it is for this reason: I don't believe you're powerful enough to protect our captain. That's it, plain and simple. Now, shall we begin this?"

Yuuji extracts his zanpakuto and, pretending Hayate isn't there, thrusts it forward in an immaginary attack. He then draws it back, recoiled like a cobra, ready to strike.

"Kibou no Uta, Niken-Odori!"

The blade flashes, a movement so quick even the best seers would have trouble observing, and almost magically, Yuuji appears to be holding two blades.

Yuuji's attacks glance off of Hayate's skin harmlessly as Kobayashi forces his reiatsu out of his pores, forming a small shield precisely where the attack would have hit.

Hayate looks into Yuuji's eyes and makes a rather short, but meaningful statement.

"Yuuji-sama...you were defeated the moment you arrived here."

A quick leap backwards carries Hayate from the immediate striking area of his fukutaichou.

"Come, Kazehime, it is time for us to dance."

"Ikuyo no arashi, Kazehime!"

Wind blasts through the arena, and a stormcloud forms overhead as Hayate releases the goddess of his blade. In the very same motion, Hayate forces his reiatsu into his muscles, augmenting his strength exponentially.

((QRK - 30 RP. 108 RP remaining))

A quick flash of motion sends Hayate across the ring, his blade held high as he comes in for the kill. A peal of thunder resounds as Hayate's attack descends.

Hayaye's wind inforced attack completely obliterates Yuuji's so called defense. His robes are shred to pieces, and his very blade is shattered. As he tries to not lose consciousness, he utters one last sentence: "Heh, congratulations, Kobayashi-san."

Kobayashi "Wasureppoi" Hayate is hereby granted the rank of Vice Captain of the 13th division.

Hayate stands over Yuuji as he lays there bleeding, and mostly dead.

"Yuuji-kun. As your fukutaichou, I have an order for you. Stay on in the headquarters. Serve your master, Toshi Mikimo. It will be your lot in life to look after her personal matters. I, however, will be her strong arm in the times of danger. That is the role of the fukutaichou."

Hayate bends over and takes the sash of the fukutaichou from Kaminori's arm and ties it onto his own bare arm.

"I will inform the arena medics that their services are required. Once your injuries are healed, I expect to see you performing your duties back at the Headquarters. Farewell, Yuu-kun."

Hayate strides out of the arena and back to the Headquarters, where he promptly packs up his things and moves them into the fukutaichou's quarters. As a polite man, he packs Yuuji's things up and moves them into his old quarters. Things may be strained between him and Kaminori for a while, so any kindnesses Hayate can show will most likely aid in patching the gap.

"Well, Kazehime, I believe this is our first step up in the world."
