Goth culture to be blamed for school shootings...hip hop responbile for the "baggy pants disease" is just a few of the many stereotypes out there for awhile. Most of this stuff is tragic yet fasinating to the impressionable eye.Looking back on when i was a "compton gangster" in high school still puzzles me//there are things that we dont want to completely avoid because of social reasons,so wanting to be involved a little bit woudnt hurt. right?? a few months back my mother took away a gory fighting game (MK armageddon)from my little brother because she said he was "fighting some1while sleeping"(HE CANT SEE HOLLOWS SO DONT GO THERE:Haha) and the answer he had for me was "i cant control what im doing while im sleeping"
i guess what im trying to say EDUCATION IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN AWARENESS.// im very interested to here some of your stories so plz do lve me something big//
here is a story... there is alot of factors that need to work hand in hand
to make people do stupid things. i'm not talking about a little rambling at
school.
i've played violent games since i was like 12, it all started with the old school
DOOM and DUKE NUKEM, went on to other violent games like Soldier of Fortune
and various other titles. i had alot of freedom what kind of games i play. i never
really had any restrictions. however i never harmed someone intentionally or
because of fun. i'm everything else but a violent person, i think i can say i'm
calm and level headed and hardly get angry.
media blames games and movies and claim that if you are exposed to it for too
long you end up shooting people - i own both, violent games and a gun. am i a rare
exception that isn't going rampage? no. i'm not. i live in a social stable envoirement,
i learned how to handle stress and i have people i can talk to and listen to me if i
need them.
EDUCATION IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN AWARENESS
true, children need to learn how to react to stress and how to solve problems.
parents need to play an active part. it's their responsibility.

I'm sorry to say, it's not the goths. Goths actually go against their own views since gothic times were the celebration of life. Not, like the popular belief goths have to look sad and feel sad. Those people are not goth. Their that hated emo kids, that everyone can agree need a kick in the head, then the box/nuts.
So no, goths can not be blamed, emo kids are.

Then you blame sterotypes, which is in my humble opinion senseless. People depend on their livings and happenings to base their reasoning. And society has thaught us to hide our feelings, to repress our ways of being and hide it from everyone else. What happens is that a repressive environment will lead to accumulate hatred and pain, leading towards an unstoppable point when the people just explode, releasing all of their anger in a concentreted and short period of time, shit happens! Those who are able to get their hands on bigger agressive weapons will go for them.

I hope your not picking up for the emos. It's the only sterotype that is universal(since the word emo describes a person, and if your described that way you already prove the sterotype true) I have nothing wrong with goths. Actually i'm gothic, I celebrate my life everyday. Wait a miniute... Darn 90% of people are gothic then. Damn.
No one, has the right to take the life of another. You do not have the right to then take life as revenge or equality. Death is not equal if someone kills someone. My view is make them suffer in jail for a long period of time to make amends for the death they caused. Why kill them and let the pain they have go away? Two wrongs never make a right.
No one in North America has the right to kill another person. Although where I live we have only 256 averaged out murders a year(Canada) it comes out to around 100 a year, but for countries like Canada they have to avergae it out as to say, if Canada had 100 million(which is the number used for murders I think) it would be 256. America has 11,250 average a year. Why? America is a first world country, even the poorest poverty stricken people should be happy. They have it bad, I agree. When they try to compare theirselves to a thrid world country poverty however I hope they give up because those people are the ones who go through suffering. Most of these shootings happen well, immature emos. Massive depressives who never seek help also cause these problems. Sure we have them everywhere I am not saying America has more. However when you get 17 and are able to buy a gun, no less a hand gun and legally conceal it(in some states) you get these emos being able to get the guns. Then, one goes through with it. Nothing wrong with guns, however when you have say, everyone can buy guns anytime they want when their 17, and say 1/1000 people are emo enough to go through with it. You have a problem. Also not hard to get guns otherwise if you can not legally buy them.

You say that it is never right to kill someone, even someone who has killed. But the only reason you give is that the constant pain they feel for doing the murder will go away once they are dead.
But who's to say that they are in pain for their murder? What about the murderers who get away and are never caught? The ones that feel no wrong about the murder they committed? Some of these people will keep on killing, whether it be innocent people or people who they are jailed with. Shouldn't people like this be killed?

I think this is really more simple than it looks. Take a person, almost any person at a certain age. Now put them through enough hell to where they decide to fight back but have no real venue to fight back with. Guns are so easy to get it makes gun laws rediculous, the local school in my area had a circa 1960's .25 picked up from a kid, he brought it in response to getting rather torn up in a fight against maybe 3-4 people who were all bigger than him.
I think people should stand for themselves, but also for those who obviously can not handle things on their own.
Target the real source, those who define life by tormenting those weaker even if they (heaven forbid) be the jocks, preps goths emo who cares.
I find it funny to tell kids to be happy with their crap lives, to endure that abuse so football player X can feel like he had an accomplishment during his life before the age of 19 and was no longer on a first name basis with every teacher in the county.
As a disclaimer - I know I used sterotypes and all sorts of things I don't like myself, however I lack the ability to describe things as I feel them, plenty of football players end up being successful non-homocidal adults, just not a good percentage from my corner of small town life.

That is just part of life, and I think atleast the kids in north america have pretty good lives if their only problem is being bullyed at school.
Oh wait, I guess he rather be starving and povetry stricken or maybe forced to fight in a childs millita where all they give the kid is a rifle at 6 years old, but GOD FORBID he be called names at school where he has food, water, getting a good education and everything.
I'm not saying its ok for kids to be bullied or anything, they shouldn't and it depends on the degree and the effect it is having on the kid.
All I'm trying to say is sometimes we forget how good we have it, and looking on the brighter sides of things can make enduring the small problems we have even easier and not as hard.

Thats the catch, not knowing what makes people tick. Some people won't kill under any circumstance, ever. Some kill for less reasons than being called rude things. All of this falls under things few of us would consider, though if someone were willing to open fire in a school, rational thought is skewed at best.
What I'm getting at more or less is that many of them are not seeing that they have it better, that none of the positive influences on their life matters. With people like these taking even basic ideals for granted isn't plausible.
This is the most literal description of my idea - removal of needless triggering stimulus to an already set weapon. It's impossible to really defuse it, unless everyone had a normal line of thought/lifestyle.

It's not guilt. We can all agree they suffer in jail. Just killing them after say a year in prison makes no sense since their pain goes away and their eixstence goes blank. These people have a chance to change. People who don't feel bad about killing are the people who are usually massive depressives. Even serial killers feel some level of guilt, but they tend to ignore it to fill their desires. Heck I bet massive depressives even feel guilt on some degree. However, people with selfish desires will never give in to guilt i'm afraid. They do feel it, a lot of the times they say they don't though. You know, you can request now in a lot of states and in most of Canada to have the person your jailed with moved, or have a jail cell to yourself. That fixes the killing problem. Being in jail is just another punishment, be it the threat of dying, or just the overall experience.
Who said endure the life? Any time someone tried picking on me I agreed with them. Usually worked with mental stuff and they just stoped because they knew it was not bothering me. Physical? Well if anyone hit me their getting it back a lot worse. Who cares about pain? It's just a feeling, don't be scared to fight back. The threat, and beign scared of pain is more painful then the pain itself. Your just feeding and making it worse. I never said be happy with your "crap" life. I said look on the bright side, you don't have it that bad. People have it worse, your just being taking it to far.
Although myself I do not live in USA. I can not speak for them, however no one really gets picked on in Canada. Most people are nice, some assholes but they fall pretty fast. Still fighting back works all the time. As for emos, go to the principal and tell him/her about the massive depressive, throw in a few death threats he might or might not of said. Might seem mean, I did it a few times and their not emo any more. They had help, well most of them anyway.
Someone with problems, especially all their life will not look for help. They think their normal. Same with massive depressives, it's your job to help. Jocks being to much dicks? Easy enough to fix kick him in the nuts if you don't have the power to overpower him. It's not hard, you might get beat up afterwords by him and his friends, I bet he won't touch you again though after the revenge. If he even went through with revenge that is.

No one culture is to blame for school shootings, although certain teenage cultural things can exacerbate the depression, sorrow, anger, and hatred that lead to shootings (like being surrounded by music and images of violence and death). The only person to blame is the individual. These people are unable to cope with the surge of negative emotions, years of abuse (psychological or future), and pace of life and they inevitably "blow a gasket." It can happen to anyone, but most people have enough self-control to only think their evil thoughts and not to carry them over into actions. Schools and the educational system cannot be blamed though. School districts usually have very little money and dedicating that to "security" is controversial, expensive, and full of problems (nearly every security method can be subverted in some way or has a loophole). There is one thing that might improve the situation though, a cultural catharsis! Purging the world of people like bullies, who instill the hatred into many shooters, and a culture of death (death metal, videos of suicides and deaths, violent pornography and television, etc) would definitely help, and ridding the world of the inadequate and unmotivational school system would help as well ;). No schools, no school shootings.

I play incredibaly violent games "!!!!Manhunt!!!!" and i belive they have absolutly no affecto on me. If anything they help relive stress. Especialy MMORPGs or Multiplayer FPSs. It has lead me to many intrests aswell such as iaido etc. I belive not only this but also in films which get alot of stick for this stuff. If your mentaly unstable and are liable to do this stuff then Theres a point but for your avaredge jo there is no reason atall to blame games:Domo

ME ME ME! you prove a point I'm about to make.
teens in general are self centered and can barely notice whats occurring around them to others, most teens know nothing about what their parents are going through day to day unless it somehow directly impacts their lives.
they rarely know anything about their teachers unless its somehow important to their needs to.
look closely at the post above^ they quickly dismiss how something violent can affect others as long as they haven't shot up a class room themselves.
ME ME ME! if I don't go off the deep end it can't possibly have any affect on others, look at north american or first world posts by teens about poverty or sweat shops they can't grasp that it means to die they picture how not having enough to live their lives would be like not having the next designer clothes or for the more enlightened somewhere to live but they can't grasp making 3$ a month and having to live at a dump simply to be able to eat scraps they have to dig out of tons of garbage while competing with hundreds of others doing the same thing.
they can't grasp things like being recruited to kill at the age of 6-7 then only knowing war and murder for their entire usually very short lives or being sold off because their parents can't afford to feed them and then being hauled off to become child prostitutes and suffering beatings and rape for the majority of their lives till they either die or get old enough to not be worth keeping.
look at 9/11 2500ish dead by the reaction you'd think the entire US had died well I've Investigated towns where the death toll was 5 times that and it wasn't just one town it was hundreds of towns and entire cities had an entire race being obliterated in them that was Rwanda in 94
its typical of teens to not see beyond themselves for the vast majority and thats the nature of being a teen its not something thats likely to change much it hasn't in thousands of years.
this doesn't mean they don't care or are jaded ...etc... its simply how teens are and yes puberty has a lot to do with it.
if you disagree:
try this on for size, imagine yourself in only the clothes your currently wearing tossed into the nearest large forest at least 100 miles in any direction and thats all you have NO one will come get you! you don't have supplies or shelter unless you make something from scratch and you'll be there the rest of your life how ever long you last that is. don't forget there are no hospitals if you get sick or injured and anyone you meet is likely to be in the same situation so they wont bail you out.
if you can actually see just how that would be your a little closer to knowing how hard the unfortunate have it except they wouldn't have the luxury of a forest to live off of.
