I guess Microsoft figured if Sony can sell a system for $600, then they have a good chance at selling one for $479.

The only things different on the 360 Elite is that it's black, has a 120 GB Hard-Drive and has HDMI output. Now if I already owned a 360 I'd say that that wasn't worth the upgrade, but even still, since I don't own a 360 yet, I still don't see myself needing that version. The Hard-Drive and the fact that it's black are the only reason I'd get it, but the price is not something I'm willing to pay for yet.

Yeah Iv known about this and Im a little pissed that thier upgrading all thier stuff and they wont give it t people who already got 1 with out charging a some bucks. But hey, 120 GB of space is good. And black is tight But Ill just go buy the plates & HD for that. Its still cheaper than ps3 :D

It's supposed to have a 65mm processor or something 65mm anyway... and extra cooled aswell.

But that 120gb HDD sure sounds appealing! Although I already bought a 360 for my birthday (Which was on the 28th March hell yeah!)

I might buy a 60gb HDD because I'm nearly out of space xD

Hmm lets see i'm a little pissed that i only of the so called "premium" version :whatevah:.
If it truly was an upgrade i'd consider it, but all it is 360 painted in black that has a much bigger harddrive...

Its been announced that its true and commin out at the end of april i think.

I'd only get it cus its quieter and for the HD, other than that its not worth buying...

Donut

It's not quieter. I won't be quieter until this fall, when they change to 65nm chips, I think. And they'll change around this fall.

The black looks cool, but I dont think its worth it if you alraedy have a 360.

The black one looks awesome.
Like the first one did.

Now, if they just add some more weight to it, and you might be able to kill someone with your Xbox again....

personally i think it's a slap in the fact for those already owning the premium bundle, but then again it all boils down to whether premium bundle owners WANT those types of upgrades to begin with.

this is good for anyone who doesn't own a 360 at all though. if i'm not mistaken the 120gb add-on alone is $200 i think......including HDMI output....it's a steal.

I already owned a system before this came out...about two months later after I bought my 360. If this was around before I would've bought it, now i'm pissed I missed out on 100 GB HDD, HDMI and new processor for 80 bucks....gay

It looks nice, but the 360 Elite doesn't support HDMI 1.3, DD+, TrueHD or 5.1 PCM. More information can be found about that HERE (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10176889&&#post10176889). I'd have rather paid a little more and had built in HD-DVD capabilities, a little disappointing really.

Also I assumed this model would come with the 65nm chips but apprently it won't, they'll be in the revised Premium model at the end of autumn. It will however, have a quieter and more efficient cooling fan. Microsoft plans to release the Elite in limited quantities to judge consumer reaction, and possibly bump up all Premium models to the same specification by 2008 (which i where the white Premium rumour probably came from).

Actually, there is no difference in hardware except the HDD and HDMI port. There is nothing else changed and it won't have the 65nm chips. So basically its the same 360 with an overpriced 120 HDD, in which I believe Microsoft should charge lower for, and an HDMI port (even though HDMI > component), it just makes people question Microsoft on the current competition with the PS3.

if you where to ad the HDDVD component for the 360 wouldn't it actually cost more than the PS3...
bleh whatever, i'll just buy some black paint and paint my 360 black

i heard differently about that.......i think i heard from gamespot that elites would NOT be limited edition.......instead will be available just as commonly as basic/premium is now.

The Elite will be a permanent addition to the Xbox 360 lineup, not a limited-edition offering as rumors have speculated.

Tushay! Seems I was a few days behind the curve :winking56 My point on the specs still holds true though, which is a little annoying as the PS3 supports these features (though for now I'd prefer a 360 due to a more appealing games library).

point taken. the ps3 is still WAAAAAAAAAAY too early in it's life cycle to have anything good coming out for it. it's kind of a letdown that games are apparently harder to develop for for the ps3, but it's a matter of time before we're able to see the full extent of it's capabilities. DMC4 is already looking pretty sweet, VF5 is already getting rave reviews, we've yet to see more of FF13 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. but again it's a matter of time.

i've yet to buy a next-gen system at all........both 360 and ps3 are out of reach at this point. i can afford a Wii, but it's a whole different matter of being able to obtain one to begin with LOL.

btw, does anyone know what the hell is up with the folks working on Killzone 2?

To be honest, HDMI is kind of unnecessary. VGA will do just as fine, the difference is minimal. I'm willing to bet that you can't even tell the difference, unless you have like a 120 inch HDTV or something...

A couple developers have actually stated "Anyone saying the PS3 is hard to develope is either lazy or lacking in motivation to push gaming consoles to the limit" in which is sort of true. It isn't too hard to develope, its just harder to develope than the 360 which is computer based.

Also, its HDMI and component and VGA and DVI.

well getting back on topic........as far bang-for-the-buck is concerned, it seems the xbox 360 elite is a good deal...even for someone who doesn't need those features. i could see myself buying one if i had the money for it. my hdtv is universally capable as far as video inputs go so that's one less thing to worry about.

The only nice thing about elite is the color... black is still the best color for xboxes
but elite's features are worse than the original one

I'll prop pick one up when they start making them with 65nm chips, it'll go well with the hdtv im planning on getting vcery soon(just waiting for my pay check)
then i'll have 2 360's

Why would you need 2 360's? If you going to buy the elite just for the HDMI and the larger HDD, to tell the truth, a HDD as large as 120 is not really needed and $480 is not worth it just for that and the HDMI port. If I must say, stick with component.

I can waste my money however i want to.
And i won't just be buying it for the hdmi and hdd and be getting it for the quieter drive and cooler running machine, thats why im not running out and buying it when its released.

Pfft.
We all know Premium is the standard for the Xbox 360. Buying the basic or whatever it's called, is a plain bad deal.

Why not. Plus System link ups on various games is a hell of a time.

But then you need two tv:s in the same room õ_o

Tobi

So get two TVs then, I'm sure most people have more than one TV in their house.

most people aren't that rich. sure it's possible to play on cheaper SDTV's, but ideally said person would need to buy an HDTV to really enjoy it.

But the point of having two of 'em is to be able to watch in two different rooms!

No, but I got 10 kilo TV's, and a two floored house.
Your plan require money. Which not everyone has.
