According to Reuters (here, (http://www.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnoughNews/idUSL2273073120070523)) the best tourists in the world are the Japanese, the Americans, and the Swiss in that order.

The worst tourists in the world however were (from least worst to the worst) the British, Russians, Chinese, Indians, and...the French.

Yes, the French are the worst tourists in the world!

The British seem to be one of the worst tourists overall though, as they are second in the worst-dressed tourists (USA came in first), fifth in the least generous list (Germany led), and fifth from last in the best tourists category.

Why do I have a feeling that this is a bit rascist?

Although, I do admit, the Chinese are indeed one of the worst tourists in the world...

I've given this thread some thought.
I think the whole thing is a load of bullocks;

You go somewhere you've never been before -
obviously you're going to be "that guy".
You know.
Taking all the pictures,
asking people to take a group picture.

You wanna remember where you've been. So you make the most of it.
I know when I go someplace I've never been, my camera is always in my hands!

Anyway, that's just my opinion. Flame it and die.

=3

Okayz, this is no lie.

I think Americans and Asians are the worst ones.

In NYC, when i was strolling down the metro, there were mad chinese people videotaping and taking pictures while we were moving!!.. I was trying to get some shuteye and all you see if flash, flash, *whoa, flash. then on the furrey from staten island, there they was again, block the paths when trying to take pics with the Statue of Liberty. and I'm not talking about just three of four pics, they had do to different poses in different angles, with the dad and the mom, dad and son, mom and son, dad mom and son, grandma and grandson, grandma and son, grandma and mom, grandma son grandson and mom and dad, and grandma and dad. and i havent included the aunts and sisters and uncles they had.

Then in Taiwan, when i was getting off the plane, American people took pictures of me, and some of them sat near me during the plane ride. and for the whole ride all they did was talk talk talk... and pointing out the window and talking... like they were some guide... and then they had the nerve to aks me to take a picture for them... lol.

Well Ive come across tons of tourists along the way.. in my opinion.. no offence to anyone who is.. but Americans are the worst. Im not saying that in general americans are bad people.. (coz I know the americans on here are awesome people) but the ones ive come across as tourists are just idiots.

Here in my homeland I always hear said that we Finns are horrible tourists, always drunk and causing trouble and dressing terribly. Luckily, there are so few of us we won't be noted in such statistics....

Or perhaps we aren't so bad as we believe. I know I'm not.

Can't believe the people from Britain are surprsied we're considered bad tourists. I'm actually surprised we aren't dead last.

We have a horrible reputation. In places like Spain we're the drunk, loud, obnoxious, ignorant folk who believe if you talk louder and slower someone who doesn't know English will understand. Which is also pretty bad as many expect to go to another country, not learn the language, speak English and expect others to manouvere around you.

When people were going to Germany for the 2006 world cup we were being told not to go around goose stepping and making nazi salutes because it's illegal there because they were worried all the pillocks here would go over and be racist.

Then there's the football supporters. Up until a little while ago the English team had hooligans whilst the Scottish team is followed by a bunch of happy drunks who the pubs love due to trade but I'm pretty sure the locals don't appreciate their town or city being occupied for three odd days by loud drunks.

I always find tourists from Germany or the Scandanavian countries very pleasant to have around, they're very polite and all the rest. Some of the Americans I've been around have been very good tourists as well but quite a few of them have acted like arseholes.

Also Brazilians seem to be good tourists as well.

As a note when I was in Germany I usually got a better reaction when I said I (well, the group I was in) introduced ourselves as Scottish than when we introduced ourselves as British.

I'm not surprised that Indians are among the worst tourists. They bargain for every damn thing, they have lack of respect for public property, they will never admit they are in the wrong, they have learnt that rules are made to be broken... and the list can go on. I regret moving to India.

I really thought moving to India was a good option for me but it sucks. Their mentality is insane. And I'm stuck because I'm of Indian origin.

Oh ****.

We ended up pretty bad. But I'm not a bad tourist ;_;

Stoopid stereotypes.. just cos I'm tight with money and never venture outside the hotel room..

Ey. Don't generalise.. You're not like that are you? I know of many who aren't like that. Circumstance can force issues, such as first world countries who dump their shit where it doesn't belong and exploit others.

And btw, finally nice to meet another Indian on the forum - who isn't a guy :)
I live in Australia btw.

He He but don't u feel that people judge you for being an Indian? I've been judged many times. In fact i was Born in the seychelles and there the locals hated Indians. I was teased many times and was told to go back to my country cause i'm not needed here

All the time. Blows..

I was teased many times and was told to go back to my country cause i'm not needed here
Yeah, all my life. Been here since I was 3 years old.
I can't go outside without that feeling. I get reminded all the time that I 'don't belong'

That's why forumz are good :)

Here, in Belgium, there are coming alots of tourists. And mostly French, Chinese/Japanese(can't figure out the diffrence between them), English/American people and some other...
I must say, the most friendly are the Chinese and the Japanese people. They are very polite. As for the others, there acting very normal. You should see the Chinese/Japanese people here, they are always smiling, and if they are asking you for the directions, they are asking it in a very polite way. And they respect you, and the rules of the country.

Every day, I see many people cross red light. But the tourists of China or Japan they never cross the red light. They wait untill it's green.

I don't really hate the others but, there just a bit diffrent, and the Chinese and the Japanese people are a bit more polite.

And when I am at Turkey, I always see alot of tourists of diffrent countrys. Mostly English/American people. And I must say, they are bad. I mean, they go in the pool like you should go in a pool, but they leave alot of trash arround it. And at the bars... Few, they are doing some unapropriate things. Espacially when they are drunk.

But once again, the Chinese and the Japanese people just come arround and enjoys the view, and takes some pictures and leaves peacefully.
