i know, yeah it's a cat, but what can you do to help when your beloved pet died? My cat, Leroy, just recently being hit by a cat, and left on the road to rot. My friend, who was looking after leroy till i was allowed to, told me this today, and she didn't even know till her aunty told her. Even her mum didn't tell her.

But can pets help you grow up? i believe so.

I'm sorry to hear that Kia.

My dog (world's most badass collie..) died not too long ago, although that was atleast out of old age... It was horrible, so I can understand how you feel.

I'm sorry.

*hugs Kia* Sorry hun. I know how it feels to lose a valuable pet. I've lost two in my lifetime. One from old age and one from hypothermia. Pets can help you grow up, because they let you see a part of yourself and prepares you for the inevitable when it comes.

I love pets. I feel sad when they died. I had dogs when I was a kid. They all died. When my family and I moved here in Montreal, my sister bought two budgies. MY mom doesn't like dogs - so, she has no choice (neither do I). I have the link here where I can show you (the one of the birds) how good she was. She died two years ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMa50ZIjRAI

That was the part 2 of the clip. I lost the part 1 unfortunately. And...in case you're wondering whose voice is it on the background, that was me.

After the birds died, my sister bought a lot of goldfish. Only two of them survived.

Aw, that's a terrible shame Kia. =/

I can't say I would know what it's like to lose a pet; however a very close friend of mine's dog, who was a person among the familly, dissapeared a year and a half ago. He wasn't the type of dog to get lost, since he knew the entire town due to being loose on the streets at night.

But one night he went out and never came back. To this day we still think someone stole him. >_>

Smile, and you'll be fine. ^_^

well first of all sorry kia it is hard when your pet dies my pet bird i had had for 5 years died when i was 6 it can be hard what find helps is first of all try and close your self of from anyone exempt close friends and try to take down all pictures you have if you have a scanner just scan them on to your computer then shred them this can be painful so nothing is around you reminds you of him then just wait if you just kinda ask your friends not to talk about Levon and act like normal things just kinda go away and then after a month or so print out the pictures you shredded and you still have memories then get a new cat

I suppose the loss of a pet could be considered part of the growing up process, since for alot of people, that is the first taste of death and the grieving process they encounter.

It always hurts more when a loved one, be they pet or person, is killed in a violent, unnatural manner than when they live out their lives and die of old age...

Having a pet as a child taught me a lot of responsibility. My mom made sure I took care of it. I've lost a cat as well, a few years back. It was heart breaking.

Sorry you lost your buddy. May he have all the cat nip he wants in kitty heaven.

TT^TT My beloved cat Greywolf died a lonngggg~ time ago TT^TT

(R I P Greywolf and Leroy TT^TT)

Pets accompany you wherever you are if your parents are mostly busy. If a pet die, and you have a heart, you'll be devastated.. LIKE ME!!

Yeah pets are like children of a different race :P

But yeah it really teaches early lessons bout responsibilities, love and company when everyone is busy and also loss (if they die)

having said that i had a couple die, but the most memorable one was when my mom bought me a pet duckling for a grade 3 pet show and tell and like a day after it stopped moving and i was moving its head to see if its sleeping or not.

Sad funeral because it was in the garbage bin :(

NO! You shouldn't actually. Eventually, pets/animals deserve their own respect like us humans. If a pet die, then be prepared to touch the soil. Bury them because they come from the Earth. Rubbish Bin = No no. No respect - -
And ya, to keep a pet you must hold a lot of responsibilities.

:( sadly, i have witnessed alot of animal deaths, the same sibling of leroy, she jumped over the fence, got ripped to shreds. God, the blue moon litter is full of bad luck, but (i think it was) pancakes? yeah, she managed to crawl over to her house, and died on the background, her mum didn't let her touch it, and it had maggots. Hence, it went in the bin, I mean, i had 2 fishes, calvin and calvin junior (yeah, i just loved the name calvin) and they got buried under the tree across the road.

Yoshi= sadly, i'm not allowed to view youtube, but i know it's full of love <3

it's really a sad thing that your pets die...

i remember i have two hamsters when i was only 12 years old...they died after i bought them 5 years ago..i had a lot of good time with them..lol i used to wash them with johnson shampoo and use a hair dryer...lol they look like they were in the 70s with that big hair..

when both of them died i cried a lot and couldn't go to the school and i was telling myself: how could this happen? they're supposed to live with me until i die..

i realized after that no one will stay with you until the end of your life..sometimes...you lose close people who you think they will be with you for a long time , but they will go away someday.

that's what i have learned from them.

I used to have two goldfish. They both died because when we moved into a new house, they must've called terminix or something, because when we changed the water for the bowl, the fish both died in it.

I dug a grave for them both in my backyard, and it's still there.

I've felt like a different person since my dog Mojo died back last November 26th.... She was my best friend and true pal, nothing will ever replace her in my heart, or mend the hole her death left.

Got her xmas '93 when I was 2 (almost 3, bday 2 weeks after xmas :P ) when she was a little puppy. We spent nearly our entire lives together, so of course life without her doesn't feel right. Been through alot together ;_; She had heartworms and a poisonous snakebite to the face all in the same year once (she was 3-4 when this happened i beleived) and she amazingly lived to be 13 years old, for a Lab and that happening to her, thats really rare. She protected me when I was little, from dangers like falling into the tank (she'd literally herd me back up the hill xD) or getting between me and someone getting onto me and growling xD (yeah, if I sounded upset, she'd be getting on the case xD)

I love Mojo more then anything else in the world, and in spirit she'll never be dead to me. I've had other pets die in the past, but I was with them for such a short time, none of their death's empacts on me were no where close to Mojo's, despite how much I loved them too. Aside from Mojo, I think I only shed a tear over one of them, and it was no where near the amount of tears I shed and still shed over Mojo.

I hope that if I get into Heaven, she'll be there and we'll never be apart again. Neither of us were truely happy when the other one wasn't there, so I don't feel she's that happy where she is now either. She didn't want to die, she didn't go peacefuly or cooperate when she learned that it was her time, she fought it till the very end. Mo tried to stand up and follow me in her last moments of life, I hate that I had to go to bible class that morning, but I'm so thankful that we left church after that since me and my grandpa were going to my house so he could fix some things. If I hadn't left, I wouldn't have been able to be with her in the last minutes of her life nor when she did finally die. I was also lucky that that past week was my Thanksgiving break. I got to spend her entire last week with her, again that was very very fortunate.

Again if I do get into heaven I hope she is there. Though I've heard animals don't exactly go to heaven, it doesn't make sense. Its suppose to be paradise; absolute perfection. It would be no where near perfect without Mojo there.

Even now I'm tearing up typing this xD I really miss Mojo, "miss" doesn't even begin to cover it really....

I had 2 favorite pets when I was still a kid... =/
Once I had this (goldfish?) small fishy once... he was like Nemo coz his fin wasn't of the same size... and his scales were already shedding... I prayed everyday in front of the aquarium... wishing he'd live longer... then one morning he was just floating in the aquarium... I cried then prayed that he'll go to Fish Heaven (I was still a kid back then >_>'')

then we had a small little dog.... his name was Bulldog... he's not really a bulldog.. but we named him that coz he's really fluffy and small... :)
we'd always take care of him... and he was also loved by my family... one day he went missing and then we heard from a neighbor that he was dead... he drowned in a canal coz it was raining really hard and we couldn't find him anywhere at that time... ;_;

@Arei: I admire your spirit... :)
*hugs*

Help you grow up? I don't know.. but they can be a big part of your life.

My cat, Lizzie, died months ago, she wasn't even a year.. but I was sooo upset about it, I still can't talk about it IRL because I will cry :/ but she really meant alot to me. She had a desease, like HIV, but it's called VIP in the cat world.

I had this beautiful rabbit which I named Calibra, she was a champion swimmer, never known a rabbit to swim like her. Each time she got out of her cage she would go to the pool in hopes that one of us were there to swim with her.Oneday I went to take her out for her usuall swim and she was just lying there, just keeled over while I was out that day, she wasn't even three years old yet! She could have lived till about 8!

The other was also a rabbit, Oscar, he was a miniture rabbit, they don't live longer than 6 years max! He lived for 8 years and my parents had him put down while I was away on holiday he had suffered one too many strokes, he was like the little brother I never had. It was that day my friends saw me cry before them.

I had 1 dog that died on me and all I could say was it was hard for me to bury her at
all. I spent most of my time with my dog when I was young and I would say I treated
her as my siblings. I dont have siblings so yeah.. it made me responsible to take care
of her.

I also took in a kitty. It was stormy and I took her in but she died after 3 dats staying
with me I couldnt forgive myself...

It was sad that they died but I had to let go and let them rest but I will always remember
them.

Oh, I'm sorry Kia, that's so devastating to lose something you love

I recently lost my pet Rabbit Hamish-James.

Our theory was they (Hamish and Little Lamb[Xiao Yang]) escaped and Hamish got hit by a car

My dad's mate found them and called my mum out
My mum took Hamish back and laid him on the front lawn so she could bury him, but she had to attend to my two little sisters for school first

Apparently, Little Lamb (Xiao Yang) stayed with Hamish all night, nudging him >_<

I heard the news that morning, I was silent the whole mornining and left for Uni very early, I tried my hardest not to look at him... but I saw him lying still and stuff.. BAWLED my eyes out on the walk to the train station (20 mins walk)

I miss Hamish so much

and two days later, Little Lamb (Xiao Yang) got stolen from the hutch.. why would anyone wanna steal a rabbit? :'<

Mum was very pissed and so was I

Your pets are the ones that listen and will cuddle with you when you're down and in need, they are the best things anyone could ever have or love

we had a rabbit, but the neighbor ate him ;-;
then we had birds, the males ate the babies and got ill and died, then the females died o.O
then we had frogs, they escaped from where we kept them and turned up dead behind the sofa a few weeks later.
then we had fish, they went a tad crazy and killed each other then died.
then i had some more fish but forgot to feed them and they ate each other :/
now i have another dog and he is doing well so far :D

Wow thats really unlucky.Maybe you should give up on having pets, if you carry on you could probably single-handedly wipe out all animal life on the planet.
