If you haven't read monster, then you need to get your head out of the mindless shounen energy blasts and obscure yaoi scenes and read this!

Hands down, this is one the best manga ever written. Truly an example of substance over matter. It spans an epic 18 volumes and was also adapted into a 74 episode anime. Not only that, but like Death Note it is also being adapted into a movie! Here is the basic premise of it all:
"Doctor Tenma Kenzou is one of the best brain surgeons in the world. But one day he decides to perform surgery on a 10 year old over the City’s Mayor. After saving the boy, the Director of the Hospital and the Doctors that worked in the Mayor show up dead in the hospital, and the boy who Dr. Tenma saved is missing, along with his twin sister. 9 years later a patient of Dr. Tenma is murder and the cops place him as the main suspect, but Dr. Tenma knows who did it; the boy he saved 9 years ago, he revived a Monster then and he must kill the Monster now, before more murders occur. - summary by Dtortot."

Whoa...someone else has heard about Monster? I am currently reading the manga and it's absolutely brilliant. It has all the stuff that i like and doesn't have any elements i don't like. It just shows that story and characters will beat mindless action every time.

Ya this is one of my all time favorites. Its been around for a while so I'm sure there are a lot of people who have read it. Love the whole story line. It has so many unexpected twists and it's one of those that make you really think! Especially good since I am German :)

Haven't watched the anime but if you want a manga close to it 20th Century Boys is a prime example ( Believe its made by the same Mangaka .. ).

Recommended To Anyone who wants a good thriller!

I've read 20th Century Boys which is one of my favorite manga ever so I'm sure this one is just as good. It sounds really interesting

20th century Boys and Monster are both masterpieces, imo. The mangaka truly is great.
