Google browser

I heard a rumor that google was going to be making a browser. I have been searching the net for it but have been unable to find any information about it. If you have any information you can put it here

Yes the google browser does exist, or so many hints have been saying, how do people know gather this conclusion?, i will let you know, everytime you go to a website it logs some information about you, and a part of that information is your browser, this allows webmasters to optimize their websites for the browser they get the most hits from and ect., Now in very low numbers, not all websites but mainly tech sites have shown a very small percentage in useragents for google, and a useragent is what tells the webmaster your browser type and version with a special code such as "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4" of which tells the webmaster that my browser is in the family of firefox, opera, ie, and so on. Now some people are seeing Google in their logs, not a search engine, not a query, not robots eithers, but actual browsers being that they are listed as "Google 0.X", 0.X is the version number of the beta software, now while there still is a chance it could be the google bot, that is a very very low chance because the google bot is in at least version 2.1. Another clue is that even though gbrowser.com does not exist it has been registered by google, of which could mean something is comming or it is just a reserved name just in case, being that many companies and just ordanary webmasters do tend to do so. Now also the lead engineer of firefox, Ben Goodger, is now working for google, in January '05 he wrote

"While I will be spending more time at Google, I will work out of the Mozilla Foundation offices regularly as the need arises."

And last being that the competition has been heating up between google and microsoft in making email, desktop, and search software it is very likely that instead of just a toolbar for IE google is actualy creating their own browser and get into the web browser market.

would you not think that they would patent all names that they might use in the future though? I mean bit rubbish if someone came up with a company called g that made browsers, i knwo they would have to be really unlucky, but it could happen :P

well the main part is that people are getting hits from a Google 0.X, meaning that they are getting visited by a google browser of which is still in very very early stages and probably being tested by a select group of people who may not even be outside of google itsself

I dunno, Google is cooperating with the mozilla Foundation, isn't it? I mean, the firefox.Start page is just a modified version of Google home page. So, I don't think they'll be making their own browser.

If you search on the web a lot of people think it is a good idea but i have found noone that claims that it is really there.

I believe that they are making G Broswer because not only is the name copyrighted but I am a webmaster and I've got hits from a broswer name GBroswer 1.0.x so I would have to agree SumpfFuchs.

hehe, google browser, google OS.............

well, google has just released the google talk program, which isn't too but, but just overly simple. so i guess google can make anything they want. I dont' think google should make OS tho. If they gonna charge it, prob ppl would still stick with Windows coz of the compatibility of softwares, but if google's gonna make it open source, people would use Linux (e.g. ubuntu), because linux is much more better developed....so i don't suggest google create a OS, waste of time...... I don't see what's so bad about windows anywayz:P

and also, browsing issue, well, if google create a browser, i would sure to try it out. but it's not gonna be much diff from the ones i use now (firefox and opera) which all very good indeed. so yeah.. just my 2 cents
