Ichigos sword

Hey. this is my first message on this board. One of the main reasons I signed up is because bleach r0x0r5. I have a question however. I have seen every episode bleached except for 49 which I just downloaded. One of the things i was wondering, however, is something about Ichigo's sword. Ichigo found out that his ability to see ghosts was more than just that. He meats up with a girl named rukia, and he see's her. She however doesnt realize he sees her, and he trips her in his room, and blah blah blah. Well she explains about death gods and what not. Well, when ichigo and rukia run out of the house (Ichigo still half paralized and crawling) Ichigo broke the binding spell put on him, and he tried to defend his sister with a chair. Well, when Rukia lost her strength protecting ichigo, getting a good bite in the process, and is unable to fight, and she tries to "lend" her power to ichigo, by stabbing him. Well, when Ichigo takes all of her powers, and he gets his own sword, Is that HIS sword in its first level, or would that technically be a sword formed from Rukia's power, through Ichigo. A friend of myn, actually my brother, is saying that he thinks its not ichigos sword. but its just like, a temperary sword, since Ichigo was technically not using his own power, but he was using rukia's power. please help me out with this.

Well he does get his own sword around episode 20 (I think, maybe 19?). So that theory sounds plausable.

No because that would be his lvl 1 sword ( shikai )
the sword he uses in the first episodes is HIS sword... It doesnt matter who's power it is... because ichigo had he's own powers anyway... and it is said that the soul slayer is formed in the appearance ( or something like that :p ) of his user ( in this case ichigo ) and the users power... So it would be his sword

I agree with that. Rukia did lend him power, not her zanpakuto. That power did awake Ichigo's.

I'd say its his Soul Slayer, but with Rukias powers effecting it.(without a dubt Its her Guard on that sword)

I think that it is %100 Ichigo's sword cuz if it were Rukia's she would be swinging around that big thing, when she transferred her powers, his own power was awaken, therefore the sword he wielded was his own.

when ichigo is reborn as a death god, he recreated his own sword the zangetsu

I'll add too that when he awakened his powers again he still had the same sword so i believe that rukia's powers just turned him into a death god and his power is his own

It's said that the size of the sword depends on the power of the user.....
If Ichigo didnt have his own powers he would have been using a smallass sword like rukias....when his powers awakened...whoosh...he grows a mahoosive sword on his back....thats a simple answer that you cant deny...(not without the dumbest excuse ever anyway)

i disagree w/ his first sword being shikai...shikai is when u learn about ur Zanpakutous name....when he becomes a death god again he learns his shikai ....thats what i think

Actually that thread link, explains it well...

Rukia's powers only awakened Ichigo's powers. So the power that Ichigo is using is his own. Rukia's powers are there just as a guide for him to attain his Death God form. But after training with Kisuke, he is able to attain such a form on his own will.

basely. ichigo has alot of spitalture enegry, thats why all hollows attract to him.. basely like constantie said, rukia awakened ichigo ....

depending on the user enegry, and the shape of the sword.. its all random. but yes most of the shingamis get wee long shorts, unlike ichigos, his is big. i dont really kno why. but all i kno that ichigo has high spirtal enegery.

watching the first episode is really all you have to go on at this point as to why the normal zanpakuto is so huge. I dont remember anyone talking about it in any more depth later on in the anime
