Hello everyone, I'm looking for members for my site. It’s called Soul Reaper Academy and it's a role play site. I'm looking for Captains, Vice-Captains, Teachers, Students, Arrancars, Vizards, and a few Quincy's. This means I'll need cannon characters. All characters except Rukia are available.
Here's the link:

How? I can see it fine and so can my other members though only one is active and she hasn't complained so whats wrong?
Sorry, but there is quite a lot wrong with it. The colours are too bright. With website design, it is important to use colours that aren't too bright. Good combinations I think are Black/green or white/blue.

I changed it. How does it look now?
... now is quite hard to read, esp when theres alot of words
... now is quite hard to read, esp when theres alot of words
I'm thinking the same.
Also, replace the background with a solid colour. Trust me, aesthetics are what can make or break your website.
If you need some ideas, look at a basic phpBB forum or something. If you look at mine for example, I use different shades of blue for the backgrounds, then white text for the text on the gradients and then black text everywhere else. It makes it far easier to read, and this makes people more likely to sign up when the design is kept simple and usable.
Don't worry. Website design is very hard at first. Just keep trying until you find something that works well for you. I have been running a website for around two years now, and only after starting from scratch multiple times, did I get something that works for me. I started in 2005, and only on May 15th did I make a forum that is active.
Don't give up, and if the worst happens, make your forum look active by making multiple accounts and talking to yourself.

Oh man. This is annoying. I don't want to change the background. I think the site looks fine but if you think you know how to fix it then why don't you join and I'll give you the ability to fix it yourself becuase I don't have time for this. If this does happen then don't get rid of my Soul Reaper Academy banner.
I might. Not right now though, kinda busy.

The layout is pretty bad...it would be better to just use a premade one and just make a banner.

Oh really the banner isn't clear. It looks fine to me but if you can make a better one then I be glad to use it. Well if it looks good. I'm not really sure what you mean about the layout.

Hey! Just thought I'd drop a note, too.
I agree, the site needs a lot of work. "Fine" is relative... When creating a new site and trying to get members, it is best to create a site that will appeal to them and make them WANT to be there. Right now, if a member ALREADY wants to be there, they might stay... but really what you need is something more pleasing to the eye and easier to read. :)
I'm sure if you were to ask around CB there would be a few people who could give you some actual pointers and even help you make something that could work. Honestly, it's off to a decent start, but overall... I don't think that many people will want to join it until it is cleaned up.

Thank you for joining and I'm glad that at least 2 people are actually active unlike the ones that just join and decided to not role play. I hope more people will join then I could get my site going.

IN my opinion, the layout, banners and yeah the whole design of the site and how you build it is very important in order to attract members :)
I'll refrain from joining at the moment, but we'll see in the future.

Sorry to make opinions on the design, especially because everybody else has.
I think your design has molded the forum together into one big clump. Which isn't really appealing. It makes it look like a run down place that isn't well made.
I suggest you change the icons on the left to something smaller, perhaps ask a GFXer to create individual icons (like a GFX 78 for District 78). Also, use more than 2 colors, which is what you've been doing.
Although putting tons of colors is bad, if you restrict it to 2, the layout is very bland.
For black, you can use shades of black and medium to darker grays. For blue, like black, try to alter some shades, but no too much otherwise it'll clash and look quite crap.
I can try to help. I've been and admin for about 2 other forums. I can't RP though. I would be around more for the day-to-day running, and non RP-related improvements.
Anyway, good luck with this RP of yours.
