Well, my computer recently went through a truck-and-trailer wreak, luckily the motherboard stil works. However, this computer is 3-4 years old and I think needs to be replaced.
I do a lot of graphic design, art, and web surfing/game playing with my computers, plus watching anime/reading manga and music burning. After the wreak, while operational, the sound has been staticky, and the graphics have been shoddy. Age has kicked in, so it's time.

Would you suggest any good computers/parts to look for?

i would suggest buying the parts and building one yourself then, it is cheaper, you dont get all the junk that companies install on them before shipping them, and then you get to brag about it too

figure out your budget and ask your friend to price a completely new computer within that set budget. if your friend is knowledgable he/she can find you the best bang for your buck. then get the thing built.

yeah, the alienware ones are good, but they will cost you an arm and a leg :P

depends what you want really, you need to think about budget, what its gonna be used for, what do you really need in the computer?

if your rich or have alot of money to spend go get a alien ware, ether that go ask a friend that works in a comp store or just research mobos... graphic cards.. etc, their pretty cheap in those comp warehouses, a case is cheap like 30-100 buk or some sort... then the final thing is.. you have to know how you set up the programs.. install your os and stuff...

www.geekstogo.com <-- best place to ask about comp hardware/software

Yup, it definately is cheaper to build your own. For graphics intensive stuff like gaming/graphics/art work u want something that is in the middle to near high end. Also u can get decent cd writers fairly cheap now. And if ure gonna be doing alot of graphics i would recommend a fairly fast cpu - say around 2Ghz AMD (Best at performance and they are cheaper).

Onboard sound that comes as standard with motherboards now will be just as good, but if you're like me then i would say Soundblaster Audigy range with 5.1 surround sound LOL

depending on what u do and stuff, getting amd athon X2, double proccessors is really worth it. but if u dont have that much money, AMD athon 64 great for playing games, P4, also great but not really concerned as great as AMD athon comapre to games.
for graphic cards > ATI radeaon 9250 would be decend enought to play games, i have that and it works well with high settings for games. > or and GeForce 6600GT for a bettter and faster graphic card ^^

Alienware = crap that you can buy from stores and build yourself x5 in price....My pc is probably considered pretty close to alienware(if only i had raid) but it cost me like 600$ all together, after my most recent upgrade maybe like 900$ but its worth over 2k..so build your own if you know how its worth it!

Alienware is bullshit. 5gs just for dual core and other stuff... really customize is REALLY the better way. with dual core, update graphic cards, and other stuff its only 2g with a simlar like alienware case.
