It is a simple sword attack, throwing the sword using the scarf, I do not think that it needs Ban Kai to do a simple trick.

Not only that but if he were to sling his sword by the wraps and he did miss...the chances are whoever he's fighting would just snap the wrapping and take his sword off him. That couldn't be a good result. ^.^

He's (Hollow Ichigo) probably able to use Zangetsu like a chained kama (chain sickle), Throwing it, yanking the sash to change it's trajectory and all that crap. Honestly I thought that was pretty cool.

Edit: and if it flew off somewhere after he threw it i bet he'll just run over and pick it up and then start fighting again, unless he was fighting on top of a ship and it flew into the ocean then he would have to swim after it.

well, i just think about it when ichigo was in life and death condition
[examples:fighting byakuya for the second time and when byakuya almost stabbed him,the hollow take over ichi's body and fight back]

Well His Powers Were From Rukia When Ichigo First Changed To A Shimigami But Then When He Lost His Powers It Would Be Logical That It Was Rukia's Power Only And Not His And Zangetsu Did Say That He Had Shimigami Powers Hidden In Him Which Awoken When Rukia Gave Her Powers To Him But Then Again When He Changed Into A Hollow Zangetsu Came And Saved Him But Not Only Turning Him Into A Shimigami But A Viaasado As Well
