I have knowledge of hacking. Since I study informatics, I need to know hacking to some exent in order to protect networks from them. And it proves rather usefull when fixing some problems.
(I'm not doing anything bad with it: "Use power for the right things".)

I'm totally with the guy above. While hacking like the kind being used against Bleachportal is bad, it can be used for both interesting and good purposes as well. Hacking is not done only to destroy, but sometimes to protect. Not to mention, sometimes you can't normally access important things without that... knowledge. I have a small bit of knowledge on the matter, and I would NEVER EVER use that knowledge to harm a website or a person.
...That time when my teacher told us to make viruses doesn't count... :eek13:
...The horror...
Anyway, I hope the hacker gives up. I don't see why anyone would feel the need to mess around with this site. Good luck with all of that.

I totally envy hackers, be them bad or good. I need to learn what and how they do that.

Get in to programming and web design. You might begin to understand at that point. Believe me, a few years ago... I knew a bit about computers... but NOT NEARLY as much as I do now; and even then, there is still much more to learn. From an engineering standpoint, there are many methods of "hacking". In many ways you can screw up a lot of things just by simply editing or switching around some parts of the source code in just about anything. When programming, if you do it REALLY wrong, you could cause disastrous problems on the computer you execute the program on. In the most basic sense, a "virus" can be seen as a program written purposely with flaws so that it causes problems with your computer, network, etc.
Hmmm... it is nice and all to know. Just... don't go to the dark side. :madfire:

remind me not to piss u off :p
Well in the end people who know how to hack i have a certain aww in because people who know how to break through fire walls through countless methods is pretty interesting. I mean yeah it pisses everyone off and no one likes hackers (besides other hackers) I mean i respect them even that is basically like respecting criminal acts, but then again i also respects people who can steal things now adays without leaving a trace. (yeah i know i am going striaght to hell hahaha)

You see that's wrong... Hacking itself isn't a criminal act. Some lazy ass journalist called it Hacking back then and now every "Hacker" has a bad reputation. While in reality there is a diffirence: Hackers are people who have the knowledge of viruswriting and hacks. Most of the time, if they are involved in actual hacking of internet sites, this is a purely challenge-based thing. A hacker won't hack Bleachportal for example, because it's no challenge. Hackers also leave no damage, they just make a note, a signature so to speak, to make clear they archieved a hack.
On the other hand there are also "Crackers". These are the evil kind of hackers we all know about. Yet no one calls them by that name. These people have the knowledge of hacking, but actually use it to destroy. And most crackers even have fun doing that.
It's like people who step on kids toys and laugh with the kids reaction.
So mind what you actually mean when you say the word Hacker.
There is a very high chance that the person attacking Bleachportal is a cracker, and he won't give up.
There is no reason why people should hate hackers... It's a legitimized profession. (I learned that from the Belgian computer protection association. They hack for a living.)
(When you study informatics, hacking is included in your studies. We programmed a virus in C++ that was capable of destroying processer units bt accident. We no longer are able to reproduce it though... Since the pc we created it on is completely destroyed. That sure gave a lot of smoke.)

It seems to be a hacker can either be good or bad, it depends on their cause. For instance, I tend to think of those who hacked the RIAA webpage in response to unfair lawsuits as freedom fighters. Then again, people who destructively hack cool sites for no reason at all are pure scum. I can think of no reason whatsoever to hack the bleach portal . . .
"Hackers" as a whole aren't bad. They're kind of like the cowboys of the wild west, some good some bad.

Im sorry, if a hacker tryed to hcak into my computer for the challange (as if it would be a challange) i dont care whether he was good or bad, id still be wanting his balls/her nipples, strung up and left for the crows. Yes some hackers do help test systems, but then they arent proper hackers, they get permission to test the companies defences.

I have this friend whos computer was cracked awhile ago, the guys totally took over all his MSN accounts and began harassing his buddies, making death threats and god knows what else. It got my friend into alot of trouble.
Of course I managed to block them till I installed trillian and then one of them IMed me:
[22:36] Steven: YOU ****IN FAG!
[22:36] John: huh?
[22:36] Steven: GO CHOKE ON A DINK BUD
Of course I so woulda played with him had he not been a "Cracker".
I myself am a hacker of some sorts. I used to hack into my Macintoshes system that my dad used to lock me out of back in the old days. Now im just good with macs and some PCs. A few times I do hack into websites but mostly thats if I want MP3s they have hidden and my abilities are nowhere near as powerfull as those attacking bleachportal.

I dont blaim Hackers, never really done that sins i learned what it is. But I dont like em when they enter my system and fire like 15 Trojans on me JESUS, thats most be under the part of a Cracker when they enter and download Trojans. The first Trojan most have been used to open my system :\ grr
Well I dont have time to learn more in the computer world, only thing I miss to learn is Programming/Script and Hack/Crack. Growing up means I have to use time on Stutty :'( And time for frinds, fun and relax to. omg, nearly forgot ofcures Bleach and Japanese too:)
Edit: And no it wassent a Torjan that downloads Trojans, did get the Cracker out before he could complete anthink more than mass Trojan me. lol :(

hm. like alot of people says, theres alot of different kinds of hacking. i dont really dislike hackers or like hackers, basely they jsut doing for revenge.

Most of them aren't... Crackers are just like tiny balls of frustration... They go "boom" sometimes.
Trojans are like the most easy way to get into someone's system. Rank 2 are P2P programs and then come the almighty DOS attacks. (but they are rank 3 because very little people know DOS these days.)
(Oh and: if a program seems to constantly download other viruses, trojans and ad/spyware, then it isn't called a trojan. I guess you could call it a Gatherer. Very nasty programs... some are nearly irremovable.)
Hacking MSn accounts.... No hard thing. All I need to do is send a coded
e-mail to hotmail. I learned that before I started studying informatics from a guy who did that...
Only a cracker or a really really vengefull hacker would do that though... As it provides little to no challenge.
I've hacked for protected files before too... (But only if it are games I really really want and I can't buy them in Belgium. It's a pity, really... I'd buy the games if I could.)

I wanna learn how to hack T_T
But i dont see why you would simply hack a site for no reason.
Was there someguy on bleachportal that was banned for somereason or maybe e went off on someone? Maybe hes back for revenge?
I kno Akirablaid.com was hacked numerous times, and i dont see why, they never did anythingto anyone.
Hopefully the hacker gets caught.

I kno that quote came from spiderman, but i wish more people would follow its wisdom.

The ones hacking bleachportal probably are crackers... they don't have a reason... They're just plain evil. It's like the "Dark side" of hacking.
You could learn by going to a few sites on the topic, but many words are hard to understand if you know nothing about pc's.
You also could learn hacking by studying informatics.

Hackers were originaly people who just found shorter ways to do complicated processes on the early computer systems, its more or less the people who abuse their own knowledge who give hackers a bad name.

it seems that happens alot in the world.
Stereotypes are near unremovable.
Thing is most hackers are just people that know extraordinary amounts of info about the computer and they are bored. I know because I know a couple of hackers. They are just plain bored. They have even tried hacking a mainframe in a smallish business website, but they did not do anything major to it, they just adjusted the clocks to be one hour ahead. :headbang:

well lets at least get the terminology proper.
Hacker: person who by means of unorthodox thinking problem solves programing projects.
Cracker: person who uses exploits in programing to by-pass security on systems and computers for personal gain or malicious reasons.
its not hacking to attack a site its cracking.
the movie hackers had it wrong and just perpetuated the wrong use of the word hackers.
the developers of Apple were hackers so were most of the early programmers of note.
Dragoneyes: Don't talk about grammar whatsoever. And don't correct people either. It's not how its said, it's the meaning of it. And not the meaning of definitions either. It's just another way you are flamming and using up space others could have a debate over. I know its an open forum, but don't bring in questions about grammar or definitions.

flamming?
you of all people should know I don't care about grammar.
but the definition does make a difference look up how many posters in this thread had to explain how they could hack because of their knowledge of computers and then had to define hacking in good and bad hacking.
dont you think it would be easier to use the universal word for bad hacking: "Cracking" instead?
like i said people like the developers of Apple were hackers why sully the word for people who inovated with outside the box thinking by useing the wrong term?
besides a DOS attack is more likely to have originated by some bored teen who just downloaded some net tools and wants to try them out see what they can do, than some cracker trying to enter the sites database. since being unseen is the rule of thumb when cracking into a system so you dont get shut down before your goal.
what do ya mean by attacked?
i can hack, but i don't. only if to install cracked games.
